That's Terry Free singing at 1:00.00. He lives in New Zealand now is is an absolute delight to see in concert. Beautiful collection of vardos. Thank you Gordon.
What a wonderful place this museum is. If you have Romany roots, You must visit. I felt entirely at home and absolutely loved it. I didn't want to leave. It was great swapping family stories with Gordon's lovely daughter too. Terrible tragedy that Gordan is no longer with us, I would have loved to have met this great man. I intend visiting every year that I can.
Warms the heart to hear that folks are working to preserve the old ways, horses and all for your culture. I've been trying to find indepth videos that given nuanced details on Romany history and the day to day life from when the horse drawn wagons were more prevalent. In the US there are a few builders but I'm not sure if there are gatherings on the scale of your Appleby and Gallow Hill. For the purposes of doing the history justice as a reference for writing, are there any books that you might suggest to those fascinated folks like myself?
I hope he has past on all he knows...And his dad was born at black pool sands, I tell everyone that IT was our people that built the pleasure beach,we should be proud..
According to their website, they are open Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday Mondays between 11am & 4pm. until the 29th September 2024. More information here gordonboswellromanymuseum.com/ Enjoy the visit
