If you have 1 prof. covering classes across 4 universities so they can scrape the $40 to 50k a year they need to live, then that Prof. never has any time to learn new material, nor mentor their students. These are vital aspects of being able to teach at an advanced level with good outcomes.
What happens to the steep costs students pay in tuition? You would think professors are well paid.
@@mssage974 That goes to the board of directors, the chancellors of whom it is hard to find one paid less than a million dollars a year, and upper management, not to the educators. Also universities pay no taxes on their income which for many is considerable given they have become financial, owning assets and stocks.
Such is what happens under capitalism. It infects and corrupts everything, from democracy to education to society in general, so as to maintain things as they are.
Having no freedom of speech.
I like these short and focused Q/A videos.
Freedom ? where ? Freedoms still playing hide and seek !!!
Very soon we will have master degrees in facebook, twitter, instagram, youtube, patreon and all such needless social mud management .. it will be called "To Be Hired Education"
april 11ths headlines video was deleted somehow
If acadameia had true freedom to share all of their research and related work with the general public, we would be living in a much better world today. One without elitist tyriny and corruption or at least the impacts of these conditions would be minimized.
Academic Freedom to whom? As a student, we are fined for taking classes that interest us on top of required classes on our degree list. Who does that serve? Certainly NOT students with the desire to learn.
when the sugar industry bought the medical profession 100 years ago, blaming animal fats for clogged arteries and heart disease when excess sugar in the blood stream is what the liver produces cholesterol from. animal fats are not a problem, and sugar has caused diabetes, heart disease, and is likely a large contributing cause of alzheimer's and dementia. Academics supported this massive, erroneous, cancerous set of ideas, as did medical colleges and the entire profession of medicine joined in to fight heart disease by lowering animal cholesterols in our diet. when there was zero evidence. this is the same ground that academics stands on. mountains of erroneous assumptions made for the cause of money, and causing millions of deaths. when we get academic freedom, will we do any better?
Yep and after the public finally realized the the low fat diet was bad and higher fat of unprocessed foods including cholesterol are better (hence the popular low carb diets in fashion that are still not supported by establishment) the health monopolies continue to be trusted even though the majority of the public has enough common sense to dismiss their dietary guidelines. Why doesn’t the public therefore fail to realize the medical industry committed fraud?
Why pay a full time tenured professor when I can pay an adjunct less?
Why pay a union electrician, plumber, etc. when I can pay a non union worker less?
Why pay an American worker when I can pay a desperate Chinese worker less?
A disturbing trend. Cheap labor isn't skilled and skilled labor isn't cheap.
I guess Crenshaw's getting promoted to full Gauleiter status now in the GOP after his victory over humor on SNL!

*The short answer:* The widespread adoption of leftist theory and the promotion of victimhood as a virtue.
@Paul B You must have a masters degree in gender studies. No wonder you're so angry...
@Paul B LMAO! Oh, I'm sorry. You must be a tradesman then. Apprenticeship with the _'Symbionese Liberation Army'?_
@Paul B Alright... So a political lobbyist, or non-profit organizer then? Are you a recruiter for something like _'The National Socialist German Workers Party'?_ Your angry, *ALL CAPS* tirade would indicate something along those lines. You have similar talking points...
@Paul B Well, at least you admit that you're a Nazi. Most leftists usually ignore that fact.
Joe Boyko: This has nothing to do with 'leftist theory' or 'victimhood'. This has to do with the quality of academe.
