Using watercolours on them with a brush is such a good idea! The reason why I haven't taken out my glass pen is because the 2 inks I have don't work very well with it/don't look so nice, but I have really pretty shimmer watercolours 😭 I can't wait to try this out now

Depending on the break, it is might be possible to sand the point with 320 grit sandpaper or a fine nail file to make the pen work again. That being said, it is likely that sanding the tip will change the thickness of the line - which is not always a bad thing.

Ah! Thank you for this! I couldn't manage my glass pen when I first bought it about two years ago but... I was using India inks! I dusted off my old glass pen today and tried it out with watercolors (liquid dye based watercolors, and watered down tube watercolors and of course metallic watercolors brushed onto the pen tip, used mostly on mixed media paper) and I was having so much success. I'm totally obsessed and inspired now, thinking of all the ways I can utilize my gorgeous glass pen.
Question: do you notice much difference in the pens writing ability between; 1. The hand blown glass pens and the mass produced glass pens? 2. Between the two different nib styles like the long straight nib vs the teardrop shape nib?

I absolutely love my Amazon glass pen. I also use the exact same gold ink. It's the one I find works best with it. I cannot, though, seem to get it to work well with inkjet printer refill ink.. I use it a lot for painting, but I find that I need to buy proper writing and drawing inks for my pens. My fountain pens, ofc will never be used with anything aside from fountain pen ink, or maybe food coloring once one starts to break/wear. See if that 'hack' works.. Love the videos. I thought I had wasted money on my glass pen until I found which inks work best. Ultra Black Chinese ink and Dr Ph Martin's. Other dip pen inks work ofc.

I paid only $5 for mine from Amazon. Just FYI all glass pens are hand blown. Some are crazy ornate and gorgeous and you can spend as much as you want. I love my $5 pen from Amazon. They're too expensive to make commercially. They'd have to charge us ALOT IF $$$. Hand blowing them is better for us and the people that blow these pens I love mine. It was messy the first time I opened my ink. I really love faux calligraphy and glass pens can only do mono-line lettering. I'm better at Faux but I'm getting better with brush pens.

If you can make it work without ripping the page that may work! Or maybe you could try a new one and see if it's doing the same thing?
