Part of why I had trouble getting into the season (besides the shorter episodes and bizarre damaging edits) was Irene’s early elimination. Her looks were great, she brought real drama (not fake Amethyst/Robin drama you knew the producers were banking on). The only time I would have been totally fine with riggory.
@@mimkyodar Right. That’s why I mention riggory. A little positive confessional during the bit here, a little random Ru laughing moment there, and it could have been a questionably safe performance. There were plenty of other performances that could have been made to look worse. 😈

Robin's looks were REALLY surprising to me. The opposite of her looks to her more quiet personality is really interesting. I'd love to know how much she actually inspired a lot of those looks vs just let a designer do their thing because there's such a clear vision there. Much more actually fashion forward looks vs drag costumes compared to their other queens. Wow.
I imagine she has more dimensions in person and production stunted those sides by trying to put her in a spot with the amythest thing. Her all stars appearing will be gold
TOOOOO FUCKING FIERCE!! LikeI wasn’t the biggest fan of Aura on the show but she’s so talented and has excellent drag. I just wish they did more to her and Robins’ edits. This season felt so focused on creating caricatures rather then letting you get to know them

I can’t get over how much Aura Mayari went in with her fashion; she definitely represented being Filipinx with so many fashion references to traditional gowns and dresses (e.g. the Terno gown with the big mitre-like “butterfly sleeve” shoulders in her devilish red “Monochromatic” get-up; her “Rip Her to Shreds” harkened a Mortal Kombat Raiden in a Filipiñiana gown, and I’m wondering if she used traditional Pinoy fabrics, like piña, since the fraying can be associated to it). Hoping she gets an invite back, or even pop up in RPDR Philippines or Manila Luzon’s Drag Den! 🇵🇭❤

I gasped in shook when you chose Spice’s Beyoncé over Aura’s rip her to shreds look. Spice looks beautiful, but the shape of the dress is so boring. There’s been a billion iterations of that same dress. Aura’s is insanely good. From the detail in the fabric, to the way the shape clearly takes you to East Asian traditional garb, but at the same time making it exciting and modern. Riga morris girl.
I don’t really follow any of the ru girls on socials, so these looks were a legitimate surprise to me and WOW! 😍 we really, really missed something special with Irene Dubois being eliminated so early on. She is absolutely stunning
I can't even begin to imagine what it would be like to be Irene and not only have to struggle with being the first to be sent home but having all of those amazing runways that must have cost her a very pretty shiny penny and to only have worn one on the main stage. I've seen them bring a lot of Queens back that have shown us a lot less than Irene would have. She would have been a perfect contestant you sneak back in to the season no matter how lame The Twist was. I mean just stick her in a box or something. 😅 Wonderful Video Bussy Girl. I'm going through a terrible case of Drag Race withdrawal and this sure takes the edge off.😊

I needed this video so much. There were such great looks that went unseen on my tv. I know it would probably be THE longest season of drag race but omg it would be a gag if they did the rules like All Stars 7.
I think Aura's red monochromatic look is nod to a bullfighter's outfit? That's what the headpiece reminds me of, and it being all red would play into that as well :)
She also has Filipina butterfly sleeves incorporated so I’m wondering how much of it we can trace back to Aura’s culture. I found the headpiece SO stunning but I have no idea what it is.

I think I get her. She has two separate sides. She's doing kind of an older hot mom, or going the complete other side of the spectrum into more spooky horror drag. She really loves dressing up and making herself proportionate and hot but she's also a big fan of horror movies obviously. So she basically has two separate persona's.
Gagged at Sugar and Spices Beyoncé looks! Mouth stayed gasping at Aura, Robin, and Irene. I also love Malaysia’s glove look and seeing her all the time her entrance orange fox and pink fox reunited 🤤 so many talented amazing queens!! ♥️
not a historian but i learned a lot from youtube fashion historians so Irene's tie dye look is definitely inspired by the dresses with paniers (the things on her hips) of the 18th century. there were three main styles : robe à l'anglaise, robe à la française, and robe à la polonaise. It was indeed the rococco style, cause they brought the DRAMA. also the great thing about paniers was that there was room for pockets ! like actual pockets in which you could actually hold loads of stuff! the dresses were made in a way that there was a hidden slit at the side to access the pocket. and the weight of all that was supported by the stays (kinda like corsets, same purpose, but corsets appeared in the 19th c.). also they were not ultra tight (most people didn't do that), the waist looks small bc of the HUGE hips thank you for coming to my history ted talk (if you've made it that far, condragulations)

I actually loved every single one of these looks. These contestants spend a lot of time, energy and money on these luxe and I can appreciate everything that they’ve all done.

It's heartbreaking not only to think of the wonderful TV that we missed by not having her there but imagine struggling with being sent home first and having all of those very expensive costumes that would never see the main stage. The devastation must have been unbelievable. I was absolutely shocked when she was sent home. If I was her I may have hung on to those beautiful looks and altered damn when she's invited back for All Stars 9 which absolutely has to happen. It would be a crime against drag for her not to be. When she was leaving and she said she had spent her entire 10 year career planning on making it to drag race it was just too sad. So sorry I do go on when it comes to Irene.😢😊

what i want is at LEAST the first challenge to be non-elimination. we’ve seen how queens like daya betty be eliminated day 1 and make it to the finale - IRENE COULDA BEEN A CONTENDER. but we never got that opportunity. and i WANT that opportunity.

You can clearly tell which queens had the money. I think the only reason Aura did so well in this bracket was because she spent thousands on the outfit and probably thousands on the photographer.
As an...ahem...seasoned Queen here, Aura's 'Start Your Engines' look is a bit of a sleeper. If you know about beautiful, vintage, valuable, expensive, hand-crafted Italian and British cars...you get it.
To be fair they don’t have the stress and time restraints the other queens have so those looks better be fkn fierce or it’s more proof why they went home.

I was recently watching season 14 and, wow the contrast. Nobody went home, like they kept coming back, back, back again. So I was thinking you got Daya back, and it was a good choice, but this season you couldn’t be bother to bring back Irene, and well no double shantays, when this season gave you and iconic lipsyncs. Well choices I guess.
I've always wished the format they had for All Stars 7 was did on S15 for a change, or maybe throughout the competition because it can be a competition to really determine by track record and they can do the lipsync finale battle for the top 3/4, so that way all queens get to compete and showcase their strengths all throughout

At 6:25 The horns are actually carabao horns. Carabaos are a pretty common animal in the Philippines used by farmers to help them in their farm

what i want is at LEAST the first challenge to be non-elimination. we’ve seen how queens like daya betty be eliminated day 1 and make it to the finale - IRENE COULDA BEEN A CONTENDER. but we never got that opportunity. and i WANT that opportunity.

You can clearly tell which queens had the money. I think the only reason Aura did so well in this bracket was because she spent thousands on the outfit and probably thousands on the photographer.

I was recently watching season 14 and, wow the contrast. Nobody went home, like they kept coming back, back, back again. So I was thinking you got Daya back, and it was a good choice, but this season you couldn’t be bother to bring back Irene, and well no double shantays, when this season gave you and iconic lipsyncs.
