From Matt and Shane's secret podcast ep 102 Приколы
This video is the first of a new series called Bedtime Stories, where I clip moments of the podcast where they talk in depth about a historical event.I enjoy it when they do it, so I figured others do too. There's a playlist on my channel which will contain all of these vids. Enjoy!
dude we need shane talking civil war n indians ASAP, its the funniest shit.
Yes!!! Your channel rules, by the way. I KNOW you've got Shane talking Comanche Native Americans on the way!
@@EastboundAndDowns they just take you in every tent, and they fuck you up.
I love the history talks
Peepop dun forgot
My great uncle died on the uss Indianapolis, we believe he worked in the lower deck and died as the torpedo struck the ship. He was only 17 at the time.
RIP but I guess better than getting eaten by sharks
He never saw it coming, so yeah, much better than sharks. So there’s that.
Ok so apparently torpedos and bombs are not the same. So he drowned a horrible death while possibly very conscious and aware. Damn, I’m sorry. But still better than eaten by sharks, right?
Ok so apparently, there were some people eaten by sharks during the attack. So yeah, he likely died a horrible death while fully aware. But at least he didn’t have to live with horrible PTSD only to commit suicide later on in a moment of manic depression. So there’s that?
@@Jayo26 maybe..we’ll never know
I personally know a guy who survived this. He turned 99 a couple weeks ago. Hard-ass.
Wow all those years without a bottom half
@@balkloth bobbin up and down in the water like a top
He still alive?
Bray??
Had a guy that survived it too lived 30 mintues from where i grew up. Hes dead now but he came too speak at our school
Sometimes I forget Shane is a history nut. Should have a whole comedy podcast dedicated to history
A M&S retcon of History Hyenas would be SICK!
He’s got a major in it I believe
@@richardjamesIII dude I wanna see Shane go off about history with yannis or chris honestly. Would be so good
He only needed to watch Jaws for this lol
It goes in line with his old white guy personality 100%, all the guys born in the 50's and 60's are in to American history
all jokes aside. I do enjoy shano's history tales. Actually makes it interesting and i retain information 10000X more than back in the day history class
I second this.
Forreal lol
I genuinely think the setting your in immediately effects how you learn, the moment I left school I found learning 1000x more interesting
I am pretty sure he got this from Dan Carlin's latest 'hardcore history podcast' series, the episode called 'Nightmares of Indianapolis.
Not surprised Shane is a fan of his, Carlin is insanely talented at bringing to life these historical events through his retelling of them.
I suggest checking it out if you have not heard of it yet. 100s of hours of immersive content! You're welcome!
It reminds me of when Drunk History was funny.
Peepop we NEED more bedtime stories! I could listen to these guys talk history for hours and hours.
Theres been a dry spell on the OT atm regarding bedtime stories. Hopefully ill pick something up soon
@@NotoriousPeepop We all very much appreciate your efforts! I've known who shane is for a while now but only started really listening to his pod like last week and can't get enough man. It never fails to make me actually laugh out loud several times, and there are literally only a handful of pods that can do that for me. I know these are bedtime stories but I literally have to end up turning them off sometimes because I keep laughing as I fall asleep lmaooo. You the man for putting these together!
@@NotoriousPeepopdude I just finally started listening to MSSP & stumbled across your channel a couple days ago and now I’m fucking hooked. Been listening nonstop. Your channel rocks and the praise you receive in the comments is most deserved!
“Great fuckin hit dude, let’s go to sleep.” That fuckin killed me dude
If Shane wasn't a stand up, he'd be the best history teacher
Somewhere there's a history teacher that would make a great stand up
@@steratorefriends6596Then there’s me, a video editor, who is good at both, but too lazy and scared to do anything about it.
Pretty sure I once saw a History Channel show when I was a lot younger where a survivor of this whole thing talked about how after long enough without drinking water, some guys would start drinking saltwater instead out of pure desperation and if they had enough of it, it would basically make them hallucinate. One sailor who’d been drinking saltwater insisted to a small group of other sailors that there was a water fountain at the very bottom that they could all get to if they just swam down deep enough, so they all followed him down and ended up drowning with him. As Shane detailed, seems like pretty much everyone who died during those three days did so in a slow and/or horrific way.
I was taking a huge hit of weed at the part where Matt was like “I should find that captains son and send him hate mail” and it almost made me cough up a lung lol
You where just minding your business taking a hero's hit you are doing DaWgS work 😂😂
What's his name? @cleansethesoul
@@kangtheconqueror9545 Wtf are these usernames bruh

