I really like this Saltcoats manager, speaks very well, gave a great sales pitch to local players to get involved. Wish them all the best. Fair play to the sub keeper haha
Admission, a pie and a coffee for well under a tenner, that's great value. This video encapsulated what makes non-league football not only different but special.
The wee lad Brodie who’s grandfather is Derek Frye is a football legend in Ayrshire. Also played at Dundee Utd- Stranraer - Ayr Utd & QOS. Also managed at Queens - Annan - Gretna to name a few. 👍a great man.
Another great video. They do more to promote Scottish football at all levels than anything the SFA can do! In the last season I've visited a few junior grounds because of your channel, like I'm sure lots of other people have done. Saltcoats looked as windy as always!
Brilliant video Sam, have been a subscriber for a couple of years or more now. Loved the passion of the saltcoats manager, came across very well. Brilliant interactions with the young rangers fan as well 👍 Your passion for football really shines through in every video you do, keep up the amazing work with this amazing channel you have built.
I love grassroots football! Here in Norway I'm the public announcer at the local football teams home matches at level 6 in our league pyramid. The top football is so commercialised , especially in the top ranked countries of Europe, and it has distanced itself from ordinary people. So grassroots football is much better to watch.
Excellent video ! Really glad I saw it because by coincidence, I was at that same game as a groundhopper too. And I had been thinking to myself that in nearly 50 years of watching senior football, I had also never seen a goalkeeping sub come on and play outfield and then later, swap positions with the original goalkeeper ! Good fortune that you chose the match where that happened, especially after having spoken to the keepers before the game. Keep up the good work. 👍
It's great to have your match videos back, especially in the Scottish non-league. 🙂 I'm hoping to attend matches at as many grounds as I can, in my local areas, this season!
i will recommend to come over to Norway 27th September to watch the semi final in the Norwegain cup between Kjelsås and Molde, Kjelsås is in the third tie of Norwegian football will Molde is currently on 2nd place in the Norwegian Premier League
Yes he is back cheered me up your back making Scottish football content welcome back Sam hope you enjoyed your trip to Bangkok & malaysia.are you attending flag day at Celtic park?
The record attendance at this ground is apparently 10000. Incredible to imagine what that was like. I used to watch Largs Thistle quite a bit when I was wee. They're a tiny club (but seem massive compared to Saltcoats). Always a good time.
Have a great appreciation for Saltcoats Vics. Ran a charity game at their stadium years ago. They lent us kits, facilities, players, and equipment, all for free. Great people run the club. Real club for the community 👍
You must come to Molde for the 2nd leg of Molde vs. Klaksvik from the Faroe Islands in the Champions League 3rd Qualifying round on Aug 15. Klaksvik has stunned Ferencvaros of Hungary & Hacken of Sweden to get this far. Their coach, in his 1st job as head coach is former Molde legend Magne Hoseth who played for Molde when we were in the CL in the 1999/2000 season. His assistant is Daniel Berg Hestad, another Molde legend, the player with most matches for Molde ever. Vegard Forren, who scored the decisive penalty against Hacken also has many years as a Molde player behind him, but was sacked by the club in 2020. Last season he played at level 3 here in Norway. Another former Molde player is also in the Klaksvik squad. It's a definite sell-out, and you will love the stadium as it's situated by the sea. Norways finest stadium. Or maybe you should go the 1st match in The Faroe Islands, have you ever been there?
Great vid as usual Sam. Love this level of football. My local team Kello Rovers were playing yesterday as well in the WOSFL 3rd division, away to Port Glasgow. 1-0 up at half time, but ended up getting thumped 7-1 😭🤣🤣🤣
Fab video. I live in Saltcoats, but I’m ashamed to say I’ve never been to one of their games. I’m a season ticket holder at Rangers, but will keep an eye out for games that don’t clash and try get along to a few this years.
I see where this is going Sam - next video league 9, then 8.etc etc etc.. excellent! looking forward for your next video... thx! am in the states and it's hard to tell year to year what teams are still alive in the lower level leagues here in massachusetts.. keep up the good work! (btw, if i notice a team with a nice kit (no red, never red, am a Tot Spurs fan), will try to get one to support the teams you're showing)...
Even though im a Nottingham Forest fan of 49yrs i still love going to watch the lower league teams play its far more exciting and alot of the times the pies are better lol
I've seen Saltcoats Vics a few times in the late 1970s early 80s, usually at Irvine Vics but once at their place. I was thrilled that one of my heroes, Bobby Lennox, was on the touchline with the Saltcoats coach on that occasion. It was an honour to breathe the same air as the great man.
I really like non-league football. I have now got a season ticket for Broxburn athletic. Plus when I go down to England to see my father. I go with my uncle to see marine FC in Liverpool.😊
A was just turned 16 and played for yoker juniors against larkhall and cambuslang rangers so I know how the goalies feel, although I played at centre half 💪
don’t say his cheap local video was his best right after his tour of football in asia where every video probably cost 1500£ to make each when you factor all the travek
Football at it's basic, this was great to watch. Amateur football was mentioned so how does the amateur leagues compare to Tier 10? which could be an idea for a video
Hiya Sam, Carlisle United are at home on Saturday in a sort of derby against Fleetwood, I'll be there, If I was living in that area I would sign up for Saltcoats if I was 20 years younger, that scotch pie looked nice, keep up the interesting vlogs, this is Choppy in Whitehaven, Cumberland, England
So typical of the start of the season for a lot of clubs at the bottom of the pile. Was on the committee at Saltcoats for a wee while but all those guys don’t seem to be there now. Manager comes across really well, hope he can turn things around.
Although it's not Scotland I'd recommend going to see Wellington Amateurs in Telford, Shropshire. I think you'd like the ground and the story of how they have refurbished it. Also the connection of Thomas Telford to Scotland. He was known as the Colossus of Roads and was born in Westerkirk in Dumfries shire. I know it's a bit of a trek but they do nice pies too.
Irvine Meadow, be a good one to visit!! Go for the Irvine derby if you can when Meadow play the Vic's!! Love the lower leagues, this definitely makes me want to extend my next trip to Glasgow, from Norwich, so I can take in a lower league game!! Although it will always be known as the juniors League for me 😂
I haven’t had one of those scotch pies for a long time, hope it was nice. Im sitting on my terrace here in Almeria Spain Watching wonderful non league football. It’s something like 34c so it’s hot and watching your vids from Bonny Scotland with very changeable weather I’m glad I’m here in Spain.
Loving nonkeague football! I’m a bit puzzled with the lack og players in Saltcoats. Acording to Wikipedia there’s 12000 inhabitants in saltcoats and they can’t find 15 players?!? I know it’s holiday season but still! Can you elaborate on that?!? BR a danish viewer 😃
I think the problems is that there are a lot of teams within 7 miles or so, some of whom are doing better than the Vics - Ardrossan Winton Rovers for example, Kilwinning Rangers (the Buffs), Kilbirnie Ladeside and 2 teams in Irvine, Meadow and Victoria.
Can you tell us your best stadium from each tier of the football pyramid please and also I live in stevenston hoping you enjoyed your time in sunny saltcoats

