For those who do not understand what happened the punch on the chin can short circuit the communication between your brain and your legs. Judah was alert but for that moment his legs were gone and the ref had no choice but to stop the fight. Judah's only hope would have been to stay down until the count of 8 or 9 and he went right back up which was a mistake.
@senna That's why you must have a boxing iq. You stay down until you can control yourself and get up. You get up and fall down again; 100% of the time the fight will be called. Go watch Ruiz vs Joshua 1. Ruiz got knocked down but he stayed down and composed himself. Took the full count to 8 and got up. THAT is what Judah should have did.

You’re being nice. He didn’t just fall back down, he got up did a dance, ordered a 10 piece nugget from McDonald’s, fries from Arbys and a frosty from Wendy’s. Then went back down!
Judah’s stance after getting up from the knockdown is just hilarious, with all due respect to the efforts. hHis head in one direction talking fully consciously to the judge, his legs in two different places wide apart, his arms in 2 other directions and his body and torso in a sixth different place. Great moment in boxing. To unify all the belts and make an undisputed king at 140. Judah bad mouthed him too much and Tszyu held back his right hand until the time was right. Judah pranced around then let one graze his chin. Watch Tszyu roll into the straight right jut before the knockout punch. Rangefinder. That was an absolute brick. Awesome legend at 140. Many would have liked to have seen it keep going, but he would have been dropped again immediately and maybe hurt very bad. Very good call by ref.
For those who think Zab got cheated in that match, I suggest you rewatch it this time at .25x speed under video options. This shows Kostya being in total controll, stalking down his opponent, finding the right distance and then dropping the hammer once he had Zab doing what he wanted. Even if Nady didnt stop it Tszyu had him sorted and it would have been game over next round as Zub wasn't doing anything to trouble or worry Tszyu.
Boxers trade rounds all the time lol... you never know what could’ve happened. Look at Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz. AJ was dominating and he could’ve been stopped and everything would think he just got dominated and he would’ve never had a chance. But we all know that ain’t true as he was able to continue and knocked aj down countless times. Eventually knocking him out.
Jay Nady may well have saved Judah from getting very badly and permanently damaged there. Tszyu was a stone, cold killing machine and round 3 would likely have seen Judah get very badly hurt. Or worse.
Yeah, he was definitely having success with the uppercut and could not miss with the jab. However, Tszyu really nailed him good and I'm not sure Judah would have recovered either way. I think Tszyu would have jumped on him in the 3rd
I think he could've recovered somewhat cause he had the 10sec count plus the 60 sec rest. But yeah even with that it's a big MAYBE, tho he would've lasted longer and given himself a better chance.
***** Hey clueless, Judah was young, immature and from the ghetto after all ... duh. You don't sound so mature yourself. Judah's chicken dance knockout was enough punishment for his stupidity. He was knocked senseless and embarrassed. He apologized in the dressing room for his stupidity towards the ref. Little Judah was never a real threat to the big ref anyway. The ref made a good call considering what he saw at that moment ... the fighter did not appear to be in condition to continue fighting. Judah should have stayed down and slowly got up instead of bouncing up immediately like a fool.
For Kostya it was years of fighting tough southpaws in the amateurs. He knew exactly what to do and when..Accuracy and Timing..not so much his usual clubbing right hand...
This is what a champion looks like ,a real champion , up against it against a young fit slick fighter that had the better of him but tszyu just kept on coming forward ...tszyu what a dude ....
After watching the KO about 100 times I can't quite work out whether Zab is saying to the ref " Watch this dance move, which way to the hospital or did I just see bigfoot ! "
The minute Tszyu started landing his jab he set him up for a straight right to the chin. Anyone familiar with Tszyu knows he had devastating power. The ref made an excellent call too. Judah was completely out of it. If a fighter gets up and can't stay up? It's time to stop the fight. Tszyu was just getting warmed up and he landed a straight right on Judaha's chin. Tszyu was always good at disguising punches and Judah never saw the right hand coming.
Yup. Even I'm not a boxing fan but this rule I know. Its probably because I used to watch main events in HBO . But I'm a casual when it comes to boxing.
You are right, Getting up and falling down again is a sign of restricted blood flow to the brain, unfortunate for Judah but the rules are there to protect him, in those few seconds he could be seriously hurt so strict rules apply as no one knows how badly he is hurt, unfortunate but that is boxing. Best way to avoid this sort of thing in not to get knocked down in the first place!!!!!
Nothing Jay Nady can do that was automatic end of the fight. Maybe if Judah took the time to get up properly he probably would've survived the round. Bell rang shortly had he sat on the canvas. He was hurt but ok to continue had he taken his time. But he didn't so his feet wobbled and he fell again so automatic loss. Tszyu had realised Judah doesn't really have to power to hurt him by the end and was finding his range by middle the 2nd so I still think Tszyu would've won. Also if you count from when Judah hits the floor with a generous count he is very close to not making it anyway. By my count even counting through the fall he's at 8 or 9 and he's still unsteady,

