From Matt and Shane's secret podcast ep 156, 114 and 34
The host of this show is a god damned idiot
Did you just randomly find this ? 😂
Hahahahaha
Don't you dare
Watch your fucking mouth
You’re half right, but Matt isn’t the “host”
The moment when Matt's ignorance literally stuns Shane into silence and he says "Do you think 9/11 was Pearl Harbor??
Seriously this is up there with thinking Hitler was Russian
Lol Shane's a history major. matt used to work in a concrete pit, can't knock the dude too hard for not knowing this stuff. Plus it created this great conversation
@@yoboy6319 Matt has a masters degree and is a legit shaman, it's like if you had a friend who was expounding on transcendentalism and quantum entanglement, and you say "Dude, you have to stay off the internet" and he replies "What the fuck is the internet??"😂😂
@@yoboy6319 in the pit? wasnt he broom bitch? his theory on many little piles was revolutionary

"did you think pearl harbor was 9/11" is one of the funniest questions I think I've ever heard on the podcast.
The urgency that Matt says “100 planes attacked Pearl Harbor” makes it seem like it happened in real time
350+ planes took part in the raid
@@Ozone814i looked it up too after shane was dumbfounded by Matt. I knew it was a lot of planes but not 350 9f them plus subs and ships.
@@Ozone814mo only 2
0:55 - The Japanese had six fleet aircraft carriers with about 350 planes for the attacks on Pearl Harbor. Because of dumb luck none of the American carriers were at Pearl Harbor. They were delivering planes to Wake Island at the time of the attack. Probably why the Japanese did not strike again. They thought the carriers would be there. And since they did not know for sure where they were, plus being at the end of the logistical supply lines being so far out to sea. They had to withdraw. Not getting the American carriers was not great for them and the biggest part of their blunder.
That Churchill quote read by Carlin does to hard af though, “Hitler’s fate was sealed. Mussolini’s fate was sealed. As for Japan, they would be ground into powder.”
"WHO's Nanking"?... @18:47, priceless
My favorite epidaodes are the ones Shane rants about historical events while being a fkn patriot
Gillis doing a special with history class would be a good idea. Ill wait for my check on that idea boys.
"special"
Call it “ The Short Bus”
@Hugh Jainis It could serve to inform. He's always looking out for his fellow man
Matt, "Who's Nan King?" LMAO
“Do you think Pearl Harbor is 9/11” 😂😂
Matt got his entire understanding of Pearl Harbor from that family guy episode with quagmire flying lol. No doubt
Shane gillis explaining history is the best
Shane describing how we were Japan's source of oil and Matt going "We were their lube, dude" Jesus christ lol
The people who got Shane fired from SNL's heads would melt if they heard him doing Japanese accents and talking about how internment camps were "fair game" here
The Carlin voice impression is accurate 💀💀😂
"Yall better chill. Make VCRs." is still one of the funniest things I've ever heard
As a British man.. god bless America!
they finished the fucking anthem... salute to the dawgs
“The Japanese are just like everyone else… only MORE SO” -Dan Carlin
Lmaoo this is honestly the best way to learn about history
“That’s the thing they debated, was whether it was honorabrrr.”
Japan’s idea for Pearl Harbor came from the Japan-Russo war in the early 1900’s. Japan surprise attacked and sunk almost the entire Russian Fleet in harbor in the Battle of Tsushima. Russia came to the negotiating table right after and brokered a surrender. Japan just followed that line of thought and assumed the US would do the same. Japan planned to notice the US of its declaration of war minutes before the attack but the messenger was late and the declaration came after the attack had started. Go figure sneak attacking would incense the US population so much that it devoted every fiber of its being to the war effort. No cars, refrigerators, machinery were produced during the war unless it was for the war effort. Every factory produced war goods. The singer sowing machine company made machine guns, Ford and GM made tanks etc. In a way you can thank Japan as the reason the US projects power throughout the world today. The attack affected us so deeply we vowed to never be caught off guard by another countries military ever again.
“Who’s Nan King” lmfao
"Who's Nanking?" 😂
“………do you think Pearl Harbor was 9/11?”
