The history of the shrimp net is super interesting! Click this link to learn about it! ruclips.net/user/shorts6sOwa81y6MY?feature=share
How much do the helmets typically run for?
I really enjoy your shorts, but I do worry how you're going to keep hold of a wife long term 🤣🤣🤣👍
It makes me happy to see someone enjoy military history so much
Same here :D
It makes me happy to see someone so joyous in sharing their passions, more like.
Same
Yeah opening the package with a knife and all 😕
I’m just happy to see someone this passionate about this era US military history. Seems like everyone else is obsessed with germany and Russia
I'm a hunter so we have decoy bags that look exactly like that so I might just make one because they look kinda cool.
I love how he called a K-Bar a letter opener
It's a pretty decent letter opener
Welcome to YT shorts and TikTok, where everything is so heavily censored even the CCP thinks it's a bit much.
I love how you call a letter opener a K-bar.
@@bashkillszombies I love you
KA-BAR*
Letter opener, can opener, sealed ammo can opener, heck it’ll even open the enemy. Gotta love the K-bar!
simply "the opener"
You should add a postwar elastic band to the helmet over the net like in that 100% authentic COD WW2 game has in it
I’m an ex UK Soldier and this was still issued to us in the 70s. It was used any type of camouflage my favourite use was using it as a neck scarf, using a larger piece like a cravat, it kept the cold and rain out but you didn’t overheat when you had to move.
It's nice to see people interested in the small or day-to-day aspects of history. I never knew the different Net types had names.
I love how chuffed he is with it when to the naked eye it is literally just a net .
I love how excited he is about these things honestly. It’s always fun to make content on something you genuinely love
Luv that "letter opener" 🔪🗡
"Yep, I've been shopping on eBay again."
That is a phrase I say in my head quite often. My wallet hates it, but my WWII collection loves it.
I love your content daddy!
Bro has more equipment than the Russian army
Definitely keep posting unboxings, it’s a good addition to your normal content
I got my shrimp helmet net from Jmurrayinc
You should make a documentary about ww2. It could be a short one but it basically talks about all the countries and groups, conflict and events of the 2nd World War. You can also make one about the 1st World War. If you already did, send me the video.
That's a pretty big Order. But I think that he's probably up for it .
Nah, I’d settle for “The Helmets of World War II”
This is the channel I need. Really enjoy your videos, bud.
Man this is so awesome. Where do you even find this stuff!
Ebay
Probably he got this from ebay that's all I know 💀🗿
@@WalterWipe THANK YOU! Not the hardest question but still. Appreciate it!
Cut's net with " Totally normal letter opener"
NO MY SHRIMP NET !!!!!
He looks really young until he walks to get his mail.
I thought it was weed for a second 😂
ngl, for a sec it looked like you got a bag of weed in the mail
Ummmmm....there may be a 12 step program for that 'compulsive' "E-bay problem"
It’s always good to see another video by you!
Maybe a stupid question, did rubber bands exist in the 1940s? If not, how did they tend to attach the nets to the helmets?
The net makes it look like a bomber helmet
Make a video about how you got into WW2 history and memorabilia. Wed love to hear your story
You sound just like my health teacher
These look like the pennies we were forced to wear in gym class
YOU LOOK SO HAPPY I LOVE IT
If it's actually original, that's crazy. No dry rot, not even faded. Doesn't look stiff...
Dig all the content. Reminds of days when i used to watch Combat with my G'ma as a kid 🇺🇸
I love helmet nets. They should have never done away with them
Always thought those helmet nets were the coolest when I’d look at pictures from the later stages of WW2. I especially loved when they’d throw a band of some kind around the net. It gave it a profile that reminded me of how helmets would end up looking during the Vietnam War. Keep the videos coming!!
Do you have any equipment from the French military?
It looks like one of those masks bee keepers wear
I like the helmets with the netting on it but I don't like that kind I like the other kind of netting that you see in qw2 movies and games idk why I like them I just think there really cool and I will say that helmet was pretty cool
"and now it's ready to go!"
US military wants to know your location
Such a normal letter opener, nothing out of the ordinary...
I feel like he gonna buy a grenade and it gonna be live, kablowy
Anyone else think that was an ounce for a second 😂😂 great video as always 👊
Ah a bag of weed. Standard issue 1943.
Needed this thank you
Guy is easily amused!
Crippling memorabilia addiction
you should put leaves in and bushes in between the holes
“ my totally normal letter opener”😂
I imagined having the net hang down but still attched somehow like a makeshift gillysuit.
I feel that would be good for snipers if they didnt have a better option.
But i love these videos as it shows me allot of stuff about history and i love ww2 quite allot.
Shrimp net for a helmet
That's so cool bro, when I'm older, I'd like to get into World War 2 re-enactments because I think it would be crappy, yet super fun and realistic. anyways keep making good content as always.
A Good find
that letter opener can also open letters inside of a german soldiers front pocket!
