I am a Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. When I watched this during General Conference, I was shaken and filled with love and joy! These children where wonderful and I can say with confidence that the Holy Ghost was with them when they sang, for I have no other explanation as to why I would have had a burning sensation in my heart at that time!
I was there live when these children sang this song, this recording is amazing but I can tell you that being in the building as they sang ranks among the most spiritual moments of my life. They were absolutely incredible and many of the 20,000 people at that meeting were in tears listening to them.
This is a one time choir. Every conference the church always gets a group of church members from a certain area and has them perform in a Saturday session. It’s different every time. This one was the most special imo. They sing three songs and I listen to them over and over again.
.Church members have to audition for the Tabernacle Choir. When you get into the Tabernacle choir, it’s for 20 years or when you turn 60, which ever comes first. You also can’t audition for it after you’re 55. With the choirs that perform in Saturday sessions the Church chooses an area in Utah and has members in that area come, if they want to, as long as they meet the requirements that the church has set for that specific choir. Sometimes it’s by age, sometimes they want an all men’s/boys choir or all women’s/girls choir, etc. This one was from northern Utah and obviously a children’s choir. They also cut it off at a certain age and they would at least have to be a certain age to do it. It’s announced in Church in the area that was chosen and whoever wants to participate can come as long as they live in that area and meet the criteria the Church has set for that specific choir. No audition is necessary. Because of all of that, it’s only a one time deal. The next General conference, it will be different choirs. My daughter had the opportunity to do it in 2007. It was an all young women’s choir and they had to be from 14-18 years old, I believe, I don’t remember. They tell them what colors they want them to wear, etc. They practice for probably 6 weeks or so, I also don’t remember. If you watch the Saturday evening session from this last conference, the Choir is formed of missionaries. The Tabernacle Choir always performs in the first session on Saturday and both sessions on Sunday
@Lily.Potter this particular choir did require an audition. They are also currently auditioning high schoolers from my county and a neighboring county for the upcoming April conference, so it's looking like this might start becoming more common rather than just assigning a specific stake.
This topic of Gethsemane is very important to members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They believe that Jesus Christ suffered for our sins, both on the Cross and in the Garden of Gethsemane. The scriptures say that in Gethsemane, Jesus sweat was as great drops of blood falling to the ground. This is why this song is so special to the members of the Church.
Just to clarify. These kids are not a organized choir these are just children from the church within a specific area of the state that were asked to sing in General Conference. Side note. Most "callings" of our church are a volunteer basis only. The Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square are actual callings you have to audition for, unlike other ones within the church.
This was actually an audition choir as well. If I remember correctly, about 2800 children auditioned. Three hundred something were selected and rehearsed weekly for a couple of months before general conference. They were able to gather again in November to sing for the church music festival broadcast from the tabernacle.
During this session of General Conference it was at night in South Africa 🇿🇦 and l watched and fell asleep while watching the speakers and l woke up to these angelic voices singing and l was sure l made to Heaven 😅 Thank you for this and your observations about the church are true, this is a church of order, it is the Savior's Church .❤
Believe it or not this is just a random kids choir that was put together just for this occasion and will probably never be assembled in this particular way ever again but we all sing as kids in every church all over the world
I cried, and I was watching from home! How powerful the voices of little children, nearest thing to heaven. Singing and praising Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and His Infinite Atonement. Majesticlly angelic!! ❤🙏🏼
Your enthusiastic reception of the choirs of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints, whether the Tabernacle choir, the BYU choirs or this angelic children's choir, you have shown tremendous appreciation for and sensitivity to the Spirit which is with them and their music. Thank you for sharing the music and the Spirit. You're a good man!
20,000 people, not a dry eye in the house. Just like in your home. Next Sunday, don't drive by, stop in for a few minutes. The worse thing that will happen is someone will shake your hand😊 As I watch many of your posts, I'm amazed at how your essence and demeanor changes so spectacularly when you go from worldly music to worship music. Awesome!
