Great video, the first shot is the one that counts when hunting, the barrel is cold, I shoot three shots then let the barrel get cold and shoot another 3 shot group, I can normally get a dime size group at 100 yds reloading with nosler partition bullets and 1and 1/2 to 2 lb smooth trigger pull and proper breathing technique, worst group with any of my rifles at 100 yds was nickel size. I use the same basic rifle rest as you. I used to shoot professional archery tournaments for many years, and that was where I learned breathing technique and a manageable light trigger pull, but I took gunsmith courses and I do all my own trigger and and rifle accurizing work, the rifle rest isn't causing a problem, It's barrel heating up between groups, I'm not a know it all by any means but I have shot thousands of bullets over many years and I love it!!! Definitely a fan of your videos and your enthusiasm, best of luck 👍

Unless you are allowing that barrel to come back down to temp its not a "cold bore shot" I know you know this but when the metal heats up it changes the harmonics and it will whip and toss shots. Kinda hard to compare ammo unless you allow the barrel to cool to same temp before every ammo change

    • @russellehrgood9835
      @russellehrgood9835 Год назад

For testing you have to use the same parameters, hot or cold barrel. You could make the argument that last ammo through the barrel would not shoot the same or worse as cold or mildly temperatured barrel. Unless you waited till the barrel was completely cold to test.

This is one of my favorite ones so far, and a non shinny finish. My dad stripped his custom delux 700 back in the early 80s cause it caused him a deer. Sun hitting the stock made a glare as he rose to fire the shot. Said he saw the light run tru the trees as he moved, we stripped it and put a full finish in it. Sorry long comment, just a favorite story of mine. Thanks again WTW. 👍🇺🇸

I shoot norma 140 , same as what you are shooting. I shoot it out of a tikka . .5 inch group . You can’t shoot 20 or 25 rounds and then expect your last group to be great , your barrel is too hot . You’re basically misleading people on what ammo to use . If this is what you are going to do , please do it correctly. I like you I like your channel. I know you say it’s real life and that’s how you do it , but it’s not a good representation of the ammo . So I would suggest a three shot group, then a barrel cool down , then another three shots. Just a suggestion. Take it or leave it . I mean no disrespect . You have a cool fun channel.🇺🇸👍🏼

Interesting outcome. I saw the first video and was impressed.
I shot 28 rounds off the bench in my 300RUM last weekend and 30 rounds of 210g ABLR out of my 300WM Sendero. Got a small bruise as I had only shot 14 rounds the previous weekend due to the weather. Keep these videos coming, I love them.

With my Weatherby 300mag, first 3 shots are dead nuts on center sighted in at 100yds. As the barrel heats up, the groups gradually get worse and worse. Using 165g Nosler ballistic tip. Actual hunting, I've never shot more than 2rds at one time. Also, Weatherby recommends a 20 shot break-in. 3 shots, clean barrel, 3 shots, clean barrel, etc...

Now we see which has the best grouping. Now we need to see which boolot expands and which ammo just passes right on thru! The 6.5 CR is traveling pretty fast so which one expands the best.

I saw an older video you did about a Remington 770 in 7mm Rem Mag you bought for $199. You were hitting steel out to 1000 yards! That is amazing. With hand loads you could win a lot of bench rest matches with that gun in factory rifle.
As for this video you should test each ammo brand under the same conditions! Cold clean barrel. You have no valid data starting with a cold barrel and ending with a very hot barrel. Most likely the results would be very different if all brands were tested under the same conditions!

I’ve never seen that full boar stuff. I do have some Hornady Outfitter with the GMX bullets, and my .270 loves that stuff. I think they’re a solid copper bullet for those California fruits who can’t play with lead! The Hornady American Whitetail (129 grain Interlock SP) is real similar to the Norma Whitetail, and does real well in all my rifles. Most of the hunting ammo I reload uses the Hornady Interlock SP bullets.

That little 7.62x39 in Ruger American using steel case ammo drills em hole in hole..... love your reviews. Good content, very entertaining and useful information. Merry Christmas 🎄 and a happy new year 🇦🇺👍🎄God bless Big Trev

Not sure what Adams answer would be but imo to answer your question about why people use paper plates is because when I was growing up it was one of easiest things to grab and use at the rifle range and back in the day most folks would say if you can hit a paper plate at 100 you can kill a deer! Plus too white against a black hole is fairly easy to see with the naked eye!

You need to look at that Hornady American Hunter target again, its a lot bigger than a 1” group if you count the bullet hole in the”gr” of 129 gr. I understand the use of the lead sled with the amount of shooting you do but think you’d get better results with bags. Why don’t you wrap your thumb over the comb of the stock? Great videos!

Have you tried cleaning your barrels with bore paste, like JB bore or Lasslo? If you try one of these bore pastes, you will see all the bore fouling in your patches and much tighter groups. I run the bore paste after about twenty to fifty rounds. It is amazing how this bore paste tightens up groups.

I’m really surprised you found any of the Norma 6.5 CM ammo. I checked with Norma a couple months ago and asked when they were going to restock and they couldn’t, or wouldn’t, confirm that they were even going to run that caliber, in any version, any time soon. It’s going to be a while before we see 6.5 CM ammo available from Norma again, if at all.
That’s too bad too because I had really good luck with the 308 and 243 ammo I purchased from them. I was looking forward to trying their 6.5 CM ammo as well. Excellent pricing, shipping times, and accuracy. Don’t get me wrong here. The hunting ammo is not match grade by any means but everything I shot still held sub MOA groupings without the assistance of any shooting rests or sleds. That’s pretty damned good for hunting ammo IMO.

If you're hunting and you shoot at a deer that is a cold bore shot if it's not where you are aiming it's not good a tight group after that is useless unless you have a touch and warm the barrel before you shoot that's just my opinion keep the video coming

I would highly suggest ditching the lead sled and shooting with a front rest and rear bag. Those lead sleds are know for throwing wonky groups. I've never been able to get anything from a lead sled to shoot as well as I could off bags or a bipod and bags. The rifle can't recoil properly in the sled.

Not to mention the sleds are known for destroying scopes. All that energy from the recoil that your body would normally soak up has to go some where.

Lead sleds are known to be a real stock destroyer. Common sense should ask the question. Where’s all that recoil being absorbed?… Stock and scope rings. Boyd’s Stocks have made a fortune off this stock killer.
