BTS Rapline don't like mumble Rappers especially Suga doesn't like mumble Rap they are all about lyrics being important and having meaning but they don't specifically attack at certain people names they have more class but DKDKTV explanation of Ddaeng you should watch please
You should watch the explanation video for "Ddaeng": BTS - DDAENG Explained by a Korean - RUclips (it will give you an idea of their true brilliance). Much of the lyrics are in reference to Korean culture, so you need the Korean explanation (the video is in English, so you won't need the CC).💜💜💜
if you want to request something go to their patreon and pay 3$ they said no matter how many request they get here on youtube only patreon members have a say on request. So let's just hope that maybe one of the members will request it 💪
Ddaeng has a lot of meanings. The word play of this song is just STUNNING. You should watch the DKDKTV's explanation of Ddaeng (Ddaeng explained by a Korean) to appreciate the amazing word play in this.
i think i should mention this but ddaeng isn't a word lol,, its a sound effect. that's partly why it has no translation. the other reason is that when you /do/ use it as a word, it has so many different meanings no singular word can actually be used to replace it. i HIGHLY recommend checking out the DKDKTV Ddaeng explained video since, as the title suggests, explains a lot.
Came to the comments to say this! So much can be lost in translation so it’s really interesting to look up videos that explain. Helps you to be able to enjoy the song on a whole new level.
A few things: -Ddaeng is like an anti-diss track, instead of dissing people they're saying thanks because you underestimated and hated on us so much we were able to do better than you. -They were criticized (when aren't they) that once they started touring the US and appearing on the US talk shows that they were too westernized. So their response of that is releasing a trap song with oriental instrumentation and what they are wearing is Korean traditional clothing called Hanbok. (It may use traditional Korean instruments as well but I'm not sure). -RM's stuttering is his imitation of people who after shitting and hating on them came around back to apologize. So the stuttering is what it sounded like to him.
Ill say it once, it is a crime to watch any Rapline video without watching the dkdktv explained by a korean series. The amount of context missed is insane. I never cared to look into lyrics until I heard them rap. Once you understand it all, especially why or when the rapline wrote something itll make it that much more powerful. Looking at OUTRO Tear when jhope closes with his line it makes everyone cry. its insane.
I honestly agree here, if you don't watch the DKDKTV (or in some cases other channels') explained video you don't really understand the song. It's impossible to watch it as a Western viewer and have any clue about it. I know you guys have said you really just want to react to videos, and that's fine...you and your viewers should at least watch any explained videos for BTS music on your own, though. You'll be glad you did.
It’s borderline disrespectful to how much work they put into the story of the song lol. But I used to enjoy music without reading lyrics as well. I just wish I turned a new leaf sooner.
And you are correct that in the part where RM is "stuttering" it's a diss, no one in particular, usuallyyyy their raps are not directed at someone specific, but more like if "you're offended that's on you". Also wanted to say you actually did a good job catching on to a few of the meaning of "ddaeng" in the song, of which there are many!
"they almost use ddaeng as an english word dang. it's so clever" they have like almost 20 different meanings of the word ddaeng in this song. now THAT is clever
Our boys are Korean so they use Korean instruments in their music not Japanese. The string sound is Gayageum, flute sound is probably Sogeum or Daegeum. They are very proud of their heritage so please respect that.
BTS came from a small label company, but they were called monster rookie on the industry because of their talent (singing, rapping, dancing, composing, writing and producing) and charm. That threatened the major label companies and most fans of the other KPop groups hated them so much. They never address their haters like in interviews or what not but they respond to them artistically, thru their music.
I really LOVE DDAENG, BECAUSE IT'S A SONG THAT TALKS ABOUT THEIR HATERS. ITS LIKE THEM(BTS) SAYING THANKS FOR THE HATERS BECAUSE THEY GAVE THEM TOO MUCH ATTENTION. IMAGINE A WHOLE SONG DEDICATED TO HATERS? BRUH, THIS SONG MUST BE SHOWN TO EVERYONE HATERS. HATERS NEEDS TO APPRECIATE THEMSELVES TOO.🤭 ANYWAY, YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY CHECK THE EXPLANATION FOR THIS SONG ON DKDKTV. YOU GUYS, R ALLY REACT TO WELL. THANKS FOR REACTING 💜
DDAENG with traditional KOREAN instruments was a free bonus track that they had released, but technically its kind of like an unofficial fifth cypher (Rapline Cyphers 1-4 + DDAENG).
