Leonardo Da Vinci wasn't born an artist, Michael Jackson wasn't born the king of Pop, they became who they are. Bruce wasn't born Batman sure, but he spent years training to become Batman and every night he patrols the street, even during the day all he thinks about is being Batman. Batman is genuinely his identity, more so than Bruce Wayne. There's a reason why a major part of Batman's character development is him reclaiming his humanity, through him developing a friendship with the League members, his lovelife, or his relationship with his sons, the Robins. Bruce Wayne became the Batman and now Batman has to become Bruce Wayne.

As for Helena Wayne, she missed her dad so much, that seeing an alternate universe version of her dad really made her happy in a sad way. If Helena and Dick were that happy to see Bruce, what does that tell you? Despite all the emotional baggage, Bruce means that much to them. Adopted or blood, he is their father.

To be fair they almost never show the future of the main universe just possible futures and other universe. Marvel does the same thing with 2099. I think the closest DC ever got to showing the actual future is Beyond but thats just the guarenteed future of the animated series universe

Imagine a future and/or universe or whatever where Batman has a child with Harley Quinn. Like an Injustice-esque universe where Harley fully reformed and Batman took her under his wing and they started a romance.