I return to this video every couple of months, just to watch Kostyas brilliance and to listen to the hilariously ignorant commentary. I've watched every fight of his, and those few hits he took in the first round were his way of measuring the opponent, and to begin the process of faking him out. Kostya was clearly confident in the second round that his opponent didn't have the ability to trouble him and just cruised along waiting for the opening. Maybe those who criticise me, might spend a little time actually watching Tszyu in his other fights. If the commentators had done that, I don't think they would have been so surprised. Watch that 2nd round again, carefully, and listen to them completely missing that Tszyu had changed his approach.
@@chrlz904 100% The Tszyu name should never be underestimated. Kostya was way before my time but being alive to watch Tim and Nikita become future world champions is a privilege. Tim will have his zab Judah moment against Charlo when he fights for belts unless a corrupt judge flips the switch on him
Greatest meme creating fight ever, Underestimate Kostya at your peril. Legendary commentary as well, they spend the whole fight telling the world how much better Judah is and then WHAM, should have stayed down and taken the count before trying to be a gangstar.
Yeah, I remember Zab talking a lot of smack before this fight. Dude was a pathetic man back then. Watched parts of his Vlad interview. Unfortunately, seems like he still hasn't matured.
Zab to the referee: "Look this is how you dance after getting punched by Tszyu, you like?" Referee: "Nah, go to hell .. that's a filthy dance move, I no likey"
The reporters covering the fight have nothing but praises for Zab, but someone just watching the fight could see Kostya was not rattled and just stalking him. If Zabs good first round punch worried him, he sure didn't show it, he just kept stocking him, knowing he was going to catch him.
The first round is what cost Zab the fight because he did nothing in the second round he was just moving trying to get that one power shot on tyszu again instead of just working to get that shot in and he got caught
Boy he commentary team had to eat their words with this one. Still gives me a giggle to watch this one. Don't thing it will ever get old if you are an Aussie boxing fan.
Tszyu had a way of getting south paws squared up and short so they were unwittingly in range of his right hand. Watch all his fights with left handers and he manages them all very easily. He also had an underated body punch that I think he may have hit Judah with at the end of round 1 and turned Judah in to a more cautious approach in round 2. Tszyu was probably the best amateur in history and one of the top four Junior Welterweights ever !
Yeah I agree. Tszyu has always been comfortable against lefties. Zab got hit with a left to the head and body punch late in round 1.and then didn't know what to do in the second round. Tszyu dominated the second. Its a shame the fight didn't last longer. I wanted Judah to really feel Tszyu's power for a few more rounds.
Amateur my ass after this fight. Pro with a capitol P.Judah still on his l's.L for learner. On a serious note their both professional boxers even if he lost.It would have been a good fight had Judah not tried to stand up so early after his knockdown. But it was what it was
@@fang.clarkec7584 "Amateur my ass". I think you misunderstood Micky Poole. Mic wasn't implying that Tszyu was an "amateur". (record was 259 wins/11 losses) The vast majority of professional boxers start out as amateurs. (how else would they learn how to box & gain experience??)

Kostya had Zab measured by the end of the first round and had him on the back foot the entire fight, he came out hunting in the 2 round confident that he could deal with Zabs speed by simply pressuring him whilst showing no respect for Zab's power, he basically took the best of what Zab had to offer in the first-round and knew that if he stayed on him it would only be a matter of time before he caught him.
Exactly - I've commented so many times online and in person that after round 1, it was over - Zab was cooked. He barely threw a punch in the entire round 2 - these announcers missed the excellent work by Kostya in round 2 - the Showtime crew picked up that Kosta had won the round big. He totally neutralized Zab with full smart pressure - there is a good vid "Southpaw Slayer Kostya" or something online which breaks down a few of the many things that Kostya was doing to neutralize Zab in this fight. If this fight continued, Zab would have been hurt bad.
Juda didn't do shit! Tszyu was comfortable from the start just warming up and seeing what his opponent had to bring... kostya had a concrete jaw not a glass jaw like zab! Lol it was only a matter of time

But why not just keep counting anyway? Count to 10 first instead of waving your arms to stop the fight. He would not have risen again before 10. 'Look at me'.
@@Jimmy911ism Judah didn't even know he wasn't capable of standing up, he was clearly in no condition to make any decisions whatsoever. He couldn't consent to continue fighting, he probably didn't even know what city he was in or what day it was.
@@davesmith3289 Ah yeah, true, but in the event he beat the count then the referee could rule him out, but it's a moot point: falling twice in the same count is a KO. But I did say "he wouldn't have risen again." I was wrong with the 'look at me' comment. Ref just following protocol. I'm surprised Judah didn't know that rule.
@@Jimmy911ism You haven't watched many fights then. It is not uncommon to wave indicating the fight is over without even counting at all let alone to the full count based on the reaction of the opponent who was violently struck. Being knocked unconscious means that the brain is disconnected from sensory input and stops processing. You can see it in the way Zab jumped up via reflexes and muscle memory, but was not in control of his arms and legs that were not getting signals from the brain. You can see how he falls without breaking his fall with his arms because he has no control over them. And the EYES. All referees are trained to look into the eyes of a boxer to see if he appears conscious. When they are not, the eyes take on the look of a blank disconnected stare. You can see that look on Zab's eyes. Jay Nady was standing a few feet from him and could see he was disconnected. At the point, you have no choice buy to stop the fight.
Mentally he was there but that equilibrium was gone... you right shoulda took the 8count and somebody with his amateur background should've known better

