I got a pack of the Infinex Jazz XL 1.2mm (the one you were playing) after you mentioned them on a Patreon stream and I love them! They’ve got a weight to them that just feels high end, plus they slice through the string so smoothly during fast alternate picking passages. Not to mention the grip is fantastic! I’ve already come with a rock jingle for the commercial: “I wanna Master8 all night, Master8 every day ...”
Self quarantine, a lot more people are going to Master8 every day.
I’m stranded in Japan currently, and I’ve seen those at the store, but haven’t tried them out. I’ll definitely buy a few.
One other awesome Japanese pick is the Silent Pick made by a company in Chiba-city. It’s great for people like me who have grumpy wives, who complain loudly about hearing guitar practice even with the headphones on. They’re made of very thin, flexible plastic, like vinyl sheeting. No good for picking individual strings, but for strumming with the headphones on, I can hear my guitar, but my grumpy wife can’t.

  • @scottym3

Phillip, I need to ask you this as long as you're on picks. Have you ever used a Mosrite/Ventures pick? I bougtht 3 of them way back in the late 60's or early 70's. I have two original ones left. I bought 3 or 5 more a few years ago, they're not cheap now. But... When I was in a band from 72 thru 77 that's all I used. somehow I lost one. But the great thing about these pics is...THEY DON'T BREAK!!! I so love using these. the one I used most is all chewed up. putting it in my mouth and chewing it during our practice sessions just for kicks, instead of having a cig. it's beat to hell but it still works great, no nicks, cracks or separations anywhere. Yeah, I do drop them occasionally but they will never break.

For whatever reason I am constantly dripping picks and because of that I end up gripping them to tight so I switched to Dava pick. I'm the same way I love the Dava grip tip picks with the rubber coating but don't care for the shape of the picks. What I've started doing was taking a pick I'm into (right now it's Dunlop Tortex and Jazz) and dipping the grip end into some Plasti-Dip or Rubber Dip, works great. If you like a little thicker gripping area just dip it after the first coat dries no more dropped picks, well a lot fewer drops.

I like picks that are quiet. By that I mean, I don’t like to hear what I call the chirp that you hear along with the note that’s caused by the friction of the pick on the string. How are these? If you know what I’m referring to.
