What Body Horror movie would you recommend?
Titane - from the director of Raw
For laughs: - Re-animator, Basketcase
Contracted (2013) it’s disgusting, and Starry Eyes (2014)
What’s the one with the big worm thing that comes out of the woman’s vagina while she’s in the bath?
I know it's a short film, but "The Big Shave" is a good one that comes to mind! It's on HBO Max right now, and I thought it was pretty good!
Watching the fly as a kid = horrors beyond my comprehension
Watching the fly as an adult = watching someone you love deteriorate rapidly before your eyes when everything was perfect and they were so full of life for so long before.
The fly will always be my favourite thing because of the emotions behind it
1) The Void - A cop helps a man to the hospital, but the building is suddenly surrounded bu weird cultists and horrific monsters starts to show up. If you want something that can kind of scratch the itch of The Thing, then i recomend it. It also looks very good considering the tiny budget it had.
2) Violence Voyager - 2 young boys visits a strange amusement park but gets hunted by weird deformed creatures. Its a japanese movie with a very unique style. Its all filmed using paperdolls. It also has a very unique monster design.
I saw this topic come up, and immediately thought of Tetsuo. I remember watching that film in my undergrad, an extension of a bunch of surrealist films as part of an art and culture class. I will never forget it (especially the drill penis) even if I still don't entirely understand it.
I think The Fly is objectively the best body horror film. The body horror element of the film IS the film yet, the relationship between the two protagonists is still the nucleus of the film.
Other Cronenberg is Naked Launch, that talking cockroach-typewriter is so memorable, an underrated movie to me
His 'Existenz' also has some body horror elements.
Naked Lunch. Very memorable, i rented it on vhs to watch with my girlfriend. I think I enjoyed it more than her.
Another Cronenberg movie that I always watch after watching Videodrome is Existenz. A little bit of body horror but not as much as Videodrome. Also LONG LIVE THE NEW FLESH!
Long live the new flesh ✊️
Body Horror Recommendations: Bobby Yeah, Titane, The Skin I Live In, Martyrs (2008), Cyclops (1987), Tetsuo II: Body Hammer, Relic (2020), Rakka (2017), and I’ll stop there.
LOVE relic
Love your content! More horror, please!
I’ve seen every film you cover in the video-bet you can guess my favorite sub-genre of horror, huh?
No body horror list would be complete without 'Brain Dead'. Also shout out goes to my wild card, 'Thinner'.
Thinner, I forgot about that one
The movie Contracted, was difficult to watch because of the body horror. My favorite zombie movie it reminds me a bit of the fly, because you watch the main characters body change and decay 🤢
Yeah watched with my Mom not a great choice for that
I loved watching Raw in theaters years ago!
I had forgotten what RAW was about, what a weird movie
great selection. love it 🙏❤
Thanks!
The thumbnail reminds me of something very specific: The ending of "The Soviet Die Hards" faction from the PS1 game Critical Depth. Do some research and you will understand what I say.
Nothing is beyond The Thing.
Never heard about that Tetsuo movie, but for those themes and even the name of the guy, that was an influence for Akira right?
Cool analysis. Keep up the good work.
I love Raw and could talk about it forever, but Ginger Snaps is my OG coming-of-body-horror go to
Great vid! One scene that always comes to mind (even though it's not a body horror movie per se) is Tetsuo's transformation at the end of Akira. A terrifying lost of control and explosion of flesh, never seen anything that matches it in animation or live action.
Out of everything possible in horror films. I find body horror and losing grip on reality to be the scariest. And they are both 100 percent possible and could happen to any of us at anytime.
Definitely missing Slither from this list
These are all of course pitch perfect. I love BLACK SWAN as body horror! However my wild card pick is the grossly underrated and brilliant JENNIFER'S BODY.
Naked Lunch should definitely be on this list.
I would recommend Upgrade (2018).
Oh yeah, that's a good one!
How can you forget "The Human Centipede" ....thats unwatchable!😰
I have made an effort to avoid it 👌
lol🤣@@Screened
Titane is a great body horror as well. Very disturbing.
The video in itself is good but we heard about a 1000 times already about all these movies. It would have been nice if you talked about some secret gems like others comments mentionned
Naked Lunch, Annihilation.
Raw is so visseral
I feel like another great example of body horror that's not shown on thos video is 2018 film Susperia. the body horror in the movie is both a metamorphosis type of body horror and breaking down the human body into an unnatural state
Hate to break it to you but Eraserhead (1977) is not a horror film but it’s a film that doesn’t exist in any genre.
I find Eraserhead to be way more of a horror movie than District 9.
@@Potatobrains_ I respect your opinion but Eraserhead simply doesn’t fall in a genre and District 9 is a Sci-Fi movie not a horror movie.
Body horror doesn't mean horror movie, it means it features body horror
