Great video. How many quarts do you estimate you used to get it to the correct level?
The capacity for the transmission fluid is 13.9 quarts (including transmission fluid in torque converter)-but only removing the filter and pan it should be refill with about 4-6 quarts of Motorcraft Mercon V Automatic Transmission Fluid. The way you can check your fluid level is drive about 5-10 minutes (until it reached to normal temperature gauge) and check your fluid level again (change all shifting gears-so fluid can flow/recirculate). Best of luck.
@@RookieRepairs Thanks.
You should consider using Amsoil. It exceeds the Mercon V specification giving you less wear. :) Great video!
where did you get the pan with drain plug????
I got it at AutoZone - you might want to replace the filter while you at it- only use Motorcraft transmission fluid and filter
What year is your expedition
2006 Ford Expedition
I have a 2005 with 150,000 miles I don't see a dipstick how do I check my fluid?
Ford Expedition 5.4 2005? If it’s a Ford Explorer it does not have a transmission dipstick.
@@RookieRepairs mine is a 2005 nabigator I just saw your response
I have a navigator also and there is no dipstick.

Next time drain the transmission fluid by the plug.its a Allen key plug.then take the pan out
Unfortunately, this 2006 Expedition doesn't have a plug- I wish it did.
Does the 03 Eddie Bauer 4x4 have a drain bolt? If not I'm using a cement mixing tray to drop the pan.
@@johnonthecooldoe6338 if the plug is not on the pan it should be somewhere on the transmission itself. Unless I'm missing something with Ford Transmission
@@julianperez1270 Thanks man. If I can't find it I'm pumping it out through the dip stick tube. If it takes an extra drain and fill then so be it. I got a great deal on on mercon V or whatever Ford said to put in it. I think I'm going to add lubraguard on the final fill. I throw an occasional high output speed sensor code but if I erase it, it can stay gone for months. I have a new oem sensor. I need to stop being lazy. It's tuff keeping up with the maintenance on 3 vehicles and a motorcycle. Just did 3 drain and fills on a sedan with a OEM drain plug. 100 miles between. Dipstick now shows 90% clean RED fluid. if that car can make it another 100k miles I'll get 250k miles from a $22k fully equipped test drive model. The 03 expedition is at 203k I think.4x4 Eddie bauer $39k good luck getting that value for your dollar today!
Why didn’t he drain it first??
This transmission pan doesn’t have a drain plug 😬
