@@georgehollins Well, if you're asking, two recent releases that I've been obsessed with are Girl's Night by Loosemble and Earth, Wind & Fire by BOYNEXTDOOR. But also (assuming you're allowed to) I'd love if you revisted the K-pop artists styled me for a week series. They've had four or five episodes since aespa visited and I'd love to see what you have to say.
You are amazing. You said all the references correctly. And I think this is the first time that you have no complaints. And I thought everything was perfect, including the costume, makeup, and lyrics.❤
Your comments about their stylist needing a raise is truer then you think. The girls actually paid for half the MV costs themselves because CUBE thought Soyeon's idea for the MV was too expensive... Thankfully their contracts are ending soon and they have been implying they will leave CUBE ever since Soojin got kicked out. I, along with some other Neverlands, have been theorizing they will re-debut as OT6 under Soojin's new label and one only needs to look at her concept shoots for RIZZ to know BRD Communications would give the girls the budget they deserve.
I absolutely adored this MV. Some people think Shuhua is representing Marie Antoinette, but I agree with you that there are far too many clues to not think that it is the Queen of Hearts. I think there may be a reason for some of the character choices in that not only are they strong characters, they are also often characters who have previously been seen as villains but have more recently been seen in a more sympathetic light - Medusa and Cruella really stand out for this. I think that the statue that they destroy is probably Poseidon - I also immediately thought of Zeus - but as it was Poseidon that played Athena and Medusa off against each other, I think this is more likely. Regarding their final outfits, I love that you mentioned Beyoncé - they said that one of their sources of inspiration was attending her concert last year. I do think that some of the styling is also paying some homage to 2NE1's "I am the best".
Waiting this forever!! Glad we can have this reaction video ❤❤❤❤ You caught the Medusa and mythology reference so quickly! And every time they have Mugler in their MV are just SO ON POINT….. I mean, we have it in nxde, and it feels burlesque, while when we have it in super lady, it feels so powerful, just a silver (fluid?) armor for Athena. And ppl said Miyeon is Cleopatra ( they all stands for different misunderstood and strong-willed female “villains”)…….and I’m so SHOCKED they did this with Jimmy Choo……I didn’t know that Jimmy Choo has bodysuits/boots like this. BTW, I prefer the military looks in the intro video, but the military look here is more suitable for the song. You can check that if you want…. It gives me goosebumps!
Doesn’t matter if you’re super late because Super Lady is in my head as if it dropped yesterday. It’s like the only thing Soyeon & Co. know how to do is SLAY. Thanks for the reaction. Cheers from across the pond! 💖🫶
The vibe is a little much. I was a little creeped out by the video honestly, but that's me. I don't hate it but I don't know if I like it either. I know K-pop messages tend to be hard to follow and on the surface this seems easy to understand but I would prefer if it meant more. Can someone explain?
that's personal preference and that's totally fine! for more info on the visuals it seems heavily inspired by/an homage to iconic 2000s western artists and 2nd gen kpop artists (mid 2000s to early 2010s). they've named beyonce as a main inspiration but others fans have theorised included britney spears and 2ne1. this is basically entirely about female empowerment in the music industry. they wanted it to look big, so much that the members themselves paid for half of this videos budget (over 800k USD). if you're looking for a gidle song with less direct lyrics/messages and metaphors that are a bit more to chew on I'd recommend the "hann (alone)", "hann (alone in winter)", "hwaa" trilogy!! they utilise the link between korean and chinese culture + language beautifully to create a metaphor about love, loss and growth :)
George, you could be three years late and I would still lose my mind if you covered my favorite music videos.
You're too sweet 💞 tell me more of your fave MV's pls

Better late than never aye haha. Hope you enjoyed!!!
Btw, I’ve seen some people saying that Shuhua’s individual look is based on Marie Antoinette if that makes sense to you.
You are amazing. You said all the references correctly. And I think this is the first time that you have no complaints. And I thought everything was perfect, including the costume, makeup, and lyrics.❤
