when i first listened to it, i abused the english version. in my ignorance i assumed the swedish version would be the same, so i didn't listen to it back then. i am currently abusing the repeat button on the swedish version. there is so much power behind it, though!

Most of there songs that are both in English and Swedish sound better in Swedish
Carolus Rex is truly their magnus opus. That album got everything right, and even though I haven't really listened to the Swedish version much (because I can't understand it), the English version alone already kicks major ass.
Needless to say, great video, and hopefully, I'll be able to see them again at some point in time. They're always great to see live, and their interaction with the crowd is always funny.

For me, the English chorus is more ferocious. The repetitive assonance on the four esses of "To the sky, see Carolus rise" blasts it into metal history. Either way, both versions are brutally good.

I attended a seminar about Carolus with Bengt Liljegrän, the man Sabaton went to for sources when writing Carolus Rex, and he said there are many myths about Carolus, but most of them are false.

+Carlos .Juárez To me it's easily overdubbing, the fast fret changing part is much shorter than you see him play there, so it's an overdub. Bad editing would have it show correctly but delayed, not misplayed.

The English version sounds translated, unlike most their other songs that are written in English. Sounds so mighty in Swedish. Kronan kommer ej ifrån kyrkan det kom direkt från gud. The crown comes not from the church, but direct from god...rides better on the tempo.
Some people have to understand lyrics to appreciate a song which I understand completely, but even if I didn't understand the sounds I think I'd still like the Swedish version better.

I'm Swedish but I typically don't like the Swedish language in song, I almost always prefer English (or some other language I don't understand). Sabaton is close though, I don't actually hate the Swedish versions, they might even be better than the English, or at least equal... Finntroll is really the only band that I don't want to sing in anything else than Swedish :P

In a song I wouldn't translate "Över Norden jag härskar" to "I govern across the Nordic countries", as it sounds trivial, legislative and too 'matter of fact'. In the Nordic countries "Nordic" isn't just an adjective but also a noun akin to "the North", which obviously has more lyrical punch.
