I own a 2008 Discovery 3 SE V8 with 99k miles. With that said maybe I can help: The water inside could be clogged sunroof or you may need a cowl (plastic trim by the the windshield wipers)they seem to warp and water gets in. Your taillights you should do the led swap taillights from a Disco 4. Front suspension knocking is your lower control arms, the D3 is a heavy truck and the lower and upper control arms take a beating. Where the plastic tow cover is swap it out for a metal one, your oil cooler will love you. When you do the transmission flush opt out for the aftermarket metal cover that comes with a separate filter instead of the OEM one that it's plastic and filter is built in it and they have to lift the engine. As far as the rear gate try, with the help from a friend or family member, press the open and close buttons at the same time and it should open and if you manage to open change the switch in the handle. As far as the body work that's on you but if you fix it right and keep up with the oil changes it's a awesome truck! Good luck cheers 🍻 🇺🇸
Thanks for all this advice, very helpful. I’ve meanwhile discovered (no pun intended) some of these exact things myself, as shown in some of my other videos. I think a V8 like yours is probably a better car than the diesel though quite rare in the UK. Thanks for watching
Brilliant vehicles. Ive got 2 now and love them. Both bought with issues and had been written off by their issues but have done 20k with my blue one and have driven to belgium and also the full length of the uk. Wouldnt hesistate to go on a drive to poland. Just make sure you have had the stronger factory oil pump fitted. Also when servicing the gearbox take out the control unit and replace the seals. They get hard and cause shifting issues. Run it on 5w-40 not the factory recommended oil.
Good news. It's had loads done. Great purchse. I'll just say my silver one was supposed to have a genuine fomoco pump but the owner had been told a lie by the garage they used and the pump fitted wasn't genuine. You only know by visually inspecting which isn't actually a big job but totally worth doing. . I'm in the process of replacing at the moment as it just doesn't give enough pressure and also the seal fit on the crank is shoddy and leaking. Any parts I replace are either genuine or lemförder for the suspension bits. I've had the body off my blue one and was surprised as it wasn't difficult but just need time and patience. Keep going with it. Looked after they are lovely vehicles.
@@InFluxGroupSolutions I did get pretty lucky, all considered. I’m glad it’s had all that done, because I’m not sure I’d be tackling that kind of work myself 😂 It sounds like you’ll have a happy past time for some time to come!
Ive owned my Discovery 3 for 14 years. Its an 08 XS model. When I bought it there was 30+k on the clock. Now it's on just over 300k. Yes as an older vehicle it will come with typical LR issues. I would never get rid of mine. It is the perfect do anything go anywhere vehicle in total comfort. When asked I always say it's like driving around in your front room 😂.
A senior development engineer at JLR once told me they were the best thing to come out of Landrover. The D4 is a whole load more complicated. If you own a good tool box, you're laughing as they're relatively easy to replace the entire suspension on your drive. Which I've just done on a basic 05'. Your knock will probably be the front anti roll bar bushes, I went with SuperPro as they're longer lived items. Great cars.....IF you're a mech.
Thanks for the insight! I am no mech, but have fixed most of my cars myself over the years. These are quite easy to work on. Which is handy, given they need a lot of working on, usually 😂 All will be revealed in regards to the knock in a coming video!
Fantastic video. Thanks for showing us your new lovely Disco. Guess the issues that will come up are absolutely expected considering the age of the car. The body work is good apart of the rust (hope you can sort that out). Have you got a history on what’s been changed and so? I would find a trusty mechanic who is not afraid working on them. I think when it comes cost for repairs, I wouldn’t say it’s that tragic as any other car these days. There are many that are being sold for spare parts really cheap so that helps a lot.
Thank you so much! Yes its very much a case of finding someone who knows their way round these things. There will be more updates coming, so watch this space! Thanks for watching
I’m buying anLR3. 2006. Looks in good shape but the recent owner doesn’t know the history. Who knows what might break. Has road tires and may never have been wheeled so I might be lucky🤞
To unlock the boot, press the lock and unlock bottons on the dash at the same time. Then replace the swicth on the upper rear door. It is probably water ingress that has buggered the switch.
I can definitely help you with some of the repairs. But let's start one at a time. The leaking should definitely be sealed you don't need water in that car
I can’t answer the question about the rust. I would assume it’s because it’s built in Britain 😂 I’ve fixed quite a lot of these issues since. The leak I am fairly sure is coming from the a pillar trims

I agree, fantastic vehicles. I’ve recently put out a video where I go over some recent work, which did include the oil pump

I have just learn more about D3s than I ever hoped too 😂
I didn’t choose the Landy life, it simply touched me inappropriately and now we appear to be married

A good dianostic tool and some automotive skills is what you need
Very funny. From what I’ve heard, only take LR advice from owners. People love to hate on them
Thank you! That’s what I’m learning too. Only listen to people who are at least as insane as you, but with more experience at being insane.
That’s excellent insight, now I feel like I’ve learned something. You sound very qualified!😂
@@Andrew-dg7qm I’m getting there, give me a few more months of LR ownership and I’ll be an expert. If I’m not sectioned meanwhile 🤪

Thanks for this! Unfortunately that doesn’t open the boot either. I need to get in there and replace some stuff I think!
The release cable will have snapped. You have to get the backing plate off from the inside. LR time channel is fantastic to watch for tips.
@@grahammeasures3299 it wasn’t that either unfortunately. I’ve since made a video where I fix it
Mine is a 2009, I could meet you up there and we could cry together 👊😁🇮🇲
Sounds like a plan! One condition: no crying in my car please - it’s already got a damp problem 🤣
hand breaks normaly a broken wire behind the rear n/s wheel arch if its intermittent
Why does it have rust on it? My body is completely aluminum and it's two thousand and sit doesn't sex

Is the air conditioner leaking out the bottom of the car when it's on
I had multiple leaks they are conditioner and the sun roof
So tell me what the latest problem is
Get shot of it quick! Every repair is uber expensive and it will still be worth bugger all. They were ghastly new and wont improve with age.
Thanks - this hasn’t passed me by, hence a life spent driving Hondas & Toyotas 😂
I have been fixing mine myself....cheap as chips
