And "Kids". A bit newer New York, but if we are talking about the tone and atmosphere it's worth a shout out. Especially the street scenes and the subway etc.
@@benjammin8184 Kids would be an interesting choice, particularly as I think Harmony Korine said the film was almost autobiographical in parts which is pretty disturbing.
Such a fun movie! I love the part where Arnie is on a date with the girl & he clumsily nearly trips over , & the fact they left it in! Thanks Val Verde crew
What do you think about Stay Hungry (1976)? That also seems to be a overlooked Arnold film despite costarring Jeff Bridges and Sally Field... and Robert Englund!
Arnie won The Golden Globe for Best Newcomer for that. Clearly they were conveniently forgetting Hercules (and Arnie's bit part in Robert Altman's The Long Goodbye).
I first saw this on ITV TELETHON 92, ITVs answer to Children in Need. Viewers were given a choice of 2 films to vote for, not by title but by who stared in them. Hoping for Terminator or Predator I made my donation. I was the Child in Need that night.
YES, YES, YES!!!!!!!!!! That's how I first saw this film, but I can't remember what the other voting choice was, I know it was a much better option than Hercules in New York though!
@@RighteousBrother I can't remember either. I think the choice was a Schwarzenegger film or a Tom Hanks film. But it could have been Willis or Stallone as the second option.
I feel I'm missing out by not having seen this; it sounds hilarious!! Seeing you two cracking up is so infectious :-) And Duncan's voices kill me... brilliant.
Well I was going to have mash potatoes, but as soon as you mentioned Bodger and Badger I of course had to jump up, raise a fist, shout "Viva Val Verde" and launch handfulls of it at everyone in the room. As is the law.
lol I love early Arnold, he always had that look of complete exhaustion on his face. His acting, his delivery - all exhausted bare minimum of emotion. After this movie he got himself together and realized he actually had to commit to acting classes because audiences don't like dead eyed meatheads who are unintelligible.
I saw this on itv on a Saturday afternoon sometime in the 90s, Arnold's voice was dubbed in that version. You're right as a film it impossible to dislike.
Great video guys! A warm soothing reprise of the silly humour and random tangents, a why-not-into-Bodger-And-Badger was esp welcome. Twins feels quite a bit like a semi-remake, what with Arnie playing a God Like Man, who arrives in America for the first time, and keeps running into schlubby American characters. He's also something of an innocent, and who often talks in literal sentences, or strange sounding uses of English. Thor (2011) plot-wise seems like a more serious remake of Hercules In New York!
I was thinking exactly the same thing about the Thor movie, although Hercules seems like even more of a dick in his film. The version with Schwarzenegger's voice is a work of art, though possibly more of a Jackson Pollack than a Leonardo Da Vinci?
In a timeline where Arnie never became a star, RedLetterMedia and you guys would have discovered Hercules in New York as a lost gem of fantastically terrible film making, similar to The Room or Samurai Cop. Then Arnie would have spent the 2010s doing the convention circuit, promoting his five minutes of fame as a retired real estate and bodybuilding millionaire :)
You guys truly are great, this might be your funniest review so far. I'd go further than the double bill of Hercules and Taxi Driver and add Midnight Cowboy as well in the hopes of a crossover of Hercules v Bickle v Jon Voight & Dustin Hoffman.
Aww, RIP James Karen. How weird is the timing of this with you talking about him still kicking and releasing it just after he passes away? Shame, a really classy and nice man when you saw him in interviews, and a really great actor too. Great episode fellas, #Badgerverse
Also, Arnold Stang (who played Pretzie) died in 2009 when he was 91! Might have looked unhealthy but had a good run. (Also, how weird is it that the movie starred two people, one called Arnold Stang and one called Arnold Strong? Did they intentionally give Arnie that last name for that reason? lol)
F*ck The Terminator, Predator, Commando, and Last Action Hero, this is Schwarzenegger's best film ever! And it has the late, great James Karen as well, solidifying its status as a classic!
Being a filthy south-american, I wasn't exposed to the original Arnold's voice when I watched this for the first time, we had our dub instead. But when I re-watched this movie in its original version... my God, how did I missed this?
This movie is poorly written, acted, directed, and produced. And yet it's still eminently more enjoyable than any of Bruce Willis' modern fare. 🎵Everybody knows, Badger loves mash potatoes, He makes them into shapes and eats them everyday, Bodger and Badger, Bodger and Badger, La, la, la, la, la La, la, la, la, la. Next week, Duncan and Richard will discuss the puppet masterpiece Rosie and Jim.
First time I attempted to watch this it was on Telefon, a charity TV show where people bought blue ears to support the cause. People had to vote from 3 films I was a kid and loved Arnie. By the time they collected the votes and showed the film I was asleep
@@trettfilms Sorry. I'd rather make them 'fresh' myself, it's just not practical with our day jobs and whatnot. Just to confirm; I would not wear shorts on a day like today. That would be fucking mental. -R
Eliot McCann OK McCann I’ll be sure to not doing anything but speak in a monotone fashion from here on out, just for you. No more standing out of the crowd for me. No more trying. Rather astute of you to ignore the entirety of the rest of the video too. Bravo sir, bravo 🤨
Eliot McCann Since it's a skill he has, and is funny and inventive (it's not like: "and now for my Arnold Schwartzenegger impression: Hello, I'm Arnold Schwartzenegger. Now my Michael Caine") then why shouldn't he? Along with Richard and Duncan's style of humour, it's an essential and unique part of the channel. You may not like it, but I think most people do. It'd be a great loss if he stopped doing it. If you don't like it, just turn the volume down when he does one, and turn it back up when he's finished. It'll make the video more interactive.
In the magnificent country of Val Verde it is compulsory to do Schwarzenegger impressions every day. Failure to do so will result in severe re-education.
@@chumpey I personally enjoy the impressions by both you and Richard. If we're not going to have a laugh, I may as well be watching a documentary on the Titanic disaster.
Monday. Get in from work. Pour a drink. Watch val verde. Life is good.
You two just create sheer comedy gold every time without fail.
I'd like to think Nicolas Cage was in the bear suit. "NO! NOT THE ARNOLD!"
Talking about movies depicting old New York, one I'd really love It Ain't Broke to do is The Warriors.
That's a great shout; the Warriors is probably one of the best depictions of New York from that era.
It also has one of the best pieces of film music (In the City) by Joe Walsh.
That Badger impression made my day.
This is one of the most hilarious reviews for a movie I have ever watched. Great show guys!

