    I know the sound is messed up. I was excited to talk about this game and rushing to get this out. But I still appreciate you taking the time to watch!

    Someone just shared this on game’s subreddit, and I’m glad they did, it’s great to see someone enjoy the game as much as I did and have so much fun whilst not minding the flaws.
    Was also completely blown away by the load times too! Even opening the game from scratch on the PS5, if you use the activity card resume option then you’ll be playing within a couple of seconds with no menus or load screens. It somehow beats even Miles Morales’ short loading times!

    First off i completely agree with this review 1. You can literally skip majority of those conversations and interactions once activated you don’t have to sit through it. 2. There is too much dialogue and unnecessary at times especially that whole cat nonsense. But again you can skip it. 3. People def lied about the world feeling empty. 4. Youll never get tired of fighting. 5. Chapters 1-5 drag but once u get fire magic which is the second magic u get the game takes off. 6. The reply value of this game (havent beat it yet) but can already tell the end game is going to be great especially if they add new game plus. 7. Im glad I didnt listen to youtubers takes on the game because the stuff they complained about dont even matter.

    Hey Bear! The part where the controller buzzes to give you information, what clues you into knowing what it's telling you? Is there a popup about that too or is it something you have to figure out through context clues? That's the sort of thing I really struggle to notice and identify appropriately. It usually feels like a secret only seasoned gamers will know how to identify, like how to do that fancy spin dash thing in sonic on the game gear? Just wondering if you can elaborate on like, how you achieved the knowledge that THAT's why the controller was buzzing.
    A great video, as always, almost finished with it. I don't have a PS5 and I don't play PC games right now, but I've been seeing a ton of hype about this game (mostly cat related if I'm being honest haha) I love how detailed and concise you are, you paint a clear picture even for someone like me who doesn't necessarily get all the jargon in most videos. Be well! -Hannah

    • @KumaPlays
      @KumaPlays  Год назад

      Good question! It is definitely contextual. The controller vibration is accompanied by an audio cue as well. Different vibrations and different sounds paired together are supposed to inform the player. It can be a bit much sometimes though. I missed it a lot, even after I noticed what was happening. I was able to piece it together because I had gotten turned around, and while looking for my way back noticed the vibration would change depending on which way the camera was facing. Honestly, it would have been really easy to miss if I hadn't gotten lost.
      Thank you very much for your kind words. Glad to know others appreciate what I am trying to do.
      Take care!

    I think the prolonged pauses may be due to trying to have a universal timing for all of the different language options. That said I 100% agree they are very jarring, and probably could've been shaved down a bit to be less so.
    Got it on PC and yes - very unoptimized, but I got just barely recommended requirements and found a good set up to keep a steady framerate. I also have the same speed of loading too, was very amazed. Like it's both unoptimized and not at the same time.
    I didn't mind the tutorials too much but it may be because I'm used to them as a Squeenix fan. They could've been a bit more fluid though.
    Graphics I agree - they overpromised there and the spec requirements really don't match what's actually in game. That said it looks fine enough to me and there are *tons* of graphical options available on PC to fine tune it. But again not worth the spec requirements.
    Controls - I'm kb/m but I did not know about those controller haptics...Not sure if that works on PC or with a PS4 controller but I may have to switch and try it out next time I play. I will say kb/m controls are awesome, with tons of configurability.
    This was a good, balanced review and I pretty much agreed with everything here. Really not sure where all the hate came from other than the bad marketing. +1 sub.

      You could be right about the universal language options causing the delays in dialogue. It makes sense and I had not thought about that as a possibility.
      You're a SE fan too, huh? Then you are very familiar with their tutorials. LOL. It is like the one thing I know will be in most of their games.

    Honestly, it feels like most of the negativity towards this game is coming from a place of a lot of people having "expectations" coming into this game, more so than normal. And then feeling disappointed and confused when it turns out to be different than they were expecting (and not willing to put the effort/patience/brain cells into seeing this game for what it truly is). Forspoken is a game that doesn't pander to anyone. It is it's own beast, it's own creation. And it's like this slightly different take on a AAA Square Enix game is grounds enough for so many to just not give this game the chance it deserves. Remember folks, "different" doesn't automatically mean "bad".
    That said, Forspoken isn't for everyone, like all video games. While it's not perfect, I haven't found anything people have been complaining about to be an issue for me. Like the cutscenes cutting into the flow of the game. Sorry that was an issue for you. Once I realized that this was one of the "storytelling mechanics" in this game, I was just like, ok, this is how they're gonna do it, no big deal, let's roll lol. Trust me, there are games with far, far worse cutscene blockage than Forspoken *cough cough, Xenosaga, cough cough* 😄

    • @KumaPlays
      @KumaPlays  Год назад

      "Different doesn't automatically mean bad." I think you are right about that. A lot of people didn't want to give Forspoken a chance because the gameplay was different than normal, or the main character was different than normal, etc.
      I love this game. The cutscenes issue surprised me. It reminded me of the same issue in FFXV, but exaggerated. But truth be told, I love both games. Neither are perfect, but they are both really good. At least to me.

  • @siriushp0904

    I enjoyed the game and I will also go back through to do all the extra side stuff. My biggest complaint is the story is shallow. There was a lot to be desired by the time it was said and done. I also hated how much forced cinematics were in the game or mid-battle with some major bosses. And the end game cinematics were dare I say awful. It was too much at once. If I wanted to watch a movie I would. I’d use a special skill and put it into cool down right at the time there’s a random cut-scene that wasn’t detrimental to me winning, but rather annoying. I also think there could be more guidance when the game tells you that you’re about to move on in the journey and asks if you’re ready to continue. It wasn’t clear what that meant all the time. Like am I ready as far as strength or am I ready as far as potential detours that may not be available if I continue. It’s pretty easy to make it to the end doing maybe 20% of the extra stuff in the map. As far as combat, it’s pretty easy. They really could have expanded a lot more by not filling the map with a bajillion tasks and providing more short, but meaningful side quests. None of the “detours” were relevant to the story which is a shame. Otherwise, the combat was fun, the beginning is painfully boring and slow, but it does pick up and at least give you something to look forward to. I would agree, it’s a decent game, but idk if I’d recommend full price for it.

