any way to add crafting limits? like set a limit to 50 rope, and any time our storage has less than 50 rope a tribemember will go and craft untill we are back to 50?
Nope, the chests don't have to be in clear vision or same floor. As long as the chests are within the area of the Bonfire, the NPCs should be able to find it. Try doing a "Reset Location" on the NPC. They sometimes bug out and not move.

They do... build a well or rain collector and they will auto get what they need if you have the container for it available in a chest

There is none. But that feature would be great if they add it in the future.