I think to really appreciate Ddaeng, you should watch the explanation video. Ddaeng itself in this song was used with many different meaning. The world play and references they made in the songs will no doubt go over your head if you weren't korean or if you are not too familiar with the culture. As always, i enjoyed your reaction and how you analyse the lyrics! Thanks!💜 Here’s the link for the explanation video: ruclips.net/video/fdJl1SL03Ac/видео.html
if you want to request something go to their patreon and pay 3$ they said no matter how many request they get here on youtube only patreon members have a say on request. So let's just hope that maybe one of the members will request it 💪
So many layers of meaning to this one guys. Like everyone else says you need to see DKDKTV breakdown to grasp just how much wordplay and reference goes into the lyrics.
All the instruments used in ddaeng are traditional Korean musical instruments, not Japanese nor Chinese..they might sound similar but they are actually different. Also the traditional attire BTS are wearing is Hanbok, Korean traditional clothing from Joseon Dynasty, the old Korean kingdom from 12th century throughout 19th century.
The beautiful instrument is called a Zither. A musician played it during one of my Master Chorale concerts as we sang a traditional Chinese song in Chinese.
After you watch DKDKTV’s explanation of Ddaeng, please react to RM’s Joke lyric video followed by RM’s Joke MV. Then on to Suga’s Intro Shadow MV. I enjoy your reactions!💜💜
I love watching you guys trying to figure it out. Like everyone else has said you should check out the explanation video. They used ddaeng in at least 3 different ways. My fave is, on game shows in South Korea, if you get the answer wrong they shout ddaeng (wrong) at you. Really worth checking out. 😘💜
Tae excitedly bouncing in while the rapline is performing will never not be hilarious to me. He is absolutely their biggest fan and it's like he just couldn't help himself.
And to think this masterpiece of a song was given to us for free as a gift on bts’ group anniversary (which btw is this June 13) This song is not on Spotify or any other steaming platforms (only SoundCloud) they did not make money off of this, they are absolutely insane for this song which is fully produced and wrote by J-hope, Suga and RM Every year from the 1st of June to the 13, bts releases special videos and performances for their upcoming anniversary and most of the time we get a song from one of them, in 2018 it was ddaeng. There’s a lot of wordplay in this, and I liked you interpretation but this song hits so much harder once you get the full meaning of the lyrics. I’m sure everyone has told u do go watch the dkdktv explanation video, it’s a good video to watch. Looking forward to the live! Take care
if you want to request something go to their patreon and pay 3$ they said no matter how many request they get here on youtube only patreon members have a say on request. So let's just hope that maybe one of the members will request it 💪
This was during their 2018GrandFesta celebration even for their 6th group anniversary which is June 13th. In fact, they just recently had their 8th anniversary yesterday a few days before that they released 2021FESTA BTS ROOM LIVE and then on their official anniversary they had two-day MUSTER CONCERT that you can recap their LIVE performances on BANGTAN TV channel.
We want the same... WE NEED to see BTS live like tomorrow... I haven't yet seen them in a live concert... their concerts sell out in literal minutes. I've watched 3 of their online concerts so far. They have an online concert this weekend - FESTA to celebrate their 8th anniversary.
Suga has said that he includes a lot of Korean cultural music in his lyrics, and he worked on this track I believe. Ddaeng has many meanings, it would take too long to explain. DKDKTV has a great explanation video. By the way, many of their influences are American Hip Hop/Rap artists. And a lot of old style classic influence.
Mmmm, i do love a long reaction video 🥰 I know that plenty of people have already suggested you watch the DDAENG EXPLAINED BY A KOREAN vid by DKDKTV. I reccomend watching all their BTS explained videos if you end up listening to more of their music. There's a lot of word play and cultural context that goes over our heads as non-Koreans - hearing the perspective of a native speaker gives it so much more depth, it'll blow your mind 💜
if you want to request something go to their patreon and pay 3$ they said no matter how many request they get here on youtube only patreon members have a say on request. So let's just hope that maybe one of the members will request it 💪
BIG CROWN, cause I made it to the end. I love your reactions guys, keep it like that! Ofc I'm an ARMY and I came for the BTS ones but I will be sure to support slowly your older videos too :)))
You caught a lot of the meanings and caught the stuttering, but there is a bunch of Korean references that will make even more amazed. There is also a Ddaeng perfomance where the vocal line gets involved which is cute.