Brilliant video.
I love the enthusiasm of the manager and the resigned cynicism of the young lad.

Blimey footie is hard at that level. I love the guy’s confidence in the long term plan.
Good luck to you all at Saltcoats👌
Would be interesting to go back to Saltcoats towards the end of the season to see how much they have progressed in a season. Good luck to them!
Just love the goalie interchange and the pitch side barrier that is crumbling away - so typical of lower league games. Another cracking video Sam.
Enjoyed that. Fair play to Saltcoats. Good luck to them.
Loving non league football being back, went to the medda Troon Derby yesterday and its great to have football back whatever the level
Nice Ayrshire derby to start off your season!

Loving the manager’s enthusiasm. Made me want dust off my boots 😂
Bryan Slavin you interviewed at the end played senior with Greenock Morton for a number of years. Solid defender.
Saw my old school and you even managed to get a train in. No ground next to a railway line is complete without a picture of a train. Brilliant! 😂

It’s good to get involved at this level. I took match photos at Ardeer Th ,a ten minute walk away from the Saltcoats ground. Never a dull moment.👍🏻
Love Sunny saltcoats 😁 unfortunately wasn't so sunny today with the rain and getting beat , but the goalie situation was a strange one
absolutely brilliant vlog Sam great vibes from saltcoats manager to everyone you spoke too, a crazy game but brilliant to watch.
Thanks mate. I went to another game in this division last night and Saltcoats were the away team! New video will be up shortly 👍🎥
