New ones in Japan can even be bad for 2.3 - 2.5 usd - grey market though. Honestly never seen such a bargain for a capable / wearable watch from a big brand
I picked up an unworn trilogy Railmaster from Japan a few months back when the yen hit near perfect rock bottom for much the same money. Railmasters are super under rated, great proportions and tech. Enjoy yours mate!
Your posts have become weekend mandatory! Excellent content, laugh out loud commentary. “Better down where it’s wetter (take it from me)”. Thank Heavens you were rescued from engineering for something better.
"...sucking harder than a black hole with bills to pay." Andrew, another weekend another great video. How you can combine history, information and humor all in a video is pretty impressive. Thanks again for knowledge and a chuckle!
I hate to be the one to break it to ya but it's not a hidden gem. It's just not a popular model. Most know it exists. Imop the older Railmasters were cooler. Along with the chronograph version
The banter is actually even better than the watch content. Too many lines to quote from you but all make me smile. Legend. Thanks your videos are such a highlight to my week. Of these watches my pick would be the ploprof. What people don’t realise is just how surprisingly well it wears and how nails it is at the same time. With an epic movement as well.
I finally pulled trigger on Seiko Tuna. SBBN033, it’s a “smaller” 300m model. Wears like a charm. Lug-to-lug the same as my 38.5mm Seiko SARB035. A mere 44mm for a 48mm watch. And it glows like a torch.
Can’t beat gold polished Roman numerals that sparkle like jewels in the sunlight. Loving the sun ray dial man that pops! AMZWATCH watches. What a beautiful subtle piece.
Have you considered writing watch oriented books with your wry humor? Sign me up! Great work. I really appreciate your content. Suggestion: consider doing some more talking hands. That was your space, don’t walk away from it! Thank u
Really fun list of watches! Think I need a doxa in my collection! Have lots of Seikos , mostly divers. Also some GS. Went to the other side, and bought a Omega railmaster, silver stainless dial. Gray market, great price for a new Omega. Kind of the ultimate tool watch for me. I farm, work around 100 hp electric motors. All my other watches get removed, before working around the motors. The railmaster......nope. The forgotten, maybe unloved , tool watch! Grand Seiko makes a great tool watch also. Sbgp015 with a 9f movement. Wear that one to work also.
When are you going to bless us with a watch book? Magazine style, it would sell in big numbers, get to it!? Your humorous story telling will be just as good in the written form as with the spoken one..
As per !!!!! Top presentation . Great graphics and pics . And there’s always a gem in there somewhere for me . This time it’d be Doxa and the word ‘malarkey’ together . Two favourites of mine . And don’t be swayed by Darrenfry !!!! I baggsied first !!!! Ever onwards!!! L gooru
I 100% agree that everyone should try a Doxa Sub 300 or 300T at some point. My first 'REAL' watch was a Doxa Sub 300T, to celebrate sucessfully quitting heroin after 6 years of addiction. I'd been wishing I owned one ever since I first read a Clive Cussler book many years ago. I had trouble deciding between the traditional 'Professional' (Bright orange dial), Shark Hunter (black) and 'Aquamarine', and finally settled for 'Professional'.....Then a couple of months later, having got the watch collecting bug, I then went out and got a Sub 200 in 'Aquamarine'........A few months later, my local AD was advertising the Sub 200 Chronograph for £1K below RRP, so obviously that was another two grand gone from my bank account! Just as well I'd quit injecting heroin, as this new hobby was becoming horribly expensive. Since then, I've acquired 2 more Doxas, one 1950's dress watch, can't remember the model number off the top of my head, and a 1945 German military issue Doxa 'DH' watch. Out of the 30 or so watches in my collection, the Doxas are probably my favourites, although I've never worn the Sub200 or the C-Graph.......Amazingly my second fave is a comparatively inexpensive Seagull 1963 Chronograph, which also happens to be my most accurate mechanical watch, gaining on average 1 second every 4 days! Better than some of my Quartz watches! Personally I'm VERY impressed for an under £300 watch to be THAT accurate. In conclusion....Watch collecting for me IS an improvement on wasting vast amounts of money on heroin. It was more expensive initially, until I managed to fill both of my watch display boxes, and managed to calm myself down a bit. It's now been at least 6 months since I bought a watch (A genuine Casio F91W to go with the fake one that I unfortunately ended up with first from a dodgy ebayer.), so I think I've got the addiction under control, and I've not touched any of the H for almost 3 years now :D
I'm all in on a watch that helps with "... not dying!" The Doxa review has really helped me discover and want the emerald 200T. And I feel justified with my choice of the Railmaster - I love that silver version, with kinda orange-y, it works spectacular on a blue/orange NATO (and if you can still find that watch, I highly recommend it for a killer bargain, with a "wow, what is that watch?" impact)
Trying on a watch doesn't have to take a lot of time but i really don't know why i would waste even the smallest bit of my lifetime with a Hublot or RM! If i'm lucky, my opinions are confirmed and evrything is as before but if i'm unlucky i start liking these things without knowing how to afford them. Nah, i stick with the Tuna, Doxa and PloProf and call it a day. Thanks for a funny and entertaining video!
