Classic Bodybuilding Eras left out a vital piece of information. Ronnie's body gave out because he continued to train with heavy weights while injured. It started with a herniated bulging disc. Ignoring the pain and soldering on with a severe injury is fool hearty. The body needs to rest and recuperate from injures. He is now confined to a wheelchair for not listening to his own body. And to this day Ronnie has said he has no regrets about the way he trained. However, his optimism for the future and his enduring work ethic is what made him a legend in bodybuilding.

Very inspiring story. But it glosses over the stark reality that modern-day competitive bodybuilding is not healthy:
1: With rare exceptions, you cannot be competitive without steroids.
2: Achieving the necessary exaggerated muscularity requires stresses which destroy vertebrae and joints.
3: Being competitive involves numerous other practices that jeopardize health. E.g. Human skin does not normally stick to muscle in a way to sufficiently delineate the muscles. To achieve this delineation, before an event, bodybuilders must deliberately become dehydrated, often ingesting diuretics.

I remember big Ronn watching him on video while I was in college on many occasions and in mr. Olympia championship in the 90's I use to say this man is gigantic he made Arnold look small at 260 something or 285 something to 300 massive. I shock that a human could be that massive and bulge of rippling muscles one over another dimension Devine evenly he was scary to watch and see but it was like a perfect picture. That's a whole lot of juice, protein and eating he was doing and taken to get that huge. Thou Great that he doing well and he is still around that's real king of body building there for sure Ronnie Coleman. They go thru such a lot to get that dollar using there body that's a serious one man sport.❤💪🏽💪🏽💯🙏🙏🙏-- --✌💯

I’m a woman with diastasis recti (from pregnancy) and I work to bring awareness to the condition among moms to be…Mine could have been prevented. I even work in rehab and studied kinesiology..not mentioned anywhere, not even in pre-pregnancy books or classes. Yet it’s insanely common 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️
it looked glaringly obvious Ronnie had it even during multiple Olympia wins…I can’t understand how (or maybe it was??) it was either overlooked, or undiagnosed?? Maybe he just pushed through and ignored it idk.
it can be hard to understand how it creates muscle imbalance and requires really super careful techniques to rehab it, and even then lifelong core stabilization exercises to prevent making it worse, but to prevent serious back pain and injury.
I can’t imagine the amount of heavy weights and straining etc he was doing with that injury, and it definitely didn’t look healed. With DR, we measure the gap in finger widths and his looked at LEAST 2-4 fingers wide! that is severe.
it was undoubtedly causing an insane amount of agonist/antagonist imbalance and catastrophic strain on his poor back. Bless you Ronnie!! 💛💪 #awareness
