I have my exam really soon and I’m honestly not confident. Academic Chemistry for me was a breeze and passed it easily, but AP Chem has been more than a challenge. It doesn’t help this is my first AP class that I’m taking.
I'm in the exact same boat. I just keep reminding myself I got to this point somehow, and I just gotta do whatever I was did before x100. Good luck on your studying, our futures are in our hands!
@@JeremyKrug oh boy I wouldn't download the entire notes for ap chem on my calculator no siree especially not the strong acids and bases and hybridization rules nooooo. (actually I didn't) ... (mostly)

thanks . the significant notation tip really helps. here is a suggestion. i ( for that matter , every ap chem student) would love it if you did daily videos on only mcq and frqs unit-by-unit.
Thanks for the suggestion! I have a MCQ video coming up soon, and I'm working on unit videos dedicated to MCQ and FRQ in the Ultimate Review Packet too.
Thank you so much for the materials! I am so happy that I found someone like you to help me tie everything I know together to help me score better tomorrow!
Thank you jeremy you are the best and a life saver!! i’ve been watching you since the beginning of this school year and you have helped me out so much. thank you
to be honest, getting a 50% is free given you aren't absolutely failing the class. If you know your basics you're getting a 3. However getting an 80% is a different story and you should probably study even if you have an A
Unit 3 and Unit 8 are my best units! Thank you for telling me this, I will sure study them but I'm happy because I found them easier to understand than most other units.
I am a chemistry teacher in Ethiopia but not AP or IB or A-level. Now, I started reading AP chemistry. Would you tell me how I can get an AP teacher license online? Thanks
College Board offers institutes during the summer (June and July) where you can receive AP training to become an AP Chem teacher. Many of these are offered online now. Search for "AP Chemistry Online Summer Institute" and you should find lots of options.
Thank you for this video! What would you consider to be "easy points" on the exam? More of memorization concepts such as polyatomic ions, strong acids and bases, and VSEPR?
For most of the FRQ, parts (a) and (b) of each question tend to be easier. Also, there are easier MCQ spread throughout the exam, but a lot of them are found at the very beginning of the exam. There's not really much memorization on the exam.
for me it feels like anything regarding hybridization is easy points! like sp^2 sp^3 type questions were part a of at least one frq question in all of the ones i’ve practiced with :0
Just out of curiosity what are your thoughts on the Princeton review book for AP Chem? Im currently using the one for 2023 and I’ve went through most of the units and taken two practice tests (both of which I scored around a 60%), but I’m curious to see what you think about it.
Although I don't have the 2023 version, the Princeton review books seem to be pretty good. They have a "Premium" version which seems to do a pretty good job approximating the AP Exam on their practice tests.
@@JeremyKrug thanks! In both my practice tests I’ve gotten around 60% so I’m glad to hear that it’s a good way to test myself! If the only difference is the calculator this year then I think it should still be fine.
I have lots of students in my own classes that are taking AP Chem and AP Bio at the same time. These two courses complement each other, so I have no problem with students taking both at the same time. I have a few ambitious students even taking AP Chem, AP Bio, and AP Physics 1 at the same time!
If you make an errror in the first part of a question like use a wrong unit, and then you use the same wrong unit in the next part, do you get marked off for both?
yes, if you use for example joules in both but you needed to use kilojoules, you will get it incorrect. A tip is just to read what is asks you at the end and mark that.
right - with incorrect, you would probably get both parts wrong. However, if you calculate an incorrect value in the first part but use that value correctly in the second part, you may still get some points.
Absolutely! However, Professor Dave's videos will be on the Ultimate Review Packet for the rest of this school year. My exclusive videos on the Review Packet will go live starting July 1st.
Check out my videos over redox in the Unit 4 section of my full course video playlist. As to units, if they require a specific unit, the problem will usually specify which unit to use.
I really know the content but all year I have been keeping the full unrounded number in my graphing calculator and doing calculations with it until the end of the problem when I would do sig figs. Will that penalize me or should I be rounding to sig figs throughout the problem?
In chemistry (especially critical lab analyses), we normally don't round until the end, so you should be fine waiting until the end to round. Great question!
Several students have asked, so I will answer. On one side of my family, my ancestry is from Germany. On the other side, my ancestry is from the Caribbean and from India. Thanks for watching!
Very good point. The AP Exam doesn't reward rote memorization, but rather deeper understanding of chemistry concepts and problem-solving abilities. There are a few things that might be useful to put in there, but there aren't that many.

Do you know if the graders take off points if let’s say the answer was 23.8 grams and your answer was 23.9 grams. Is that included in the tolerance?
In chemistry, the last significant figure has a tolerance of plus or minus 1, so you should be okay in that situation. Good question!

If the proctor is following their instructions, then no, you should not get in trouble.
