I hate people who break bottles in rivers & lakes. I might have told you this story before the last time you was bottle hunting?
I cut my foot on a two lt.bottle when I was a kid trying to catch minnows off a raff s@ our houseboat dock. I had another younger kid on the raff with me & when I jumped off the raff to get the minnows in my net, came up empty handed, & cut my right foot wide open. I kid on the raff was screaming & was in shock bc of all the blood of the raff. I yelled @ him to paddle us to the dock & he wouldn't move. So I grabbed the paddle & got us back to the dock. Well after I got us @ the dock. The dumba** jumped off the raff before I could grab a hold of it & shot me back across the lake. He went screaming down the dock as I was paddling my way back to the dock to get help.
All the grown-ups come running & wrapped my foot up & off the Skaggs hospital down in Branson, Missouri I go in my Dad's Trans-AM. He made me stick my foot out the window so I wouldn't bleed all in the inside.
We got there & had to wait over 3 hours for the doctor bc he was @ a party. They stuck my foot in this brown liquid stuff. I now think it was Betadine solution. We could of drove back to Springfield, Missouri in an hour & probably been back to the lake by the time that doctor got done with his stupid party. Yep, made a 12 yo kid set there with her foot in betadine solution for over 3 hours. My Dad was so pi**ed off so bad he layed into that doctor for making him, me, my Mom wait that long. Mom & I was so imbaransed of my Dad being an a**hole to everyone.
The bad part about all this is that young kid became a doctor. Can you believe that one. Ha,ha,ha. Just crazy about that part of the story & I too went into the medical field, even though I got my Associates degree in Medical Assistanting. I went into the laboratory part of my training. Good thing I did. My Mother & I went to college together & when she would go to her doctor appointments & needed lab work done, I was the only one that could get blood out of her. Same in school. No one else could get blood out of her. She has hard veins to hit. Took me awhile to learn to get blood out of her.
Some of the stories I had when I drew blood was I haven't had nothing to eat or drink all night. I would answer DO you usually get up in the middle of the night & eat you a sandwich & drink a coke? Well no not really. I said you'll live & I'll give you some orange juice & crackers. I wouldn't let my own kids eat that sh*t. Taste like cardboard & the juice was so tart. Yuck!
Another one was......... A teenager would come in for a blood work up after seeing her OB/GYN doctor bc she was pregnant, Mother of daughter was smiling from ear to ear, made me sick, & the little girl would come in & say, I hate needles. I'd say then you shouldn't of gotten pregnant then. You think this little needle hurts your into a rude awaking when you have this baby. Her Mother, most Mothers, would say don't tell her that. I said then you should of taught your daughter about the birds & the bees & your stupid for being happy about it. Use to make my blood boil. But they got what they wanted I guess.
Just an FYI to all who gets there blood work done here & there. You can have sips of water when you get up. Just don't drink a whole glass fast before blood work. Also if you have little veins. Drink a lot of water 2 days & day before your blood work. You'll be surprised how much bigger your veins will be. Also when the put the tourniquet on your arm, hold your arm down by your side & pump your hand into a fist a few times, it will make your veins pump up & if you can run your arm & hand under warm water. Warm water makes your veins pop out, and Coldwater will restrict your veins.
Just a few tips to the troubled blood donors of blood work ups out there in the world. Just trying to help so you don't have to be stuck more then 3 times. Bless your little hearts!

Streams, creeks, and rivers, back in the day, were basically used as convenient trash cans. Just crazy.
