In my grandmother's house, many of the bedrooms had a lot of windows for ventilation. There was often not enough wall space for beds. Some of the beds were put in a diagonal with a corner of the room. Some were more of a diagonal than what yours was. t makes the room look so old-fashioned. We now have a 100-year-old farmhouse that originally belonged to my husband's grandparents. I have arranged the bed in one of the bedrooms in that configuration. It is a solution. I do love it.

The bedroom turned out just beautiful Mary!! My daughter and I just made 5 of the 2x4 trees this past weekend and we just love ours!! I did a 4ft, 3ft and 2ft and my daughter did 2-3ft. I painted 1 moss green, 1 white and paint washed 1!! She painted 1 moss green and paint washed the other 1. Such a fun mother/daughter diy for us!!

I love the finished look. It's so cozy! If you "need" the bed centered, you could create an optical illusion. I had some colleagues add white contact paper to their windows. It was a safety solution at school to block out visibility without using blinds (which get dirty and easily break). The contact paper allowed "light" through but also "balanced" out the wall (an optical illusion). Maybe you could try something like that if you still want the bed centered?
I could hardly believe it when I saw that linen-colored fabric and the results you had after washing. I had the same fabric - or at least very close. I bought it several years ago and made a bed skirt out of it. Every time I washed it, I had to iron it and iron it. But I still loved the heavy look and density of the fabric, especially for a bed skirt. Love those pillows!

Dear Mary, Concerning your bedroom and centering your bed with the window. May I suggest creating a faux window on the wall side. I have seen Rebecca Robson a You Tube Channel dress the real window with curtains and to add balance she does the same treatment on the wall. Maybe this would work for your bedroom to give you the added room you desire for your bed tables. Hugs 💞

I love the simplicity. You might add a large mirror in the corner to give the illusion of a window and center the bed between the “windows”. Curtains around the mirror would complete the illusion. I am going to try the hanger garland in my room😊
I bought ready- made curtains very similar to those you made for your bedroom, but not as sheer on the bottom. Then there are over- sized "wooden" looking buttons sewn about 6 or more inches apart along where the 2 materials meet. I love them. Your sheer ones are much more fun!

The curtains are beautiful! Love the solid on top and the sheer on the bottom. Whenever I sewed with cotton fabrics over the years, I always washed and dried them before I cut out a pattern because they always shrink a certain degree. What a great idea to wire a little swag to a wooden hanger!!! Never would have thought of doing that, and it's perfect on the coat tree stand. Really enjoyed the video. ~~M~~

Been wanting try Brook Linen sheets, I trust your endorsement, & much more inclined now to buy them. At least my husband does leave our Christmas tree lights on, but only at night. I'm envious you have freedom to decorate however you wish, & are able to leave Christmas lights & candles on throughout your home creating a warm inviting uplifting environment. My husband is always shutting my decorative lights off and is skeptical of my DIY's. Makes me sad he does not encourage, support or relax.
If you put the fabric in your dryer on low or air dry it should soften. Even rinsing in fabric softener or using a softener sheet in the dryer would help.
Hi Mary, last week my daughter and I bought a whole heap of sari like material at our favourite fabric thrift store (it supports adults with disabilities), to make orange thru pink to purple strip style curtains for her bedroom. Glad im not the only one thinking curtains this time of year. We're in Australia and Achieve doesn't sell online unfortunately.
Why not use some of your older linen sheets (because of their size) to make curtains out of since you like the feel of them....Also....I have gotten fabric shower curtains (without too bold a pattern or white with a little texture to them or white pattern on white) cut the header off, put a seam as the other three sides have and made table cloths out of them ...sure saves a bundle of money...or buy two and make one for rectangle or square tablecloth and the other into a round tablecloth (to layer or use on another table that is round) and with the remnants make napkins. Really nice feel to them as well❤

Mary your room looks beautiful, from the gorgeous new curtains you sewed, to the lovely red and white comforter and pillows. Love the greens and bottle brush trees you added to the vintage hanger on the hall tree! You always bring an unusual but beautiful touch to everything you do. I've wondered a few times how you and John like the new mattresses you showed us a few months back. We need new beds and would love some feedback now that you've been experiencing them for a while!

Been wanting try Brook Linen sheets, I trust your endorsement, & much more inclined now to buy them. At least my husband does leave our Christmas tree lights on, but only at night. I'm envious you have freedom to decorate however you wish, & are able to leave Christmas lights & candles on throughout your home creating a warm inviting uplifting environment. My husband is always shutting my decorative lights off and is skeptical of my DIY's. Makes me sad he does not encourage, support or relax.

If you put the fabric in your dryer on low or air dry it should soften. Even rinsing in fabric softener or using a softener sheet in the dryer would help.
Hi Mary, last week my daughter and I bought a whole heap of sari like material at our favourite fabric thrift store (it supports adults with disabilities), to make orange thru pink to purple strip style curtains for her bedroom. Glad im not the only one thinking curtains this time of year. We're in Australia and Achieve doesn't sell online unfortunately.
Why not use some of your older linen sheets (because of their size) to make curtains out of since you like the feel of them....Also....I have gotten fabric shower curtains (without too bold a pattern or white with a little texture to them or white pattern on white) cut the header off, put a seam as the other three sides have and made table cloths out of them ...sure saves a bundle of money...or buy two and make one for rectangle or square tablecloth and the other into a round tablecloth (to layer or use on another table that is round) and with the remnants make napkins. Really nice feel to them as well❤
