Being a Mom, Working, Juggling it All AND HIGHLY SENSITIVE 😵‍💫

  • I am talking to anyone today that resonates with being highly sensitive, feeling overstimulated easily, being a mom, being a full time worker, owning a business, dealing with so much on your plate and tell me who doesn't fit that description… isn't that all of us?
I want to go over today the INS and outs of how I feel and hopefully you can relate to this because it is a lot at times that we are always juggling and never mind also going through traumatic breakups and really trying to work on ourselves. It is no wonder why our nervous system gets out of whack and we become stressed sick and tired. Let's take a minute and give ourselves a quick pause and reboot so we can fully understand how to take the best care of ourselves!

I just cried in the bathroom at work. I couldn’t hold it in. I’m generally a happy person but stuff is starting to catch up with me. I needed this. Thanks for sharing.

OMG I totally relate! Loud noises like yelling, car bass, screaming kids get to me. Bright blue lights while driving, fluorescent lighting to the point of wearing sunglasses indoors. I’m a mom with a kiddo who turned 18 a month ago who isn’t motivated, I go to school full time and work full time at a hospital with constant interruptions keeping me out of focus. I honestly think it’s this way by design and a culture of multitasking which we aren’t supposed to be doing. Plus on top of the mental load we have to deal with as women, it’s rough for us. I’m pulling for ya and the rest of the ladies here in the trenches

Thank you for saying this. I related to being highly sensitive. I am a mom that cares for her twin boys full-time and they’re 3 years old. The constant screaming and loud noises they make puts me on edge most of the time. I have tried to explain this to people I feel misunderstood a lot, but many are gracious as well. I’m blessed to be able to be here and it’s also very challenging. Thanks for the inspiration and transparency. 🙏🏽

Get back incandescent lights in your home. Throw away the l.e.d 's. Get into a fitness program. Start small work up to 1 hour and get physically fit. Love yourself. Sometimes you just need a hug or some alone time. Fit some of your needs into life. Focus on balance. Harmonize. Let life become a circle . It's a wheebit overwhelming. Practice some prayer and mindfulness. You owe it to yourself and edify yourself and build yourself up. Compliment yourself. Be grateful in everything.

Im taking a break from social media & the news. I don't feel like my happy go lucky self lately. My patience is at an all-time low. I recently had a really bad road rage incident with my son in the car & im more than ashamed as to how i handled it. Time to regroup. Thank you, Stephanie. I, too, live in Massachusetts and drive over 100 miles a day in & out of the city. The traffic around here is out of control. 😮‍💨

I was a stay at home dad my oldest daughter one and a half now 14 and my twins boy and girl were 11 month's old now are 12 best job in the world took them every where ,biking had one on the back towed a charriot with the other two, swimming every day it didn't rain in the summer go swimmers, hiking ,picnics ,fishing you name it when they could walk they helped grocery shop . Five years best five years of my life especially with the kids. I even worked hard labour's when my xwife had days off and looked after the kids. The x wife had a mental break down from her job and we switched rolls kids are all in school now she doesn't work I don't see my kids to often she's divorcing me. What a mess. Now I'm alone and have to start over.
Anyone feeling overwhelmed with kids don't they grow up so fast enjoy every minute good or bad when they older or there brainwashed that's when it hurts
    Good bless.
    Mr Roy ❤

Been researching adhd for my daughter and it describes my entire life, will be going for a diagnosis soon. Much of what you’ve described coincides with adhd too. I have my own dog walking business, single mom of two girls, I’m on the go constantly, it’s very easy to get overwhelmed. I totally burned out over Xmas and had to lay low as much as I could to just let my brain recover.

I can definitely relate to all the things that impact a highly sensitive person. Loud noise, bright lights, certain odors, etc. Going to the grocery store gets me on edge just thinking about going there. Like your son, soothing myself by rubbing the edge of my blanket. I've done this since early childhood. Thanks for a very " real " video. Take care of yourself. ❤

:) hi (sorry if i am spamming your comments, and it probably wont continue for too long, but i've only just made your youtube 'acquaintance' (sort of) and its fun to interact and respond to your very honest and personable videos, which feels like we are chilling having a chat, often in the car, which is a great place for that :). so, firstly, 43? wow. ive already gushed about your beauty, and your perfect lil face and nose :) so i wont be excessive or profuse, but the person you are, and at 43, although the truth is that 43 is really so young. you are at such a perfect age, mature, self aware, experienced, etc, and still yet so vital and young. i'm a 'spritely' 54 in june, and i'm not doing nearly as great as you, not that we are comparing, because, like sinead said, nothing compares to you (ouch, i hurt myself with that one, but im leaving it anyway :) anyway, wow, 3 sons at those ages, plus a business, you are a full on trooper. such a strong one you are :) very admirable, and definitely not easy, as it would understandably seem, and yet you seem to be doing very well, even with understandable overload. i do not have children but i still get overloaded. it sounds like you are smart enough to optimize that which you can, to make things more efficient and facilitating, and keeping priorities as orderly as able. hopefully your partner helps out by picking up the ordered (so smart, why not do this?) groceries and parcels, and on occasions returns home for an 80s style chippendales 'delivery' with a hat and velcro tear away clothes, and a skimpy brief, for some 'bow chicka wow wow' accompaniment over a ghetto blaster style excitement on the front porch so the neighbors can see, or not, or maybe just pick the packages up in a civilized manner to assist :) regarding the boys and the car or boisterous behavior, i am a very calm quiet person, always have been, but anytime anyone would do anything in the vicinity of my dad, he would, in my personal opinion, erupt into a Jack Nicholson while interrupted while typing on his 'book' in the shining, style outburst, or door smashing rampage, and that always seemed to damper the vibes for everyone in the vicinity to absolute stillness and silence. maybe your partner just needs to get a little psycho when things are a little too boisterous, or not, (obviously joking :) regarding your sons self soothing blanket method, one of my very good friends also used to do the exact same thing, and he's the only one i've ever known to do that :) anyway, enough of my blabbering. i just want to say that you are amazing, doing all that you do, and hopefully your boys, and partner, are very happy and thankful to have you in their lives doing all you do :) keep up the good work, and remember to keep taking those important personal moments for yourself to replenish and regenerate :) be good :)