I cannot believe some of these comments. Three things happened in this fight that really pissed me off. Zab got caught and was knocked senseless. The referee made the correct call and there can be no disputing that Zab would have collapsed a third time if Nady had not helped him after he fell down the second time. Then of course we have the totally unacceptable behavior afterwards with Zab attacking the referee! Sure to get him a suspension and fine. His father tries to calm him without success. Zab is like a spoiled brat. Then there is Jim Watts. What a sorry excuse for a commentator. Carried away with Zab. Doesn't pay attention to what is really happening in the ring. Worst of the worst. Part of that is the post fight interviewer trying his best to bully Kostya and Nady into admitting some wrong doing with call. Hope to never see him again either. The entire broadcasting crew should never be allowed to enter another contest. Very poorly done from top to bottom.
Stewart Haile - You're absolutely right, of course! Amazing that the deniers, still after all these years, reject the obvious facts. (1) Zab was in lulu-land. (2) The referee made the only correct call (3) Tszyu (whom had Zab totally figured out by the knock) would have put Zab in a vegetable state if the fight would have been allowed to continue.
Zab judah met kostya in moscow 11 years after this fight and apologised for how he behaved and had nothing but nice things to say seemed pretty down the earth.

What the doltish announcers don't realize is that by the end of the first round, both fighters already knew that Judah didn't have enough power to hurt Tszyu. That's why Tszyu never stopped stalking, even after he was hit earlier in the round. Tszyu's "look of bemusement" is one of anticipation. He knew it was only a matter of time before his bombs landed.

AJ was dominating and he could’ve been stopped and everything would think he just got dominated and he would’ve never had a chance. But we all know that ain’t true as he was able to continue and knocked aj down countless times. Eventually knocking him out.
Correct. He got hit in round 1 thats why he was running around in the 2nd round. He was being stalked and he was stupid to have his hands down.
@@92397 Banking on the fact that you never know what happens-although understable-is not the strongest point though.
Zab certainly did not get cheated, he got KO'ed
Jay Nady may well have saved Judah from getting very badly and permanently damaged there. Tszyu was a stone, cold killing machine and round 3 would likely have seen Judah get very badly hurt. Or worse.
meanwhile the whole time the commentators HATE tszyu talking about how slow he is.. this is why its my favourite fight ever
If Judah had taken a knee instead of jumping right up like a goddamn amateur things might have ended differently for him.
Kyle Bane No, they wouldn't
Kyle Bane Yeah, Tszyu would have hospitalised him in the 3rd.

I’m still wondering what he said.
He said "you know what I'm sayin?, you know what I'm saying?, you know what I'm sayin?".
When that Hennessy creeps up on you....all of a sudden
The minute Tszyu started landing his jab he set him up for a straight right to the chin. Anyone familiar with Tszyu knows he had devastating power. The ref made an excellent call too. Judah was completely out of it. If a fighter gets up and can't stay up? It's time to stop the fight. Tszyu was just getting warmed up and he landed a straight right on Judaha's chin. Tszyu was always good at disguising punches and Judah never saw the right hand coming.

Pretty sure the rule in this state/boxing federation was if a fighter falls to the ground after trying to get back up, it's a KO
I am not sure about that rule but he was not in control or recovered enough to fight at the count. Staggering around like a drunk is not good enough.
By my count even counting through the fall he's at 8 or 9 and he's still unsteady,
Why not simply continue counting to 10? Would not have got back up in time.
His ego made him want to bounce back up and pretend he wasn't hurt instead of taking his time.

Micky Poole
Yeah I agree. Tszyu has always been comfortable against lefties. Zab got hit with a left to the head and body punch late in round 1.and then didn't know what to do in the second round. Tszyu dominated the second. Its a shame the fight didn't last longer. I wanted Judah to really feel Tszyu's power for a few more rounds.
Zab didn’t like getting hit. He was always strong early then faded as his opponents slowed him down. He never won against a big opponent.

@The Negro is something that shall be overcome Bro you’re on the same planet Zab was after that knockdown 😂
If this fight continued, Zab would have been hurt bad.

rules of this fight clearly state that the fighter cannot get up and fall back down. if they do its an immediate stoppage.
Even if it wasn't written. No ref ever would let it continue. How can someone intelligently defend themselves if they can't intelligently stand up.
But I did say "he wouldn't have risen again."
I was wrong with the 'look at me' comment.

I cannot believe some of these comments. Three things happened in this fight that really pissed me off. Zab got caught and was knocked senseless.
