I agree, but for some reason, I find it very funny also. Another thing about the movie is that it is very accurate in its zombie portrayal. It’s as if they went straight to the source in Haiti or Benin.

The cave scene in The Wailing will always be one of the scariest things I've ever seen. It's just pure slow-growing fear and a sense of doom and no escape, leading up to the revelation of the terrifying final form of the devil.

I recently watched Alien with my fifteen year old son; the stream of questions from him was perhaps the best illustration of how the movie creates mood and narrative without spoon feeding it's viewer(s). It's something that is far too often missing in media, let alone cinema.

I really wanted this channel to talk about gothic horror. Without Edgar Allan Poe, the gothic horror writer, there's no way we will get cosmic horror that created by H.P. Lovecraft. Lovecraft stories inspiration mainly came from Poe writing. Also, without gothic horror, there's no way we will get thrillers, mystery stories, and even suspense novels. I would like to see the gothic horror recommendations from this channel. Thanks!

Great picks. I'd add 28 Days Later, The Lighthouse, and Threads (which may not have been intended to be a 'horror' movie, but ended up being one of the most horrifying and disturbing films ever.)

I'd also highly recommend The Lighthouse. It's from the same director as The Witch, has magnificent performances by Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson, and is reminiscent of films like The Shining or The Thing with its slow-burn and chillingly bizarre atmosphere where isolated characters descend into paranoid, violent madness.

    Annihilation (the freaking screaming bear...)

Honestly, I'm not sure if Cabin in the Woods can be considered a horror. It's a satire on the entire genre, one that has fun making jabs at the premises of the horrors and makes you be aware of that as well.

The first three films in the list are great. The fourth film is, from my perspective, less a horror film and more an existential exploration of sorts. The final film is entertaining, but seems to be an odd duck when coupled with the first three projects. All the movies listed are worth watching.

Yeah under the skin was a movie i really didn't enjoy. I ended it early which i never really do. The only good part about it was watching Scarlett Johansson but that's it. Maybe i ended it just before it got good but i was over an hour in and felt like nothing had happened and was bored. It reminded me a bit of the lynch scenes that get too artsy to enjoy.

I can understand why you were bored. However, if you have knowledge of how real zombies are created in Haiti and West Africa, the movie will suddenly feel more interesting. The film is very cinematic and sometimes feels like a nature movie too, but I like that.

Maybe cliche but I really like It and It Chapter 2. The second movie just had to be better than the TV special from the 90s and achieved that.
Not a movie but The Haunting of Hillhouse mini series is exactly my type of horror. Not over gorey, lots of hidden details, and literally haunting meaning that you'll think of it afterwards. Also the best use of a jump scare in Cinematic history in my opinion.

What most people miss about Let the Right One In is that Ellie is actually a boy. From the insistence more than once that he is not a girl, to the revealing of his castration scar in the brief nude scene, the director and author of the original book--where Elias' (as is his original male name) gender is evident from early on--have both stated that the clues are there for fans of the book to notice.
