I used it last week along with my Arccos Link Pro. I had no issues using both at the same time. If you have a Garmin watch, the Z30 appears to be getting the plays like info and distance to front and back info from the watch - not the Garmin golf app on the phone. So long story short, you can use this and Arccos at the same time without a problem.
I purchased the Garmin approach Z30 laser rangefinder and I really like it. The laser feature is fast and spot. The distance to the back and front of the green is very informational. It locks on to the pin really quick and I got the vibrationevery time. However, I’m going to returning it to Golf Galaxy because I am pretty good at my distances and hitting near the pin. I currently have the Garmin approach Z82 and everything works great. so this unit doesn’t work for me and there is no benefits for me to make a $400 purchase for something that does what my current rangefinder does. Overall, it’s a great golf range Finder and it's even better if you have a Garmin gps watch. I hope Garmin adds the range relay feature to the Z82 since it would only require a software update.
Hey Sean. Great video again. Based on our previous chat my current setup is the S70 watch and Arccos. I find this works really welll for me (I keep score on the watch and use for yardages and this also helps validate the arccos post round, which is then awesome for shot tracking). So I’m super keen on this to pair with the s70 but you make a valid point around arccos. I don’t use the Garmin app while playing but don’t want to find out by using arccos on my phone that this then doesn’t transfer the data to range finder… I was hoping the data path is watch to rangefinder, not phone to rangefinder…. Have you done any further testing or have come has anyone had any issues? Thanks as always.
Help me understand how to steady the view finder bullseye. I have a very, very difficult time getting the button pushed without giggling the bullseye off the target?
I bought this and returned it already. I am a huge Garmin fan (Epix watch and Garmin Golf tips on my clubs). The pin on the map was cool and worked when I can actually get the flag. Getting this range finder to actually capture the pin was a nightmare for me. Very inconsistent distances one try to the next as it sometimes got the pin, or a tree behind it or the slope in front of it. frustrating for me. took it back as it's not cheap and kept Bushnell.
Quick question for those of you that have this z30. If you are left of a green (say front to back 20 yards and left to right 10 yards). And you are directly left of the green (at 9’o clock position). You shoot the pin and it’s 15 yards away (say the pin is in the middle of green). Will the front back display +/-5 with 15 being the pin (from your position, which would be helpful) or +/-10 with 15 being the pin (left right dispersion from your vantage point) which I would argue to be less useful. I currently have the Epix Gen 2 and am considering getting the z30 and would love to know whether it would be able to understand your relative position to the green. Thanks.
Very interesting device…would be useless to me as I can’t read a watch while playing without putting on some reading glasses…I’ve been using the Z82 which has all the data in the viewfinder which I prefer…I also use a Cobalt and a Leupold, but the Z82 has been the one I most often use at the moment…
Do yoy have any reviews on putting aids/mirros?? Don’t see any on your channel aside from the recent putting mat video. Would love to see some! Awesome review by the way!
Does the z30 adjust distances to the pin on the garmin app as well? I don’t currently have a watch but I’m wondering if I will be able to use the features through the app in the meantime
I purchased the precision pro titan and I haven't been able to figure out the gps feature. Errors on all the courses I've played. Not very happy about it
@rj3_golf yes, on 3 of the courses the gps map was correct but the lines for the holes was off. And I when I switch holes on the app it wouldn't switch on the titan. I couldnt display any other holes besides 1 I feel like going to the app everytime just to change the hole was very distracting. I returned it. I'll stick with my s70 and my nx9 slope 😅
@@MrRanpastrana yeah I think the app still has some updates/bugs to the gps it still needs figure out. It’s overall a great rangefinder but for the price, plus if it’s not working correctly, there are better options. I’ve used the blue tees, bushnell pro x3, precision pro R1 and Titan Elite but so far my favorite has been the titan. Just a bummer the gps features didn’t work for your courses
@rj3_golf yeah, precision pro is great. I've owned the nx9 slope for a while. It's been perfect. Love the titan construction. As soon as they fix it I'll buy it again.
@@MrRanpastrana also, if you didn’t know they do a upgrade program. You just put in your serial number and they send you a code. I got my titan for $280
I sold the Z82 because I get fed up having to changing the hole, slice my drive on the 1st and it would think I’m on the 18th, considering it’s the start of the round a little software tweak realising I can’t be playing the 18th after 5 minutes would solve that, does this new one have the same issue ? in theory it should get the hole number from the watch
I personally probably wouldn’t go for the z30 if I didn’t use a Garmin watch. It’s fine on its own, but there are better options for less money. The z82 is fine on its own without a watch.
Great review but no thanks….I’ll keep my Z82. It locks on to the flag easily and best of all I have a hole layout on the left side of the picture. The Z30 is an attempt to sell their watch and pair it to the G30….no thanks
So are you saying that you not only need to buy this device but also a Garmin watch? No way Jose! I'll stick with what I have. If you can just use your phone instead of the watch then it's pretty cool. On the flip side I have a standard range finder and the free Hole 19 GPS app. I can pretty easily work out where the flag is based on readings from both.
Honestly, they're both really different. So tough to say if one is better than the other, just depends on what you're looking for. Personaly, I'd go with Z30.
So I gave this idea to Garmin in 2020, but they still didn’t get it quite right… let’s be honest, the software is useless if the device distance only reaches 400 yards.. example: if you drive the ball 250 (35 yards shorter than my average) on a average par 4 of roughly 450 yards, you’ll still need to shoot the pin on the second shot, leaving your watch or any additional device useless.. hopefully they’ll get it right in the future, but for now, it’s a waste of money.
Rangefinder and watch, how much messing about.. possibly the most pointless overkill golfers could ask for.. if the unit already gives you front middle and back and then how far from the pin to the back or front you already will know where on the green it is.. no need for the watch.. if you are checking you range finder then your watch it’s going to be a longer process..