Thank you for your service
Nnnahh that's a queef catcher son 😂😂😂
You know its a good day when the camera is on his face on the way to the mailbox.
I still have the helmet liner that belonged to my grandpa. I was so stoked when I saw you put the liner in your helmet!
I’m glad I found a person who loves ww2 as much as me
Looks rad man, sick helmet
Shrimp Net: 1 Armor Class
+2 Concealment
one step closer to have your own M4 Sherman and liberate Paris
That material and hole pattern looks exactly like the material my football jerseys were made out of in junior high just a different color.
What about fishing net lol
That's a pretty small letter opener.
Sick! Keep up the good work!
You could of made a bunch of those out of mesh decoy bags there the same material it looks like
Looks like your totally normal letter opener needs to be sharpened
"Totally normal"
Looks to be a square cut from a piece of vehicle netting, it looks like one of several weaves found on WWII vehicle netting. Not designed for helmets per se but my understanding is that after it was determined the netting was ineffective for vehicles they were cut up and used by allied troops on helmets where it did a better job. The US actually developed its own shrimp net variation for helmets labeled "Net, Helmet, with Band" commonly referred to as the M44 net by collectors. This was the only US manufactured helmet net and can be seen in the ETO starting in late 1944 becoming more common as the war progressed. Original M44 nets are harder to find and typically command a higher price than cut vehicle nets but the cut vehicle netting displays great and was commonly seen in the ETO.
You’re exactly right. The video I linked in the pinned comment has more info on what you said if you’re interested. I’m hoping to get a “Net, Helmet, with band” sometime, but originals are hard to find. Might get a foreign copy for reenacting
@@WorldWarWisdom They're definitely still out there, just takes some time for them to pop up and when they do they tend to go for $100+ pricey for a net but they're a must have for any US helmet collectors. The cut vehicle nets would do very well for reenacting but if you want more of that M44 net look the Danish M48 nets are somewhat close. I've actually got one of those Danish M48s I bought by mistake when trying to get my original M44 nets. I got it for cheap and have no use for it. It's missing the band but if you want it for reenacting I can potentially send it your way, just let me know and I can drop you an email to sort it out.
when he first took out the ziploc bag it looked like a bag of weed or tabaco. idk man
He should make a shirt out of shrimp net
Lmfao, my KA-Bar is also multi purpose. Love this channel as I'm in to WW2 as well.
i collect garfield stuff as well as vintage tech and i dont even wanna know how much money ebay has stolen from me
most normal letter opener in london
I honestly thought you pulled out a bag of kush after you opened that package.
Took too long for me to find a comment saying this
@@TartarusHimselfwe smoke lol
I personally never cared for these nets. I like the 1/2 inch square ones way better. And you can actually put scrim in those too. I liked your idea of using a rubber band though. I know from experience that nets without draw strings are a real pain to put on and make look good. Yours still needs to be tighter fitting but you're on the right track!
I believe that netting came from a failed ground camouflage idea they scrapped and cut into helmet nets and other such uses for netting like Guile suits. I could be wrong tho
I hope to see some of these nets if you are making your way up to DDay this year :)
Thought bro ordered a zip for a split second
You don’t cut them up - you double fold these 🤦🏼♂️
I am collecting militaria also
Yo- I participated at my first reenactment a few weeks ago and hecause of your vids, im into the reenactment business! Thanks homie
Swear to God I thought it was a big old bag of LOUD at first
Hey Wisdom, Will you be at any WW2 Reenactments in Missouri any time soon?
I don’t have plans to travel there any time in there near future.
@@WorldWarWisdom I'm a little sad about that, But I hope you have fun in other Reenactments you do soon.
I also thought that when you grabbed your "Totally normal letter opener" AKA a Knife
It was super funny
This should be the Vail on wedding gowns
i thought that's Dope leaf for some reason before you take it from the Plastic.
put it to the ultimate test and see if you can catch shrimp with it!
Can you do a video on each countries main service rifle during ww2? Even countries that may have not participated or were less prominent actors.
If you're in the army or just a military can you still put a net over your helmet?
You may need to sharpen that "letter opener" seems extremely dull
You and boris know how to use a bayonet.
Hey quick question what do the nets do?
What were the nets used for?
I got that knife really good knife my uncle had it and he gave it to me it is in my room somewhere hope I don’t step on it
The most american letter opener
I also have an eBay problem 😂 mines Vietnam era stuff, though.
Whats the point of the nets is it for comfort? Maybe so they can put foliage in it and make it act like better camo? Is it for camo to break up the silhouette of the person
I just got my helmet to😊
The military uniform supply we sit has a lot of overstock and vintage clothing accessories supplies boots hats etc I think you should check it out if you haven’t already sorry I don’t know how to get this info to you so I clicked on one of your videos randomly to comment. I hope you see this lol
My great uncle was on d day he had one of those.
