Sabaton is a Swedish band that sings about historical military events, battles and persons.
There are several other songs from Sabaton from Woodstock I can recommend. Ghost division, about Rommels Blitzkrieg attacks, and Uprising, about the Polish resistance against the Germans during WWII.
Always overload of energy from the band and the audience!

Raginis nakazał swoim żołnierzom się poddać, ponieważ kończyła już się im amunicja, a sam odebrał sobie życie granatem, ponieważ poprzysiągł na swoje życie, że zginie zanim się podda. You said in one moment something like "wonder how crazy guys under this flag must be right now".. well it as hot as f..k but everyone still enjoyed performance and bounced and all party stuff. Yes I was in this crowd, in middle of red Polish flag stripe away from scene and little on left from its center. It was amazing performance of Sabaton. At this time I was 18 and it was my favorite band. My patriotism, interest over history of Poland and WWII and this type of music accumulates in this band. So I had to go to Brudstok (Polish joke name of this festival eng. Dirtstock). Two thing about things you said also - crowd is so packed because -at the time - it was highest amount of people on performance of one band in whole history of Woodstock. Sabaton thanks to 40:1, later thanks to Uprising from "nobody knows some metal band" became in Poland stars. Maybe still not many people likes metal music but their singing about our history was big case in Poland. Main TV stations, radio stations, hell even news websites and newspapers were making news about them. We Poles like when some foreigner say something good about Poland. In 2012 they were main band for whole festival. Sabaton guys told earlier that Poland is a country where their music gets biggest popularity at first, because we care about our history.
And about this flag - earlier that year Euro 2012 took place in Poland and on Ukraine. This big flag was shown on fan stands during third match of our team against Czechia. Administrator and promotor of Woodstock borrowed this flag from owners especially for this performance and did not tell anything to guys from Sabaton. This flag was surprise for them and some kind of "thank you" for singing about our history and promoting it.

Excellent reaction. All the videos of Sabaton at Woodstock are awesome and are typical of Sabaton concerts, regardless of size. They go all out for the entire set, have a lot of interaction with the crowd, and are obviously having the time of their lives on stage. It was about the battle of Wizna that took place between 7th and 10th September 1939, when the Polish army fought with German Werhmacht. Around 700 Polish soldiers defended the fortified line against 40 000 German soldiers. The commanding officer of the Polish forces was Władysław Raginis. At the end he refused himself to surrender and he committed suicide by detonating a grenade on his neck, not wanting to be taken by Germans. The battle is often called "The Polish Thermopylae" (as a very small number of soldiers defended the piece of homeland with great courage against the vastly larger number of enemies, like in the ancient battle of Thermopylaebetween Persians and Spartans).

Sabaton is a Swedish band with a loooong list of history based music.
Sabaton also has an award winning history channel that gives background to over 100 if their songs (not music award, academic, aimed at education of the public) .
Sabaton videos are often have dedictions and/or messages at the end, perhaps not always but... watching to the very end is frequently well worth it.
Animated STORY videos (short Animated history lessons with music videos in them)
    No bullets fly
    Night witches
    Lady of the dark
    Red baron
    first soldier
    Epic ORIGINAL videos.
Bismark, about the sinking of the ship
Christmas truce, about the spontaneous truce in some parts of the western front during Christmas 1914
40:1, about polish soldiers, badly outnumbered (just under 750 in all) facing 42 000 germans, they where BADLY outgunned desperately defending against the German invasion 1939 (with odds actually close to 55:1 they held for 3 DAYS when ammunition and supplies ran out.
Uprising, the Warsaw Uprising against the nazi germans during 1944.
To hell and back, they tell the story of Audie Murphy (highly decorated) and his struggle AFTER the war, so about PTSD and drug addiction that returning soldiers can face.
Fields of verdun, the 300+ day long battle fought there.
Price of a mile, about the battle of Passchendaele
Screaming Eagles, about the battle of the bulge
    Live performances
    40:1 from poland
    Uprising from poland
En livstid I krig live from Göteborg Sweden (in Swedish but there are subtitles) , very heavy again, about thoughts of a young man going to war.
    Two covers that are good
    Defence of Moscow, self explained
1916 about the devastating battle of the somme in ww1, casualties topped 1 milion if you count both sides, all for 6 miles of ground,
these are just some, there are plenty more.

The song "40:1" by Sabaton is a tribute to the heroes of the Battle of Wizna, in which fewer than 600 Polish soldiers held off over 30 000 German soldiers for 3 days in September 1939. The song's title "40:1" refers to the overwhelming odds of the battle and the lyrics tell the tale of the brave Polish soldiers defying the odds against them and ultimately prevailing. The chorus of the song encapsulates this message, with lyrics such as "Spirit of Spartans/ Death and glory/ Soldiers of Poland/Second to none/ Wrath of the Wehrmacht brought to a halt." Through the song, Sabaton shows tribute and respect for the Polish soldiers for their courage, bravery, and heroism in the face of such extreme odds.

You need to know that each polish person could be upset with their country but they will always protect it if someone tries to insult it and I'm not talking about constructive criticism because that we are okay with. We have imprinted in our blood what had happened in the past and what our past generations went through for us to be free.

Come to Poland for the next year Pol'and'rock! You will not be disappointed in any way. I guarantee that you have never been in such a festival ever before. You can even DM me, we always camp near the main stage. Not so close to be able to talk and sleep but not too far to listen secondary concerts from camp ;)

If you like polish rock scene, you may want to check something more modern, there’s that annual initiative called męskie granie, they gather together artists that are popular now together with artists that are legends of the polish scene and they make music together. I’d recommend “początek” and maybe “I ciebie też, bardzo”. It’s more pop oriented but the lyrics are another level and good music value

The absolutely free festival, not only a concert, lasts several days and is a thank you to the Polish Nation for the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity.
Organized after Christmas, its leader, Jurek Owsiak, said that people should be thanked for all their help. The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity (WOŚP) collects funds for supplies for Polish Hospitals
We invite people from all over the world to our festival. you need a tent and a sleeping bag and some food for your own use. you can buy it, but I warn you in advance that you will have to stand in a very long queue. it's better to buy something on the way.