Found your channel a few months ago and it’s in my favorite new golf channel for 2024
Best comment I could receive. Thank you!

You make great videos man! Props and thanks 🙏
Great review! I like your critical remarks and how you balance them with the strongpoints.
I do my best to be as unbiased and objective as possible with all my reviews - so this means a lot!
Just purchased the nr1 range finder.

Can i use it this for wildlife spotting ? seems like a good contender.

this sounds like user error tbh
If I had a 50% discount code, but no plans on using the watch or others, would you say this is worth it?

Near perfect, if it had the triangulation feature of the cube rangefinder I’d buy it in a heart beat. Are you listening Garmin lol
Interesting but I already got everything I need in my Z82 and S62.
Ok I am sold
Thats all we need...more information just so we can hit it fat lol. 99.9% of amateurs need an apprx distance and thats it lol
I purchased the precision pro titan and I haven't been able to figure out the gps feature. Errors on all the courses I've played. Not very happy about it

Is the Voice Caddie TL1 still available at the $280 price you mentioned? I see it for $350 on the site. =(
Doesn’t the colour of flag tell you whether it’s front centre or back? It does throughout most of NZ!
My local course does (west australia) Certainly cheaper than a rangefinder 😅
Where can you get the TL1 for $280? I see it for $350 but not $280.
Right here: breakingeighty.com/tl1/
@@breakingeighty thanks!
iam sure there is a similar option on Temu

welcome to consult me about oem odm Golf rangefinder

Any chance it is compatible with Apple Watch?
Unfortunately not!
18 birdies app and an apple watch tho
Are either of these rangefinders worth buying if you don’t have a Garmin golf watch?
I personally probably wouldn’t go for the z30 if I didn’t use a Garmin watch. It’s fine on its own, but there are better options for less money. The z82 is fine on its own without a watch.
Does it work with the Apple Watch?
I have the Garmin Z82 and S70 smartwatch. Does the Z82 also have the ability to sync the pin with the watch?
It doesn't. That's why I sold my Z82.

Is this a $1000 rangefinder?
Shame the flag lock-on isn't quicker. Deal breaker for me
So which one is better ? Z30 or Z82
hahahaha
Honestly, they're both really different. So tough to say if one is better than the other, just depends on what you're looking for. Personaly, I'd go with Z30.
