Rik you have made my day with this recipe I've stopped bying HP and Daddies the last ones I bought I threw them in the bin to much of a vinegar taste I will have a go at your creation ❤ by the way I live in Birmingham and I used to catch the bus to work outside the HP factory and all you could smell was vinegar in the air Happy days 😂
Thanks for your cooking videos Rik. Please keep them coming. Out of interest, is that a regular portable camping stove you’re using and if so, are they ok to use indoors ? Reason for asking is that I currently cook on a ceramic hob and occasionally would like to use gas, especially for curries etc. I was thinking of buying something similar but the gas stoves state outdoors only. All the best, Dan.
Dan have a look here in my shop page amzn.to/3QY8LMm its amazon but don't worry it will take you straight to what i recommend. I use one everyday - I make all the curries for Not Another Curry Show on there and as you have seen i make most of the meals on the stove for this channel. They are brilliant mate. Indoors they are as safe as anything. Actually have a look at this video on my other channel skip through to the stove you will see how the gas goes in etc ruclips.net/video/2ZYsi2U1DbU/видео.html Best, Rik
Hi Rik, I am just getting down to the last dregs of my last bottle of HP here in China so finding your excellent video was great timing! I can get HP here but at a price😂 What do you think would be needed to get it closer to HP? Where are you based if you don’t mind me asking?
Very pricey in Asia. I'm in Thailand. Not too sure and that's honesty - its a great brown sauce I make it all the time because of the expense and it tastes fantastic as time goes on. Its a close one. Best, Rik
I actually put in jars and can it under boiling water for 10 mins. When my sauce bottle is empty I put the content of the jar into the bottle. That way I only use what I need and the jars last all year. Best, Rik
I have not tried to make Branston Pickle myself. I do not have the cooking prowess you have. I have tried your Madras and Jalfrezi and they were fantastic. With all the shortcuts you teach (Baked Onions as BIR gravy). I am now having a curry every second day! @@BackyardChef
High Paul - yes ive just searched and there are many with vanilla - here is one that I can see hasn't amzn.to/3OSYkac - yes its amazon but easy to check. Best, Rik

Wonderful! Thank you. Best, Rik
Thanks for this! I’ve made different HP sauce recipes before but I believe yours is the closest.
Thank you. It's really good after a few weeks. I use it all the time. To be honest in the HP bottle. No one has a clue. Best, Rik
I see now why you didn't have a store-bought brown sauce recommendation. I get tired of the standard premade stuff. I'll be making this. Thanks Rik.
Thank you. Nice sauce I have bottles of it here. Can be tailored to taste, as you know. Best, Rik
Yummy my dad always had HP in the cupboard at home in England and in Australia, I love it too 😊
Hi Sue, Yeah I love the stuff - was brought up on it - really expensive here in Thailand so I make my own. Best, Rik
ooh i love brown, specially on a pork pie
Yes please. Best, Rik
HP have moved production to Holland so we now buy Hammond's Chop Sauce
Thanks for your cooking videos Rik. Please keep them coming.

Hello mate, how would you store it? How long will it last please? Cheers!!

As a fellow UK expat living in Thailand, have you ever thought of making Branston Pickle?
I have indeed - you cannot buy swede here. Only imported in at the same price as buying gold. Best, Rik
Could you not use Thai Turnip or Mooli as a replacement for Swede?@@BackyardChef
I have - by the sound of it you have tried to make it? How'd it turn out. Best, Rik

Nice one !
Can you use honey or maple syrup instead of corn syrup?
It is worth a go - let me know if you make it. Best, Rik
What is the corn syrup I see many with a vanilla flavour
High Paul - yes ive just searched and there are many with vanilla - here is one that I can see hasn't amzn.to/3OSYkac - yes its amazon but easy to check. Best, Rik
I bet if you add Worsheshire sauce it will taste like HP😊
Could do. Thank you. Best, Rik
Dates in the video, but not the recipe. You do do a great job anyway. Thanks.
