    I served my time with a 74 year old bricky taught me loads I'm 53 now and still remember my precious time with the legend Mr Holmes from newport south wales

      I had 2 old gits teach me! 52 now!
      My father and his cousin were a 2 n 1, with Wally the hoddy! They both started age 15, cycled to Duxford every day, 6 or miles each way, but uphill back home! Loads of great stories of them learning a trade in the late 1950's near Cambridge.
      No young gang could keep up with them in their prime or do a nice clean tidy job.
      I feel very lucky to have been able to learn from them and their mates 👌🏻👍🏻🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

      @Theoldbricklayer just imagine if they had hall been laid in place/on one "building" - it'd be huge! I'm just about st0n3d enough to work out what size of property just 1 million bricks builds! And you're only paying him £350/day, scandalous mate, easy worth double bubble on that!

      Usually I would grind them 3 sides in 3 days but sometimes they take longer when the mortar is cement based

    I’m a site manager and I would pay any rates to get the old Brickie as a black hat on my job 🤣 the fact he can multi trade and don’t mind cleaning up. He will get extra

    According to the macmaster the videos have to be 8 minutes or longer to trigger the algo thingy to spread it more

      They will get longer in time I’m happy with the progress I’ve made (this channel is all about having a laugh with my dad and making long lasting memories, the amount of subscribers and views don’t matter to us . What matters is the viewers that watch like the content . Have a great weekend

    Do you always use lime mortar for repointing and do you always put the mortar in by hand ( finger trowels ) or use a machine? Stuart.

      Some jobs we do are sand and cement. All jobs done by hand the machines they make are not for us.
      They make a mess and you have to put the mortar in like soup which can cause shrinkage and looks a mess in my opinion.

    Best way to get off cement builders has left on brick? There really rough textured dark brown bricks and the cement has gone into all the texture been there 20 years so solid now

    What brand blade's are those Ben?
    I been using the erbuaer screwfix ones 4.6mm or 6.4mm, and they've been pretty good compared to most I've had. Hilti are a class of their own, but so expensive to let idiots use and mistreat 😂

    Do you use muratic acid and water solution to clean motar off face of bricks, as some can't keep bricks clean with out smudging them,

      We don’t clean after we repoint I think it’s very bad practise to acid wash a repoint
      If the bricks are dirty we offer a clean before we do the repointing at an extra charge 90% don’t want to pay

    Hi Ben is the bh dinger jointer worth getting I've got Marshall town at mo like to try different things is the 19mm tge best to get for standard joints ?, keep the old bricklayer working hard 😀 👍

      Yes 19mm is the best size . I like them but they do wear out fairly quick . I like the fact they’re quite heavy compared to a Marshall town and they make a shallower finish . They can be reshaped with a belt sander tho …

      It was sand and cement over lime. So we are going back to original lime
