      Great video Earl,
      What's your take on Outcast 8s vs Xmaxx, I have all arrma rigs, 8s, all the 6s rigs, all M2Cified. So there all tank status. Bit curious on getting an Xmaxx maybe,
      Drive performance, durability, as easy to wrench on? (I'm curious enough I watched this whole video and I don't even own a traxxas)
      Don't get me Wrong, love my Arrma's, just always liked the look and Plushness (and durability supposedly?) of the Xmaxx for Monster Truck feel.
      Appreciate your feedback

      The xmaxx is clumsy but strong 💪it takes a little while to work the bugs out of it so you can have a great time the xmaxx really is king 👑 of bashers without spending a ton of money on upgrades to make it not break 💯💯👍👍👍👍👍

    I know this video is old and you have sorted the steering. I had the same issue, after giving it some throttle it started to pull to the right. It's something to do with the gyro. I temp fixed it and ran with multifunction set to zero and it stopped. Later when what fixed it for good was that the radio controller was loose in the box, glue or tape it down worked fixed it so I can run with multifunction set to mid atleast.

    Hey Earle, I just ran across a video earlier and someone mention if the pinion is too tight against spur after tightening the motor mount screw, add some spacers or washer on the line up pins to make motor mount get a slight slack on the mesh...also get the HD Traxxas adlustable tie steering rods...like $49 on Amazon somewherez....I'ma add spacers between motor mount and bulkhead pin area and see if it helps....I'll get back with ya on what I do..cheers ol boy

    • @redblue40rc33

      Nvrmnd Earl, it kinda works but takes too many washers to build up n then run the risk of making a hole in plastic with spacers or washers....needs almost 1+mm spacer to get the ticktock sound all the way round.....Traxxas cheaper out on this.....dont have this problem with none of my arrmas....ugh...oh well I tried everyway with what I had.....

    Yo Earl! Sorry about that servo! Bummer 👎🏻. Mine failed as well, and my buddy’s. I ended up going with traxxas #7749. It’s a 1/10 scale (standard) servo adapter. For servo I went with a savox 1230sg steel geared, digital coreless servo. It’s 500 oz @ 6 volts, and will resist lateral force. You would also need a 25 tooth servo horn. This is of course if your new X servo poops the bed too. The X servo has a brass gear in it, it will die too, (maybe) good luck! Thanks for your time in the vids! 👍🏻 and keep em coming.

      Yes I’ve seen the smaller servo adapters but I got this X servo two years ago figured I’d need it soon knowing traxxas servos but it lasted me awhile for a stock servo it did well I hope the X does as good

  • @davidtruelove5022

    Same thing happened to me. You need to replace the motor bearings too. Shortly after I rebuilt mine the motor bearings failed and the rotor damaged everything inside. Check the rubber Cush drive piece too. They sell a Cush drive housing that take up some slop same part # with an X at the end.

    hey earl. in one of my xmaxxs I had an issue with the motor temp wire got cut between the motor and heat sink/cooling fan and truck would only run at half throttle. So I had an xtra receiver for my Dx5c Spectrum remote so I swaped all that out. No more motor temp wire to worry about an no more glitching from servo. Hey, just set the mesh without the pins, last time i did the 18/46 gearing on mine, the mesh was too loose with the pins. Without the pins i had to trim some plastik to get the mesh right.

    The Traxxas x-maxx pin system is bunk. Try the pins at 17/50 for tighter mesh.

  • @joseCalderon1976
    @joseCalderon1976 4 года назад +2

    I don't use that pin system. I set my mesh manually and I use those aluminum washers in front of the bolts for the motor that Traxxas sells so that I don't go though the plastic chassis. From what I understand, the pin system doesn't work well with aftermarket gears. I personally would run 20/50t gearing with the stock motor anyways. Better mesh and less heat than 18/46T TBH.

  • @tonysmith7989
    @tonysmith7989 2 года назад +1

    Earl, does your spur gear slide a tad back and forth? I rebuilt the cush drive, rubber, pin, and plastic cush case. Even though it has the plastic washer with notches to hold down the pin, it seems to still have a little back and forth movement about 1/16 of an inch. Does yours do that and if it did, how did you fix it. I didn't see yours move at all. And I use Hot Racing spur and Tekno pinion. Even the tekno broke a tooth which is not normal do to the quality of the material. Anything you did to make the cush secure so that it doesnt move? Was told by the local hobby shop that it was normal for it to move slightly but if it got worse it would case problems. Saw a video where someone pot an o-ring on top of the washer that holds pin down to stop the movement.

    • @earlmoorhead5555
      @earlmoorhead5555  2 года назад +1

      Yes the spool moves around not the gear itself as they have spacer on the aftermarket spools to stop that and the factory v1 spools have red spacers so the spur gear stays in place but the whole assembly will move back in forth in the motor mount assembly 👍👍

When sliding the pinion back on I noticed the mesh was super tight with the spur. I haven’t had time to pull the motor and check the factory pin placement yet, as i had to leave for work.
