We popped over to the show with our vintage caravan and series 1 jaguar tow car. My miss took her Austin 1100. I've never seen conditions like it in July. I ended up towed in by a lovely chap with a little grey ferguson. However the Austin somehow skipped across the mud and up the hill unassisted. It was my first visit to Ducklington and I must say the organisers handled the conditions fantastically. I'm not put off by this year and hope next year the weather is more forgiving. Great video that captured the conditions fantastically. Thank you for sharing.
Interesting video of my local rally. I decided to let things dry out a bit and go on Sunday. I managed to find other things to do but felt truly gutted for everyone involved there. I'll be visiting Fairford if the weather plays ball!
Gutted for the organisers and exhbitors. It is just down the road from me and we we usually attend for a wander round. There was an inch and a half of rain on Friday, plus the winds and additional rain on Saturday. We also also had a big scout camp nearby with 700 kids and 200 leaders. I understand getting onsite there was equally challenging
My sympathies are mostly with the organisers. It's a huge amount of effort to go to waste, not to mention the money. Can only imagine how the scouts got on!!
Hey Dan, I have built a 4 inch Fowler showman’s here in Western Australia and wonder if you have plans for the trailer you are towing behind your engine, it would suit my engine for giving the kids rides. Great video, bet the beer tent did a roaring trade😁🍺
Ha. Yeah, the only thing I'll probably do with the trailer is add more seating. I managed to buy for an absolute song, and it's very much part of the future.
Looks like it was a good turnout despite the weather forecast - I was due to be at Market Laverton but they cancelled that. Certainly West Oxon looks like a good rally to pencil in for 2024
Oh dear, thats what you call a damp one, I think in the ten yrs I've been doing rallys I've only had one that was about a half as bad as that one. Must admit at the moment I'm glad I've not got anything booked until August given the current placement of the ruddy jet stream. Loved the way you were the last to get off the engine to assist pushing over the mud , take my hat off to your dedicated assistant 🙂
Yeah, I've not yet achieved a level of comfort that allows me to easily jump of the engine with the regualtor open, but it had to be done. Luke was fantastic as usual! I've got 2 weekends off shows now, so a little time to recover and clean!!!!
Hello Dan, It was definitely a challenge and great to see people put on a brave face,we gave gave up about 4oclock Saturday afternoon and never did steam the model, straight to the beer tent 😂😂😂😁,we also had four wheel drive so wasn't to bad I like the clip of you going across the mud bath.which rally do you plan on doing next, Dave.
It's a real pain to be honest. It's twice the price it used to be, and isn't easy to track down. I've got a ton sat at home, so I'm OK at the moment, but when that rus out I've have to tackle the issue.

Fairford is going to be stonking. So many exhibits booked in and the weather looks better.

Yeah, really good vibe. Proper rally, but without the fussiness of some.

@@SteamOTR Ah yes the dreaded cleaning, I'm in too minds regarding a mud or dust, a dusty rally I think can be often worse than a muddy one.

Not 100% sure it'll be either South Cerney or Taunton!
@@SteamOTR we're hoping to do Bedford and Kettering next
How are you guys going with the coal supplies, heritage railways are realy struggeling, both supply and price

Unfortunately, an engine driver's nightmare.
Wasn't easy, but hoping for better this year
I am now RUclips famous help 😮😂