I adore BTS in great part because I’m a psychologist and their wordplay and existential philosophy is just incredible. RM‘s ability to utilize concepts of Jungian psychology is pretty cool. But this song takes the cake. You absolutely, as everyone has said, need to see the explanation as they’re actually implying numerous layers of meaning this word implies all in one song.
See? They do diss tracks too. They're not as pure as you thought they were, which is not realistic at all. They shouldn't be halo-fied at all. They can kick ass as anyone out there. Good for them!!! We don't want lame floor mats who'd just take insults with a silly grin on their faces as our stans. We want them strong but also loving, understanding and compassionate as they really are, but they shouldn't ever be underestimated or equated as cotton candy boys. They'll fight back with their genius in music and word play and you'll hurt! And that's why ARMY loves them.
YAYYY!!! Thank you for your reaction!! DDaeng is just one of those songs that require an explanation from a native Korean speaker, which you can find on youtube, b/c the play on words and references are not something you can fully grasp as a non-speaker! I'm glad you enjoyed the song you should check out the video on DKDKTV's channel if you're interested in the explanation.
You guys really need to watch the DKDKTV explanation of Ddaeng. It explains the ways RM uses the word Ddaeng (about 12-14 different meanings I believe) and it's a prime example of his skill at wordplay. It also explains the references to the numbers, the frogs in the well. To be honest without the explanation there's a lot that probably won't make much sense. There's also a video of a performance with the vocal line joining in which is epic.
You guys should check out their 2016 performance at the mama in Hong Kong. Their performances at award shows always turn into a mini concert. This one is my favorite.
They have upcoming concert on 13 and 14 june (actually its more of a fanmeeting concert called MUSTER) they do this almost every year to celebrate their anniversary. U should really watch it if u want to experience them live (for now live on tv lol)
Props for a great reaction video without any background info! Impressed you were able to pick up on a lot of the meanings of Ddaeng, and appreciate the discussion! Others have dropped the dkdktv explanation video- RM's verse actually used 7 different meanings of Ddaeng, so crazy. And RM's verse about "frog in the well" also references a Korean folktale about a frog in the well that thinks his small well is the whole world- so BTS is responding to Korean rappers that give them hate, that they aren't even competing worldwide like BTS. From Dkdktv explanation he also explains that "frog" sounds almost the same as "fing lame" lol.
Not Japanese or just oriental, it's a type of Korean styles..^^........ You know many different countries have their own different styles. And also Korean people doesn't like to be compared with other East asia countries because they've historically been suffered a lot more than people can imagine. For example, you wouldn't like it if I say American's culture or song is the same with Canadian ones even though you guys share the same continent. Btw I always enjoy you guys's reactions!! Thanks
1-8 1-3 3-8 DDAENG! The best hand you can get in a popular korean card game. Think royal flush. I would totally suggest watching explanation videos as part of your reaction to these songs, either before or after on the same vid. I think seeing your whole reaction to the song and the meanings behind the lyrics would be very cool. There’s a lot to this song I couldn’t begin to cover here. For example, I think they use 7 different meanings of “ddaeng” throughout the song lol I forget what hand RM and Suga played in the writing but I’m sure it was significant, if not completely by them, they’re brilliant songwriters!
Dudes I know how you feel about reaction videos BUT this is the exception. Watch that video to enjoy the brilliance of the rap line it will literally blow you away. Regardless of whether you react to it or not it’s a must!!!
Also, another context: this song was performed at a fanmeet - it wasn't even a large scale concert. It was just a fun event they hold every year for their fans to celebrate their debut anniversary. They created a whole ass quality song, released it for free on Sound Cloud, and then performed it at a fanmeet. This song is so good, but it isn't even on Spotify, because they didn't release it as an official single.
