I just finished the Harley Benton Pbass kit!
Took me a bit longer than 45 minutes, as I was constantly changing bits 😜
I had a fixed plan with this: I wanted it to be a tribute to one of my heroes on bass, Mr Terry 'Geezer' Butler, of Black Sabbath!
For this I wanted black hardware, but unfortunately that's not optional (would be really nice if it was possible as an upgrade...)
So I had to order all of that, and meanwhile finished the body and neck by lightly burning it with a gas torch, and putting an oil finish on.
Designed and made a new style pickguard too.
I had an old EMG P pickup, and that's now installed.
    And it ABSOLUTELY ROARS!!!!!!!!!!
Very impressed by the quality of the neck and body!! The woods are really good, and the back of the neck was already so nicely finished (satin) that I simply kept it as is...
The included hardware and pickup is fine, by the way - nothing wrong with that, but not what I wanted for this baby...
    It's called the GZR
    🤘😎🤘

    Very entertaining.
Maybe you guys or can say something about the neck profiles of those kits. The descriptions only say "C." Maybe they are identical to the ones on regular HB guitars. Or do you even know if there might be enough leeway to sand the necks down to something more like a slim 60s or similar. My tiny little hands feel best on the Ibanez super wizard necks, so the regular C shape on most guitars feels too big and uncomfortable for me. Usually if I do a fun project like this I buy used Ibanezes or Jacksons and sand them down to the bone, but it would be cool do do something completely new. I'd love to build a kit guitar.

How about a purple stain burst for the T? Would go nice with the chrome hardware. Awesome to see some lefty kits from Thomann! Thinking about the Lefty T kit myself as I already own several strats, only thing keeping me back is my last kit wich was a fiasco out of the box, won't name the brand (not a HB). Will there be more lefty kits available in the near future?

The poly finish on the EVH Frankenstrat, for example it's like satin Nitro finish, but it's poly, is it possible to make it?

What about adding an additional piezo pickup?

    • @ThomannsGuitarsBasses
      @ThomannsGuitarsBasses  9 месяцев назад +1

If you don't mind tweaking and modding it's absolutely doable. I'm not a big fan of it for a semi-hollow because of all the additional parts that need to be placed somewhere in the guitar's body (battery, preamp, tons of wires, etc). //Kris

@@mathias5618 I can't. I live in CA. I get zero chances to try the guitar's I want to build cause there's a trend. I just dont like it. People are trying new thing's, that I 👍 like. Explorer, quilted top bodies that are decently priced, and thinkine bodies are hard to find unfinished and well done. Kits are fun but not always as easy as they seem. Do the parts fit American or foreign? So many thing's to consider....
