Well, to be honest, aside od what Germans nazi did to us (yeah, that was a GERMAN nazi indeed), still Germans Wermacht deserves alot of respect. During that time we lost to one of the finest army in world's history. Even USA and GBR saw that talent of Germany's feldmarshals like Manstein.
It may be a year late in replying, but the betrayal came at the end of the war when we let the Soviets take countries that had been part of the old Russian empire, like Poland, rather than standing up to Stalin. Of course they may have assumed the cooperation durign the war would carry on rather than the cold war we actually got. At the start of the war the allies were letting themselves down.
It wasnt so much of "we" as it was the "Democrat Party", many of the generals (MacArthur, Patton, Eisenhower) wanted to keep marching to Moscow to end the problem before it started. But FDR trusted the Mustachioed Georgian.. FDR was not as smart as people remember..

Władysław Raginis was a Polish commander during the Battle of Wizna. He then said that he would either win or die at the battle site. Unfortunately, the Poles lost this battle, but Raginis fulfilled his promise. He died after the battle, exploding with a grenade on September 10, 1939 (sorry for my english)

Me, as a German, cant understand why everybody has to talk about this time. I am not proud of this and I want to forget this time. Youre right, everybody who served SS etc. was German, but not everyone was a Nazi. When you were against Hitler you were arrested or killed and when you fought for him you had the little chance to survive. What would you take? I think the little chance to spend the rest of your life with your family.

Leider hatten auch die damaligen politischen Größen Europas (England, Frankreich)Hitler zu viel erlaubt. Die Rolle Stalins ist auch nicht zu übersehen.