Has anyone suggested BTS' cypher pt. 1, 2, 3, 4 yet? Love your reaction about Ddaeng, and I am excited how you would react to their cypher series 💜 btw, in the last part where RM mentioned about the frog and he hopes they will die earnestly in the well, you might take a reference at the story about the "frog in a well", where it thought of the well as the 'world' when there is so much to explore outside of it. Take the well as the small country of Korea while BTS is already exploring the worldwide stage.
i love how after the song ended, Hobi/Jhope just said "ddaeng, Ddaeng" in tiny.. like I can't with their duality EDIT: also, some ARMY think that "Ddaeng" is like lowkey their Cypher pt. 5.. I mean, I thought so too lol
@D RSRIPAAH oh yeah.. he got to live his dream as a rapper.. their whole interaction in that one is so cute.. like the rapline have the proud smiles on their faces
Rim's word play in here is sick!! Go look up the reaction to the meaning of this song. You'll be all mixed up trying to wrap your head around this in so many ways....
Like everyone else has mentioned here, you need to watch the explanation video. This song is genius wordplay because it uses ddaeng in a different way for almost every single line in a way that English speakers do not understand. Once you do you understand you will realize how clever and intelligent this song is.
Someone may have already mentioned it, Ddaeng has a video that explains the lyrics because the meanings are tied to Korean Culture The explanation is on DKDKTV YT channel
Just in RM's verse Ddaeng is used in 07 different ways. The DKDKTV explanation is really necessary on this (for UGH and Baepsae as well). The wordplay is amazing
I think that you'll need to watch Ddaeng explained by a Korean. You'll never be able to get the entire song at its face value alone because the word Ddaeng itself has deep cultural connotations and its use in the song is multi-layed and a product of Namjoon's (his IQ is 148), Yoongi's (another musical genius), and Hobi's genius at word play. And while we're at this, Asia is not just China and Japan. East Asia alone has 6 active states namely: China, Japan, Mongolia, North Korea, South Korea, and Taiwan. Each state possesses its own unique culture, so an oriental-sounding instrument doesn't necessary have to be Japanese alone. By the way, I'm a 53-year ARMY from the Philippines. The Philippines is a country which is part of the southeast region of Asia. Sorry about the lecture. But i think that there is need for it considering your increased interest on BTS. Which I appreciate, by the way. Peace and borahae 💜 ruclips.net/video/fdJl1SL03Ac/видео.html
Thank you so much for your reaction. I'm really enjoying watching your BTS Journey and the fact that you enjoying knowing BTS Is just make me feel Honored for Introducing you to BTS

Yes! Please watch this explanation video. All your questions will be answered :D
Yes! It doesn’t just have one meaning so the explained is highly recommended. Thx!
Yes this will blow your mind. You got so much right but there are so so many layers to this. Esp rm's part.
And the explanation video is from a chanel called DKDKTV
if you want to request something go to their patreon and pay 3$ they said no matter how many request they get here on youtube only patreon members have a say on request.

Helps you to be able to enjoy the song on a whole new level.
yes the explained become song the another level
A few things:
-Ddaeng is like an anti-diss track, instead of dissing people they're saying thanks because you underestimated and hated on us so much we were able to do better than you.
Ddaeng not only means "tag" in this song! They use it several different ways. You need to check out the explanation video by DKDKTV!
Ill say it once, it is a crime to watch any Rapline video without watching the dkdktv explained by a korean series. The amount of context missed is insane. So true!!! Ok the flow is dope BUT HAVE YOU REALIZED THESE GUYS ARE GENIOUS?
I honestly agree here, if you don't watch the DKDKTV (or in some cases other channels') explained video you don't really understand the song. It's impossible to watch it as a Western viewer and have any clue about it. One of my favorite song from BTS, DDAENG!! Come on!
Thanks for this 💜
We gotchu! 💜
"they almost use ddaeng as an english word dang. it's so clever" they have like almost 20 different meanings of the word ddaeng in this song. now THAT is clever
Haters: I HATE YOU.

Right? I find it so funny how a lot of reactors automatically assume it’s either Japanese or Chinese when BTS are a whole Korean group.