Really fun review guys! Great job.
This film is full of Dirty Shitters!! Loved this video guys.
Duncan love the Arnie and pacino!
Guys if this channel doesn't pan out I'd happily pay for you to remake a series of Bodger and Badger working as DVD editors XD
Great video. RIP James Karen. Duncan is great with the voices. I've seen the Sylvester Stallone porn but have yet to see Hercules in New York.
He was really good & funny (intentionally) in Cactus Jack with Kirk Douglas.
Good fun lads, keep it up!

Hercules really hates bears, that's why Lou Ferrigno threw one into space.
I thought the same thing when I saw Arnie fight the bear. This seems strangely familiar.

Hercules (1983) was even stranger.
The debut of Arnold Strong!
I wonder if Arnold Strong went on to do anything else, maybe Schwarzenegger knows.
Ah man! Is this even worthy of your time!? Ah well its free and you're always entertaining so what the heck!! Howabout Cactus Jack next?

The bear wrestling scene in Hercules in New York reminds me of the The Revenant.
Both scenes still looks fake. :)

It would be fun if you did a review of The Italian Stallion (the Stallone porno).

That was ITV Telecom, hosted by Michael Aspel. I actually voted for this film, but they didn't show it until 1am or something!
I remember this, but I thought it was Comic Relief. I believe it was 3 Arnie films, and everyone voted for Hercules because no one had seen it before.