Thank you for the video about this wonderful choir. In case you are unsure why they are singing about Gethsemane, it refers to the Bible, Luke 22:44 "And being in an agony, he prayed more earnestly; and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground." Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believe that the atonement of Jesus Christ involved not one but two occasions of great suffering of Jesus, as he took upon himself the penalties of all our sins so that we could be absolved through repentance and following him. The first occasion of his suffering was in the garden of Gethsemane, where he was in agony so great that he sweat drops of blood, and the second occasion was the next day when he was crucified. This song honors what Jesus did in our behalf in his great atoning sacrifice for us, and focuses particularly on the phase of it that occurred in the Garden of Gethsemane.
we are all children of God! these children are coming unto Christ. they will be in various places, serve missions, have families and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with all the world. Jesus lives. He loves us!
Music is very important in our church. A hymn is a worship song to the Lord. I belong to a very tiny branch of this wonderful church. We have only 2 children in our congregation and the Primary leaders (What we call our children’s worship team) put as much effort into teaching music and hymns to those two children as they would if there were 100 children. Each child is a precious treasure who needs to be nurtured in the word of God. When children sing, angels listen!
I never get tired of listening and watching this remarkable rendition! It brings tears to my eyes every time and I can't express how much I love this special presentation of love to our Savior, Jesus Christ. It brings the Spirit to my heart again and again.
Music is important in the church. All the children in the church are taught singing as a way of worship in the home as well. The children in the church have their own hymn book. Children attend church with their families. It is Jesus’s church.
Everything of HIS Kingdom here on earth is Intentional. He leads it, He directs it, through a living Prophet like in days of old once again. Its a perfect work done by imperfect people trying to become perfect for HIM. Investigate it further with intent and find out for yourself. His intent is to gather ALL of the House of Israel that are "Willing" to be gathered throughout the World. You will know them by their fruits. You are seeing just "some" of the fruits in this here. You are feeling some of the gifts of the Spirit, and I will remind you, His Holy Spirit doesn't reside in unholy places or situations.
They don't have to recruit for the Tabernacle Choir there's a waiting list just to audition to be in the choir. But I agree there are future Tabernacle Choir members in that youth choir. They we're amazing.
A wonderful thing about this church is that they believe in growing their talents and the beauty that God has placed inside of them. Music is a sacred worship to God and there will never be a shortage in the church of people who want to audition for the Tabernacle Choir. Members of this church also believe that they are called in this life to share Jesus to others through their talents. The Holy Ghost is the sweet feeling that comes from them sharing their music and beautiful voices. ❤
They actually did have kids send in audition tapes for this one. I signed up for a church casting email list and this one came through a few months before confrence.
It's the Spirit that is testifying through them that what they are singing is true. Wherever truth is spoken , the Spirit testifies of that truth. It's the Spirit of Christ that you are feeling. We are blessed with His love , mercy, and grace. I say this In the name of Jesus Christ Amen.
This was just as amazing during our General Conference meeting in October. I was watching from a few states away, but I am sure it was glorious in person! Thank you for reviewing this performance. Yes, the Tabernacle Choir and Temple Square accepts volunteers from all the members of the Church . It is a rigerous application process and the person must be trained and has to have a great ability to read music and with music theory. Often they are musicians in their day job, singing with the choir a couple times per week. 😊 The whole process is quite impressive. 👏 How the children could achieve that as well is beyond earthly explanation. ❤ 😊
Thank you. You appreciating the choir made me as a lifelong member stop and appreciate what I often take for granted because I see it everyday. The spirit is moving upon you brother. The Lord is inviting you to learn more about His Church upon the earth….The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
I love your beautiful reaction. The tabernacle Choir grew from the early Welsh converts who brought the rich Welsh choir heritage. Some of my ancestors were part of those choirs. Music and the gospel of Jesus Christ is very important in our family. We have composers, singers, musicians

I loved your reaction and your perspective. I have been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints my whole life and I think this song by these children on that day was by far my favorite part of the conference. God bless you my brother. You are angelic too.