The captain committed suicide after the US had the Japanese sub commander testify at his court-martial.
“The water bends down”
Didn’t the military unjustly blame it all on the captain and even the Japanese were like ‘no he did all he could’
That part is absolutely true. The captain of the sub who sank the Indy testified on the captains behalf.
@@stefanfilipovits21Okay, that’s pretty honorable, Imperial Japanese’s usual cartoon villain antics aside lmao respectaru.
These history lessons are the best thing on the internet
I love when Shane does his Japanese voice!
Especially while strapped to a torpedo. "Huuuunnnhhh!"
Very Honnnahhrable
“The Submaroo” 😂
Sounds very scarily similar to Trey Parker from South Parks voice lmao

When I was in 5th grade we were supposed to write a simulated homesteaders journal entry and mine ended in a bloodspatter. Told the teacher the homesteader was attacked and killed by Comanche. Shamalamaed in '86!
"Ahh Zhapawneeze subarooo" - fucking had me rolling!

"You got soft hands, from counting money all your life."
We need more history teachers like Shane
randomly seeing matt in the corner halfway through tripped me out
Referring to the guy burning alive while being eaten by a shark a "s'more" is one of the funniest things ive ever heard
I did HVAC work for a contractor whose dad was 17 when this shit happened, he’s still kickin too!
Damn that’s incredible. I
I have a Japanese Type 99 that was sent home from a USN sailor. It had his name carved inside the upper handguard.. I searched his census records, found out where he was from and his USN number and found a whole bunch of cool info. He served on the USS Marathon and on its way back to port from Okinawa it passed the Indianapolis, it's documented that the crew waved to each other. The Marathon also fell victim to the one-man suicide submarine (Kaiten) while docked and lost about 35 crewman but they managed to repair and sailed home with POWs and a merchant ship. Shit is crazy.
I can’t listen to Shane’s Japanese voice without physically laughing out loud. I don’t know why it’s so funny, but if fucking kills me!
Literally same 😅😂😇 “a submarine” 😂😂😂
A Japonesuh submarooo
The drunk sailor from Jaws was the best character in the movie.
Robert Shaw was fucking amazing as Quint. But he’s amazing in everything he does: Bridge Over the River Kwai, The Hustler, and many more.
Love Shane’s histories
got to hear survivors of this talk about it several years ago. the silence after they told certain parts of the story I can still remember
This is amazing. Keep these videos coming!
this channel rules keep up the good work bud
bro just found your channel, loving it. keep killin dawg
Do the uss liberty next
Do you know the episode in which they talk about it?
My neighbor was on that boat. He told me they tried all different things to not get eaten by the sharks but nothing worked.
Something worked if he lived to tell you
@kgtl12345 yeah, luck
Aye like dolls eyes, those tiger sharks
Friendly fire in paintball🤣 Classic move
I really enjoy Shanes knowledge of US history
Matt: "I hit her with a shamalonian twist and she couldn't metabolise it"
How did I just come across these!!? I love history, esp WW2 history. And Shane is the shit! About to binge.
I made this image into a T-Shirt.
Thanks, bud.
the s’mores line killled me lololol
Shane would have been amazing on drunk history
Lol I love the “would have” context to your comment. I think we can all agree that “would have” is the correct adverb, because since the SNL bs, he’s been doubling, tripling, and quadrupling down on his lack of PC content. Never been so grateful for a social justice canceling, in my life.
@@Augusto_Pinochet said would have because drunk history doesn’t make new eps anymore but sure man whatever you say
@@Mitch-M Regardless of what your meaning was, I’m still correct.
Nothing about my comment assumes your rationale for using “would have”. I was simply stating why it stuck out to me, and how it was correctly used.
Never seen anyone get so bent out of shape by being told that someone agrees with them. Tell me you’re a masochist without telling me that you’re a masochist.
@@Mitch-M and Drunk History was absolute shit. That’s not even a subject opinion. If they stopped making episodes, then there’s a reason for it, and I’m truly not surprised.
@@Augusto_Pinochet you been waiting your whole life for this interaction huh? 😂
The Young Bull needs to do a history podcast!
My great uncle was on two ships that were torpedoed during WW2 and somehow lived..as he got older, shrapnel would start coming out of his skin.
That's fucking badass dude
@@Dinckelburg I know right.? Pretty hardcore.
A “Shyamalonian Twist”😂😂 so good
“We’re fighting a battle in the woods? I’m hitting a left dude, peace.”
Love Shane's history segments
“I don’t know I feel weird” 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
"A court of inquiry recommended a court-martial for McVay in September 1945, for his failure to zigzag and for taking too long to abandon ship. Commander Mochitsura of I-58 was given special permission to visit the United States to testify in the inquiry, and said that zigzagging would not have saved the Indianapolis."
The Japanese commander testified saying McVay couldn't have done anything differently. They made an example of McVay when in reality he was radio silent and on a top-secret mission. It took them four days to rescue him and his men even though three separate SOS messages were receieved. Bullshit. Those families shouldve been writing letters to the government for their incompetency not bullying a Captain for what seemed to be an inevitable tragedy on his part.
Watching this out of Indianapolis 🦾🖤💯
Indiana baby! Represent!!
4:53 still pops in my head all the time and never fails to make me laugh out loud
Dare ya to do something on the U.S.S. LIBERTY!!! Let's make it a DOUBLE FREAKIN' DOG DARE!!!😉 I like ya guy's, just a joke, looking into such things opens eyes, but will cost you a pay check!
Need more of these boss
Need a MSSP History pod. Weekly.
With Shane’s greatest historical facts
Shane’s recollection is pretty good if he didn’t recently read this story. I recently read it and he nailed almost all the numerical figures.
Please please do the Dragula returns paytch. The whole episode is the history of Germans and Iranians so fucking great 👍
Just for you buddy, Ill do it

