I've got the Thunderbirds Vault book and it's amazing, never knew there was one for Space 1999. I never reviewed the Thunderbirds book because of the strict copyright related to the images in the book
I pre-ordered this last August from the Gerry Anderson store, finally got it last week. Just as nice as the Captain Scarlet Vault and signed by the author. Worth waiting for, thankfully, since it missed Christmas and my birthday.
The reason for the long delays in publication were twofold. Shortly after starting work on the book in 2019, the author’s mother had a stroke and he became her primary carer, severely limiting his ability to continue writing. His mother died early in 2020 and the book was finally written during COVID lockdown. However, arrangements for photographing and scanning private collections of Space:1999 memorabilia then had to be postponed until lockdown restrictions were sufficiently lifted, further delaying the completion of the book until summer 2021.
I had nightmares for years from watching dragons domain, my favorite episode now, I have a full set of cards and you can still smell the bubble gum on them
Thanks for the review, l just ordered a copy. For a long while I've been receiving ' damaged goods ' from Amazon. The most recent was a £95 boardgame that arrived in just it's clear cellophane wrap with my address slapped onto it... You can picture what all the corners looked like. The seller( company) simply didn't bother responding. As the game immediately went out of stock, l kept the one l received. I'm all for reducing unecessary packaging, but this lot whent right to the other extreme.
I actually ordered this due to your video. It's to arrive "SOON™" from Amazon shipping. 😎 Probably mostly stuff I already know in it (but you never know, maybe hopefully I learn something new), but I do like to have things in physical form, for thoise days when ISP can't deliver a stable internet. 4:58 I noticed that the promotional Space: 1999 "thingy" which is the size of a vinyl album cover, with a cut out moon shape (half of it is cut out anyway when folding it out) and with a different early Space: 1999 logo with a different font, yellow colours on the letters and an orangy flame like effect, was mentioned and had a photo in the book. I actually still have that here. I phoned our national TV network back in the days (I was only around 9 or 10 years old) and they sent me that, along with 4 black and white photos from the series. I often did that with movies like Styar Wars, Battlestar Galactica (pilot as a movie) etc and went into the movie theaters and they would put aside the posters and photos they used outside for advertising as they ran the movies. In any case back to that promotion "thingy", they actually told me that the episodes reels (or whatever it was back then when they aired tv shows) came in that, but since I was young it could have been they said "it came WITH that". I have kept it in one of my cases with vinyl 12 inch maxi singles and albums, since it's the same size and it was well stored between the album covers. A bit nagged and bent at some edges, but in fairly good condition, considering it's now almost 50 years old. I also still have 2 vinyl albums with various Space: 1999 audio stories on them. The black and white photos I am not sure I still have. They could be packed down in my basement storage, but no idea in which of all the boxes. Same with my green and blue Dinky Toys Eagles, as well as plastic model kits. Hopefully my Space: 1999 bubble gum cards too. I had a full collection which meant I could make the full pictire that was on their backsides in small pieces on each. I had 3 plastic Eagle model kits I painted as VIP Eagle, rescue Eagle and regular Eagle one, as well as the Mk IX Hawk. However I painted that dark yellow, as that is what I thought it looked like back in the days on our "thikk" TV. The plastic kit manual came with a colour scheme of the original white version, not the repainted screen used version, but I still tried to paint it like that. I had some book back then with balck and white photos in it and the repainted Mk IX Hawk had a perfect photo from the top, but as it was in black and white, I still thought it was dark yellow, but I could at least see in great detail as to exactly where it was painted different from white, as those parts were darker than the white parts. Yeah, hopefully the action figures (dolls) are still down there somewhere too. I had both some the ones with more accurate uniform colours, but also some of the weird ones with more brown uniforms. I know they are not worth a lot (not like some of the star wars action figures), but to me they are valuable, since Space: 1999 was the show that sparked a life long sci-fi passion for me. Oh well, sweet memories.
Great review, can't believe after all that time it ended up damaged. I love that you think of me when you see tatty old merchandise 😀

Didn't even know this was coming out. Guess I'm headed to Amazon.
Couldn’t really see anything! To much jumping around … shaky camera movements.