I need this conversation animated immediately
When he says two planes, he's talking about a later attack when the Japanese used a submarine to launch these tiny prop planes to drop a bomb. Separate incident.
shane’s japanese accent is on point, he should get a pass for any joke he ever does that might be deemed insensitive towards asians
I'm glad you took it upon yourself to deem things insensitive. I don't know what I'd do.
“Make vcr’s” I’m dead
“Don’t you know we have space bombs?”
Japan's navy was bigger than the US pacific fleet, which is why the Japanese were willing to take such an enormous risk attacking Pearl Harbor-- they saw their opportunity to reduce the size of the US' fleet even more. Plus, with the US also being slowly pulled into Europe, the Japanese saw the chance to tempt a two-front war. It did not work, obviously.
I know a lot about the Pacific War and I like McCusker but damn if he’s way off on his guessing about imperial Japanese history
Hes just playing the foil. Genius level commitment by mccusker
Like when Kimbo said "Is that all You got? Its over!"
Shane’s history is a funnier version so it’s the one I choose to believe.
Radar reported hundreds of aircraft inbound. Fishing vessels reported Japanese ships coming from days out. The command of Pearl Harbor told everyone to stand down and said “it’s just a training exercise.”
I imagine america like heath ledger joker watching japan flying over to pearl harbor like, "come on come on, i want u to do it! Hit me! HIT ME!", and then it all started.
The educational system has failed these boys😂😂
Zero's were the superior fighter planes in that theatre I believe. It was the same for us with the Germans, their tech was way more advanced. I mean you can still see it today, everyone is driving German and Japanese cars. The Germans had the best tanks for sure.
We had Spitfires and Hurricanes and then Lancaster Bombers in the UK. We definitely gave the Germans a run for their money in aerial combat, but then we're an Island so we gotta have good Navy and Airforce.
Harbour .. you British m8?
I believe he is Scottish. Or Irish. Said it in a post once
Invented the language and can’t spell
@@BestiaTerra you do realize the American version of spelling isn't the only way to spell words correctly right? Other English speaking countries like Canada or UK use 'u' in words we don't like colour. Don't make us all look as stupid as yourself, please.
Matt thought “The Final Countdown” movie was the true story of Pearl Harbor
“Who’s Nanking?”
-Matt
Poor Matt. That’s a special kind of stupid 😂
“You could’ve easily faked Pearl Harbor. What was it like two planes?”
Right after he says that I’m ending the podcast discussion for the day. And then he goes on to discuss it for 30 more minutes having no idea what he’s talking about.
This reminded me to check out that massive Dan Carlin - Hardcore History series Supernova in The East, it is fucking intense! Also thanks for these clips, I don't like full episodes of any podcast, just the meat, and I like to listen to these at the gym which usually last a good cardio session. Quality clip makers are doing the lord's work.
Say cheese and die goosebumps reference was top
I just started listening to Supernova in the East and now I come across this lol
C'mon who hasn't seen PEARL HARBOR the movie at least.
4:59 there definitely were kamakazis
They took down our whole Pacific fleet!!!
Shane needs to review that HH when the Mongols go all romper on the Arabs.
Before the attack….Japan was telling us to leave Hawaii. (Kinda like we told Russia to leave Cuba). We were like “no one tells America what to do”
So Matt knows about Commodore Perry but had a worse understanding of Pearl Harbor than a well adjusted 8 year old.
I thought it was like only 2 planes.. lmao just wow um yeah wow again...
They needed that one two 😅
This is why Matt's teachers had to appease him with Bs lol. He was doing everything BUT paying attention 😅
My God the education requirements of where ever Matt went to, for lack of a better word ,school makes West Virginia's teachers look like Ivy league professors
Dude Shane’s Japanese accent has me dying
"dude... do you think Pearl Harbor was 9/11?"
Oh they brought out the boys
It's not called the "Consent" of Nanking
Matt really thought we nuked two cities for two planes.
and later disclosed that he wasn't really paying attention in history class 🤣
Another thing this displays is that Matt is continually suprised by the same stories over and over.

It’s good to clown on your friends when they say stupid shit but sometimes your friend says something so incredibly stupid that you just have to correct them and then let it go in order to save the friendship. If you’re honest about how stupid you think they are in that moment, they’ll never forget it