War stories by Shane and Matt needs to be a regular topic.
Ohh Shane watched Jaws and learned something lol
6:22 made me actually spit out water. Kusky is so dam funny
Lmao god damn spit it out Shane haha how hard is to say “the captain of the boat in jaws”
I do love these though Shane should regale is with every book on tape he’s on every episode for a few minutes
"Roller burger" 🤣🤣🤣..
RIP Edgar Harrell a dude who rocked

Pat Tillman reference was gold.
At first I was heard 1000 crew size when mentioning a destroyer, which on Ang has 300 boys, Indianapolis was a Heavy Cruiser. I was always thought it was a destroyer. When a crew of 1200
"I hit my teacher with a Shamalonian twist dude..."
The shit matt says 😂😂😂
A cursory look at the Wikipedia article on this incident would, I think, lead an honest person to the conclusion that McVay's superiors fucked up by not responding to mayday calls. He took the fall for something that was out of his hands - "shit rolls downhill" as they say on The Wire.
Sharks we’re like “munch break”
USS Liberty could be a funny bit too...
“Skipper, get up there.”
Shane you really missed your calling as a high school history teacher… if I had one like you telling these stories I’d be so into that class! 🤓
My favorite bedtime story
The image of the Japanese soldier hitting that shot is fuckin spot on

"Dude, they taste like beef and cheese and beer, it couldn't be more different than fish and bean paste and rice wine. Go get some, I defy you not to enjoy it."
I was there. I’ll never forget it
i hope they still do this
That's so funny. I thought I was the only one when watching a movie like Braveheart and they're charging full blast. I always thought, Yeah I'd fall over and play dead for sure

Some of us suck at math, yo.
Lol
They should do one on the sinking of the USS Liberty
The "Zapenease" accent is the best
Watch the movie Jaws!!
The best scene in the movie is when an old sea captain is describing his experience on the US Indianapolis.
Submaroon is so fucking funny 😂😂😂
Does anyone know the interview that Shane is talking about in this?
They made a movie about this with Nicholas Cage. I don’t remember if the Captain killed himself in the movie, but maybe because I remember the Captain got like court marshaled and in serious trouble for “getting attacked” when he was the one on a secret mission without any backup support ships.
Cool now tell us about the USS Liberty
Captain Charles Butler McVay III, R.I.P., Chuck.
New game. Shark Russian Roulette. You and five other friends go into shark infested wuters. You all make a circle in the water holding hands. You wait until someone gets munched and then you all race back to the raft.

Bro if I was a survivor of that (which like no way I’m living through that, I would’ve definitely been compartmentalized knowing my luck), I’d swear vengeance on all sharks forever, I totally understand the Jaws’ dude’s attitude
Hell yeah that's from Jaws