You had me until Hublot, but I confess that I just don’t get their watches. I also don’t understand the appeal of the integrated look. But you made me laugh this morning!
As a train designer for almost 20 years and recent employee of the swiss federal railways I wonder why I haven’t gotten myself a Railmaster yet… maybe cause I didn’t know about it until I saw this video 😅
Apologies if you have. However, was wondering if you had reviewed the A Lang &Sohne Datograph Handwerkskunst? Say that three times real fast😉. I will probably never own one. However, with your superb word smithing and excellent b roll. Well that's the next best thing. Thanks for all the great videos☮️
The Ploprof is a beast of a watch. I tried one on a few days after Omega re-released it in 2009 and it wears surprisingly comfortably. But the price is too much for me. So very likely I will go after another dive watch icon, the Doxa Sub 300T.
Another Brilliant and funny post! You would make a brilliant Comedy Sketch writer well if it was back in the 1970s! now you would be cancelled ! Keep them coming Andrew!
Hodinkee had a flash sale last week and I picked up a Hodinkee Timex Waterbury automatic for $69 reg $279. It's not a great watch but good for f-ing around 😊
You might be right….but the Railmaster on the denim and leather strap is the best weekend watch a person can own! PERIOD. That 1000M Tuna can will HAVE to be tried on my next Asian trip. I go at least twice a year, so I should have a chance. 50mm diameter case sounds huge, but the Lunar Pilot is pretty big too, and that’s still doable. I’ll let ya know. Your sense of humor is spot on…thanks for the efforts. Very enjoyable. 😂
That DOXA SUB 300 is a helluva watch, but can't see myself justifying the extra cash over the King Turtle. I know they're fundamentally different watches, but they're so close (especially on the rubber).
Great video as always Andrew. I have a specific ask? Do you have any recommendations on the alternatives of moser &cie venturer vantablack. A minimalistic dress watch with black dial.
Doxa: that no-decompression bezel seems like such a nice idea. Too bad it wears off quickly, and you wind up with a rotating bezel where you can no longer read the outer set of numbers. So, then you decide to have Doxa replace the bezel, and they tell you that they don't have any spare bezels for your watch (this is a modern Doxa, not one from the 70s). So now you are stuck with a no-decompression watch without the no-decompression numbers...
Your analogies are as complicated and amusing as a slapstick comedy plotted by John Le Carré, and your similes are like a smooth layer of hazelnut spread on top of a thick slice of toasty watch information.
@@KeepingWatchUKAnd the very heavy faux patina that looks like piss yellow is another turn off. There's plenty of reasons why that watch remains forgotten
The Big Bang and every RM watch I have ever seen are just unpleasant, not the abominations that the current watch discourse maintains. However they do clearly traverse the boundaries of good taste. Even if you squint a lot. I think you need a holiday Andrew. You've changed buddy. Can I still trust you?
I recently bought a barely-worn denim Railmaster on bracelet and 4+ warranty years remaining for $3K. A no-brainer!

Is it bad that I like the humour just as much as the watch content? Come for the humour, stay for the watch content.
Totally. I mean, who cares about a Hublot? We want to hear more about tuna cans and black holes in the red ;-)
@@thehumblehorologist6091 I actually don’t mind Hublot but this clip got me a little more curious about the tuna, which is worrying.
Nothing wrong at all with enjoying the humour! Makes a pleasant change in an industry that is generally somewhat 'stuffy' and easily offended.
This vid has more similes and metaphors than an Andrew Morgan video.
Brilliant as always.
The Railmaster is one of the Omega’s hidden gems………AND GONE. A stainless steal (I know), on the grey market. All the METAS and non of the Milgauss.
I got my Railmaster for £2,920 brand new from a U.K. dealer last November. Black Friday deal I believe. 😊
I hate to be the one to break it to ya but it's not a hidden gem. It's just not a popular model. Most know it exists. Imop the older Railmasters were cooler. Along with the chronograph version

I've seen Hublot mentioned on a serious watch chanel. I can die in peace now.
Have two baby tuna’s ( auto’s ) and already starting the hunt after the big boy: Emperor Tuna Automatic. Simply love that thing.