    • @KumaPlays
      @KumaPlays  Год назад

      You're right about the story. It could have been fleshed out more. I also agree about the detours. They were pretty lackluster. The chest and stuff you find in the open world were way more impactful than the detours.
      But for me the game is a lot of fun. Once I got a couple different spell trees the combat was a blast. I found myself just wondering off to the far corners of the map to discover things rather than playing the story. I had to force myself to complete the game for this review. For me at least, that is the sign of a fun game.

  • @Grebeny
    @Grebeny Год назад +1

    I would not call it "constant" pausing, its only in the City and you will not spend more then 3-4 hours there in total.
    The tutorials are ok, I mean it would be amazing you can turn them off, but 2 hours is too long? Did you ever played JRPG? For example FF XIII 3 and Tales of Berseria (first two that come in mind) have tutorials even in new game plus, and the tutorials are not that many.
    However, the "limitation" about some cinemacs is coming from mocap budget most likely, there is no reason Lumines or any other engine will block them there and from my expirience with the game it was visible that they were trying to hide a lot of missing animations in side quests. However, this is very from person to person, I personally love the useless stuff you do, they just help the player to understand the world better. It would feel so much better if when feeding sheeps and do other tasks they were actually animated, but its really small part of the game, its not deal breaker, just something they can improve on in future.
    Where most reviews actually suck is presenting the game's core. I finished the whole thing, and it feels like 2 different games. First you have the story, its not some crazy bad ass story as Metal Gear Solid, but it works. They wanted modern fairy tale and kind of did pretty ok with the job. I would say the end was a bit too slow for my liking, she was repeating "why" 2 hours after every piece of the puzzle was already solved by any low IQ player, that part specifically was overall ok, but they needed to add it in single cinematic or something instead of the long road they did.
    And lastly, the second game. After done with the story you finally have all trees and the game reeeeeaaaally shines there. I don't care if its open world or corridor, the battle system is so amazing, and that is what keeps a player going back for more and more. Unlike Devil May Cry and other games of the ganre, you don't need to repeat same levels again and again because you have huge open world to go wild in. There is so much to explore and at least I don't care what the rewards are from different stuff, because the real reward is the battle itself, I don't remember last time when I played a game where I was so enthusiasted about entering the next battle.

      Thanks for the well thought out comment.
      I couldn't agree more with how good the late game is in Forspoken. Once you have all the spell trees and have unlimited access to the full open world, the game just shines. It is so much fun at that point. And the map is huge. There is so much to discover. I keep losing myself in the world, just flowing from fight to fight and point of interest to new discovery.

    I think the core gameplay of Forespoken is fine. It's fun and frantic, and the traversal is really fun as well, however there are just to many small issues that keep adding up, that drag this title down a few notches. To me it still settles in the middle, a 3/5 or 3.5/5.

    I don't like that I have to wait until Frey stops talking to excentric Jarvis so that I can start moving and IMO some of the voice actors lack I don't know... experience because a lot of the NPCs dialog sound horrendous, other than that I am enjoying this game. Is not the best thing I've ever played but it's not the worst by far.

    I beat the game, still playing 60 hours in. The story was serviceable, Frey’s character development is fantastic. The gameplay flat out rocks.
    Heres my contentious take, this games world is no more barren than…Elden ring. Take away the map markers and this game is essentially Elden ring but as a super op sorceress.
    The game isn’t perfect, but the hate is totally undeserved. This game will be a cult classic in a few years

    Really loved everything about the game until the story's conclusion.
    It felt rushed...the story let's the game down considering combat and everything else was awesome.
    Can see how this game won't get a sequel seeing as the story wraps everything up and it seems they struggled with the facial animations making it seem really last gen.

    Running is nice, but where do i run in an empty, boring open world ???

      @fatboi3603 Год назад +3

      You have to be willing to go in depth and understand the combat, it makes no sense why this argument keeps arriving like DMC and Bayo don’t require thinking and willingness to understand to play. Zombies are not the only ENEMY TYPE!! If ur just gonna disinform then plz Shut. up. 😑 they’re are Lions, humanoid Beast, Bears, wolverines, Birds of two different types, and I’m guessing some monkey looking things and let’s not forget deers, and different Tanya faction warriors to fight. Saying that enemies are only 10 percent done is insane. The world isn’t empty WTH do u want ppl to walk around in a world where if they go outside to far dey get corrupted, it’s lore u can get just like elden ring, botw, borderlands 3, shadow of colossus AND keep in mind these are games dat have no npcs walkiing round SO how is it empty when the last few games I just mentioned don’t have dat and have da same as forspoken empty but yet get praised to high heaven ? Like yes the game is not perfect but not a single thing about it is boring, empty or buggy 😑

      Thanks for the comment. I am curious if you have played the game beyond the tutorials in chapter two.
      Personally, I don't get how anyone can say the world is empty. There is such variety in monsters, dungeons, etc. that I feel the world is teaming with life. There are a ton of different monster types. The more you explore, the more you find.
      And sure, the AI isn't perfect, but tweak the settings to make them smarter and hit harder. They can pose a real challenge, especially when they mix up the different types of mobs.
      I get that the game isn't for everyone, but I am really curious how far you played the game.