Yes 😭😭 thang you🙏

It's so satisfying people analyze the lyrics while watching bts. Love it, man. Keep it up👍
Rm verse is my ringtone for almost 3 years now lol... One of my favourites!

You caught a lot of the meanings and caught the stuttering, but there is a bunch of Korean references that will make even more amazed. There is also a Ddaeng perfomance where the vocal line gets involved which is cute.
The explanation by dkdktv is a must. Cause ddaeng literally had 7 meanings and they use all of em in this songs.

You guys should check out their 2016 performance at the mama in Hong Kong. Their performances at award shows always turn into a mini concert. This one is my favorite.
I think the instrument you guys were talking about in the beginning of the video is the Korean traditional instrument called the 가야금 (gayageum).
Please react to OUTRO: TEAR LIVE PERFORMANCE (WEMBLEY)
I was waiting for your reaction 👉👈
RM is a lyrical genius.
I love your interpretation of it. Especially bc a small army theory I saw yesterday was that that's exactly what they did with Butter 😅
Thanks
Please watch DKDKTV Ddaeng Explained by a Korean cause you’re going to miss so many things in this song
Omg guys, PLEASE react to the vocal line singing Ddaeng😂 it’s.... *chefs kiss*
So you didn't noticed rapline's biggest fan taetae there 🤣🤣🤣
Can't wait for yall to react to their song called Hip Hop lover, the lyrics!! I bet yall will love it
Has anyone suggested BTS' cypher pt.
BTS HAS ONE OF THE BEST RAPPER IN KPOP INDUSTRY
Correction *two* rm and suga
@@shainakalesh ???
Does bts has only one best rapper?
@@shainakalesh i think you misunderstood bcoz my grammar is wrong
BTS RAP LINE IS ONE OF THE BEST RAP LINE IN KPOP INDUSTRY*
Ddaeng is just something else.
Rapline just put fire in their songs and full your Energy.
You really Should check out
UGH
CYPHER PT.1 TO PT.4 too.
I believe all ARMYs can agree DKDKTV is the only channel that can properly explain this song
i really like your reaction. it's genuine
You may want to watch thing song performed with vocalists rapping. It is very fun. Ddaeng ft.vocal line
Please watch Ddaeng Explained, they use SO MUCH wordplay in this song but it's hard to understand without the Korean cultural context.
Korean traditional music is what was in the track
i love how after the song ended, Hobi/Jhope just said "ddaeng, Ddaeng" in tiny.. like I can't with their duality
EDIT: also, some ARMY think that "Ddaeng" is like lowkey their Cypher pt. 5.. I mean, I thought so too lol
@D RSRIPAAH oh yeah.. he got to live his dream as a rapper.. their whole interaction in that one is so cute.. like the rapline have the proud smiles on their faces
Thnks for the reaction
*▶▶BILLBOARD named RM #3 + SUGA #9 "TOP SONGWRITERS -YEAR END 2020"! RESPECT!🔥🔥*
Rim's word play in here is sick!! Go look up the reaction to the meaning of this song. You'll be all mixed up trying to wrap your head around this in so many ways....
thank you for this. ♡
Your wigs are going to be snatched when you react to the Cyphers.
Like everyone else has mentioned here, you need to watch the explanation video. This song is genius wordplay because it uses ddaeng in a different way for almost every single line in a way that English speakers do not understand. Once you do you understand you will realize how clever and intelligent this song is.
Cypher medley live next please! 🙏
I can't wait to your cypher series reaction😂😂
Someone may have already mentioned it, Ddaeng has a video that explains the lyrics because the meanings are tied to Korean Culture
The explanation is on DKDKTV YT channel
you should react to cypher series (pt. 1, 2, 3 & 4)!!!! i think you will love it
Just in RM's verse Ddaeng is used in 07 different ways.
East Asia alone has 6 active states namely:
China, Japan, Mongolia, North Korea, South Korea, and Taiwan.
Peace and borahae 💜

Thank you so much for your reaction.
I'm really enjoying watching your BTS Journey and the fact that you enjoying knowing BTS Is just make me feel Honored for Introducing you to BTS
A livestream with RUN BTS would be a great idea, because there's a lot of context that ARMY would probably be able to guide you better with. :)
