I am from this region of Bihar. Very informative video. The old man who is explaining about Mithila reminds me of a similar conversation I had with an old man in Mizoram who explained about the mizo people in detail. These people are real treasures of knowledge and talking with them and listening to their perspective is a treat indeed.

I have worked in Mithila for 4 years, excellent food and hospitality always extended to me ! I still have friends there even after 30 years I have left Bihar! Such nice food and people . Maithili people are highly educated and very brilliant, many of my friends cracked in Indian Administrative service and many working abroad in very high position. Traveled all over Mithilanchal in Bihar and Nepal. Mithilanchal can do wonders and progress if Annual Floods controlled , which prevents any industry or big investment to come in Mithila.
The terrain of Mithila ( flat plains at the bottom of the Himalayas ) makes it vulnerable to floods. But given the rotten administration in Patna the best option for Mithila is self help. To mitigate the annual floods the people of Mithila must pick up Picks and Shovels and contour the land so there are high spots at regular intervals ( every km ? ) where they can take refuge during floods but more importantly also dig deep wells in between where the excess water during Monsoons can collect for later use. Would not just mitigate the floods but also improve annual crop yield by providing irrigation during Dry Season.
I had the good fortune to visit Sitamarhi a non descript town in Bihar. I saw one colony where mostly doctors resided. Barring one or two among 50 all were either MRCS or FRCS. God knows if they lived there .
That old dadaji just gave me a glimpse of my childhood when my father used to take me to his village and I used to meet people like him in the exact same way he described to me about the village just got nostalgia 😊😌.

No other food blogger has captured this real essence of Mithila food. This is the celebration of Mithila's culinary tradition in true sense!! Love from Samastipur, Bihar ❤️❤️
I am surprised that the lunch course starts with rice ghee and dhall and ends with rice and curd. This is how we eat in the south too. So much unity in fundamentals!!
well actually south and east india has so much common in terms of culture and trenditions. If you ever get to visit any remote villages of bihar or bengal or in south india you will found that people fir sat on ground, wash their leaf plate and offers first bite to their lord and then start eating. The gratitude towards food is very much common in these areas.
I'm from Bengal. After watching this video I came to know that we the Bengalis have much common with the culture especially food habit of people of Mithilanchal. Bengali language also came from Prakrit language.. Vidyapati is being read and taught in our language, too. I am extremely impressed with the poet, honourable Jayprapkashji..and the person introducing him to the anchor.. Salute for making this nice video.
There are so many programs on TV and on Net ,however this is definitely among the best- capturing the essence of Mithila including food ,culture , spontaneity , humour and a generous hospitality of Maithils …without adding artificiality. Many thanks for this wonderful program.

I am from this region of Bihar. Very informative video. The old man who is explaining about Mithila reminds me of a similar conversation I had with an old man in Mizoram who explained about the mizo people in detail. These people are real treasures of knowledge and talking with them and listening to their perspective is a treat indeed.

Love from mithila
Thanks

well actually south and east india has so much common in terms of culture and trenditions. If you ever get to visit any remote villages of bihar or bengal or in south india you will found that people fir sat on ground, wash their leaf plate and offers first bite to their lord and then start eating. The gratitude towards food is very much common in these areas.
