A golf course is just an under developed 1500 yard rifle range.

You mean a leveled up rifle range with hill and bunker placement just to add a little difficulty

I would rather shoot at a golf course any day over a shooting range.

I had the same thought, but the police disagreed with me...

I would have been interested in more comparisons such as, "how to use my golf rangefinder for hunting" and vice versa. I personally I hunt and shoot with the same co-workers that I play golf with during the summer, and I'd much prefer to have a single rangefinder. My hunch is that the golf model (with the pin locator turned off) might be better for hunting than the other way around. Obviously Vortex would say, "buy both." That's not going to happen.

I was hoping for an answer to this question too! I'm looking at optics and range finders on the used market and its flooded with golf range finders and few hunting ones

I’ve used my hunting rangefinder for golf, absolutely functional.

Good overview of the new products. Unfortunately, I'm new to the game and was hoping for more of a comparison of golf vs hunting range finders. Which is the better "do it all" if you can only get one?

I looked at range finders recently as I shop for all my optics (new hunter) and I saw so many golf range finders! I had this same question, less than a week ago, great timing guys!

I don't play golf or hunt but found this quite entertaining as I was curious to know the difference between the two rangefinders.

My old vortex ranger sucks on the golf course. Unless the pin has a reflective strip on it, it’s nearly impossible to hit the pin with it.
Do these new golf specific ones have tech to more easily acquire the stick?

Now adapt these rangefinders to hunting. Instead of a pin finder mode, have a pig finder mode, so if while scanning it detects a pig it will stop scanning and a picture of a pig shows on the screen and gives the distance.

Hopefully you will produce these in colors or put them in cases that stand in the black interior of a golf cart. I personally have left my range finder in the cart many times.

I paid 79$ for my rangefinder. Does angles, elevation, distance up to 1000m ( not that i can see that far with it) cant see me spending anymore unless i wanted to see further for long range target shooting

The PGA had to "Tiger Proof" and make the course longer because Tiger Woods was hitting the ball way farther (breaking records) than the whole field back in the 90's .. GOAT!!!

When i was in the market for a rangefinder i was looking for a budget friendly sub $250 i ended up going with the Leopold rx1400i over the vortex 1400 cause i didnt like the black display cause it was hard to see. Im a big fan of vortex optics.

As far as I know, angular calculations are banned for tournament Golf. You might miss out on the pro market... For me though? I'm saving for the Fury 5000 HD AB. In terms of Golf I just go "Surely I can hit that far. Then again, maybe not Edit: It would be awesome if there was a switch on the outside of the unit to disable the angular feature in order to lessen the frequency of having to hand over the unit to tournament officials for inspection, and avoid any other potential hassles. Golf is a strange animal

I have one of thier monoclurs; would love to have one of thier top of the line monoclurs (1 hand models), with some of these wizard features as well as the military dot system. Yeah I know I ask alot, but who has endless piles of cash to spend on endless products. I need something to help these old eyes that my descendents can use as well. And how many of us live on social security. Not anyone's fault I think there might be a market for it??? Thanks!
