    I recently watched your video where the gentleman crocheted a square to display a soap bare on with lavender flower on top on the Hallmark Home and Family show. I would like to find it again but I'm not having any luck. Can anyone please send me the link, you do such beautiful work

      natalie stewart no more than 1 Tbs per lb on soap. more than that and you risk messing with the base too much and it may not lather well

      They do after 1 Tbl per pound.

    How to make soap base for melt and soap?

  • @Sticle
    @Sticle 6 лет назад +10

    Melt and pour soap has also chemicals and tons of preservatives, some of them contain SLS and SLSA. If you really want 100% natural soap, better make your own base at home using Lye.

    • @adogcalledkuttus
      @adogcalledkuttus 6 лет назад +1

      And lye is also a chemichal. Better use fuller earth as substitute of soap. Soap always contain a minimum amount of chemicals.

      Nivedita Mitra The lye converts the fatty acids and creates the soap during saponification. So the final soap has no lye in it. 😊 Melt and pours have way more chemicals in them. Pure homemade soap is always best. 😉

      Actually your completely wrong, just like everything you need to shop around and don’t buy cheap nasty Bases from places like eBay and Amazon.
      You add SLSA to Bath Bombs Not Soap
      The Melt & Pour Base I use in My Business for the last 5yrs is the last from Aussie Soap Supplies is Stephenson Brand Detergent Free, SLES Free, SLS Free, Palm Oil Free, Non GMO, Animal Cruelty Free, Paraben Free & Phthalates Free + Contains 3/4 Less Lye - this Brand contains No Preservatives & No Harsh Chemicals
      For this Soap I Make 2 Versions 1 Using NS Opaque Base & 1 Using Goats Milk Base - Both Contain Quick Oats, Vit E, Shea Butter, English Lavender (Safest Lavender EO), Mango Butter, Jojoba Oil, Raspberry Exfoliants, Diatomaceous Earth Clay + a few other Good For You Ingredients But Mine are always & Selling at $3 - $4

    Why didn’t you use the glycerin with the second part of the soap mixture??

    • @mybusiness1500
      @mybusiness1500 3 года назад

      The glycerin was used to mix the clay into a paste for easier mixing

      You can just mix it with 91-99% rubbing alcohol (3 TBS). The whole point is to simply turn the clay into a liquid that can be mixed with the soap. As the soap dries, all alcohol evaporates and none is left in the bar.

    Is this bath soap or can use for face wash?

    You should not use metal utensils when mixing the rose clay. The metal deactivates the healing properties of the clay.

    • @SophieUlianoGorgeouslyGreen
      @SophieUlianoGorgeouslyGreen  5 лет назад +1

      I didn't know that! Do you have an article that backs that up?

    • @debgamboa3869

      Hi Sophie,
      I have always been told that by people when I first started making DIY beauty products. Here is one article I found and another that had directions to not use metal utensils. Sorry I can’t link them, having issues with my phone.
      Rose Clay mask is perfect for a brighter, softer, more glowing skin. It encourages cell renewal, and improves skin elasticity. It is suitable for all skin types, as both rose and white kaolin clays are gentle on your skin. The rose petal and chamomile powders both have anti-inflammatory properties and soothe irritated skin. Notice how incredibly soft your skin becomes after a weekly rose clay mask.
      INGREDIENTS: White Kaolin Clay, Rose Clay, Organic Rose Petal Powder, Chamomile Powdered Extract.
      DIRECTIONS: Use ½ to 1 tbsp. of clay mix. Add water, a few drops at a time, to form a smooth paste (thin if needed). Apply to face, avoiding eye area. Let dry. Rinse off. Apply moisturizer.
      Note: Do not use metal utensils or containers when preparing a clay mask: When the clay is activated by water, it acts like a magnet, pulling metals and toxins in.

      Here is the article I found.
      Can you mix Fuller's earth and kaolin in metal containers?

      It depends on what you mean by “mix.” If you are sifting dry clays together (wear a dust mask!), you can use a metal catch pan, so long as you don't leave your material in it for storage and its residence time is brief.
      If you plan to slurry your clays in water, do not use a metal container or a metal utensil. Clays typically contain some level of ionizable material, and this will react with metal. The reaction will change the clay’s properties and may damage your metal implements. These reactions will occur both in water and while dry; they’re just much faster when water is present to act as a solvent. For this reason, any wet preparation or long-term wet/dry storage should be done in containers made from glass, ceramic, or highly stable plastic like polyethylene terephthalate (PET).

      You can. I make soaps all the time, melt and pour and cold process. I prefer goats milk for the melt and pour, its hardens well and makes tons of bubbles.