Most kids in the church sing like this. They start singing every Sunday from the time they turn three. And most of them love it. Very few, if any, of these kids will grow up to be in the Tabernacle choir.
Yes, this is a separate children's choir, and yes, you are correct that most will not end up in the Tabernacle choir. Yet I think his main point was that if children are singing this well, the Tabernacle choir will have no problem filling seats in the future. We are all so fortunate to be able to listen to the Prophets and choirs of the LDS church every 6 months share the word of God and absolutely beautiful music with us. You mentioned that you are familiar with the LDS church buildings, I hope that one Sunday you will step inside and let your heart be filled with the Word and Love of God. Blessings to you! Thank you for reacting to this song, it is one of my personal favorites. I get chills everytime I listen to it. ❤
I waited for your eyes to fly open knowing what was coming. I'm musically experienced but was completely caught off guard by the beauty of this when it was sung in Conference. I only got to hear it on my phone. I can't imagine how I would have reacted in person. I think we heard what an angel choir would sound like.
Taught in primary for a few years. Primary is one of the most spiritual places on the planet. Every time they sang songs like this, it was hard not to tear up. They are little angels and have the spirit with them.
I love this song, it reminds me of how patient Jesus is with me, and my flaws. But he wants me to move forward…he knows what I can do. I got a copy of this song from the church bookstore. I think it had other music on there, and it came with a booklet. I like to play it at Easter when I remember.
These are the primary children who were allowed to practice and sing. I have played the piano for primary for over 30 years in different wards and in different states. They always were a joy to play for so many children and so many families.
Loving your reactions to the tabernacle choir! I’m surprised you haven’t done their version of Battle Hymn of the Republic (my personal favorite). It’s quite powerful!
My cousin's daughter was in the choir when they performed this song at the General Conference that day. So proud of her and the song is a beautiful, healing one for sure!
An amazing performance! Almost worthy, if anything could be, of the words being sung: "The hardest thing that ever was done, The greatest pain that ever was known, The biggest battle that ever was won- This was done by Jesus!"
I teach one of these children, art class, she's an angel. They are a Separate Chior from Utah Valley, not part of the Tabernacle Choir. Thank you for posting this.
i am a proud member of the church of jesus christ of latter day saints and sing along proudly to every song that comes across praising the majesty and doctrines of Christ.
These children aren’t just singing. They are testifying. This song is pure gospel doctrine of Jesus Christ.
You are so right with this. Thanks so much
You can genuinely feel the spirit through these little angels ❤ I'm a member and a disciple of Jesus Christ and this gives me chills every time❤

I found my son singing this song in the kitchen one evening. I quietly recorded him with tears in my eyes. The fight was won by Jesus.
Now this is it. Glory to THE ONE
How precious! I would have cried too.
I think this is my all time favorite Primary song! And the kids love singing it! It always sounds like angels are singing with them.

listen to “We thank thee o God for a Prophet” from the 2024 october general conference
This gave me chills
This graaama has goose bumps in listening to this beautiful choir :)💕
When I watched it back in October, it touched my heart.
Simply Angelic, I expect Heaven will sound like this!
Loving your reactions to the tabernacle choir! I’m surprised you haven’t done their version of Battle Hymn of the Republic (my personal favorite). It’s quite powerful!
It's a slice of heaven because it's the true Church of Jesus Christ
My daughter and her friends sang this at their baptism 12 years ago it still gives me chills.
I cry every time I hear them sing this song!
It absolutely a slice of Heaven! ❤
i am a proud member of the church of jesus christ of latter day saints and sing along proudly to every song that comes across praising the majesty and doctrines of Christ.
I listen to that version of that song several times a week. Thank you for sharing your feeling from it.
