+CarsandCameras Maybe it was just the fisheye on the cameras, but it looks like the steering geometry on Ike's cart is causing him to lose contact patch on the outside tire during a sharp corner. you can see it at 2:50 when Ike first loses it... the tire seems to roll onto its edge as soon as he tries to correct his slide.
They had stated in a video a while back that they didn't want to do that because there are tons of videos of that on RUclips and they want to stick to something different/original & something that a lot of people could possibly afford.

GO kart number 2 had all the advantages, just the driver had heavy feet.... would be nice to see same race with tire modes, maybe ice cleats installed. but over all i enjoyed

Did he just know the course that much better? Two of the corners are quite technical, that hairpin especially looks like it's on an off camber... and those were the corners where Ike was losing time. I have to believe that Ike's is actually the faster kart. John's looked like it was more stable in the corners. This was good. :)

Yeh I had thought about that ' I have an old pair of front fork shocks that cam off an old 20 inch BMX bike I found at a garage sale for 7.00 $ ' I figured if I cut em down 'or pull the springs out & weld em between the seat & frame at least it would have some give to it . One of my top 5 videos form C&C. Wish the Kart I built was there as well . Mine has DEESTONE 6.5x13.00x6.00 turfs on it and my traction is really not any better than your slicks.
You guys should do a 3 way build off. Motors and clutches - torque converters have to be the same. Big block Tillotson. The rest is fair game lol Race 10 or so laps around the oval track and like 3 or so laps around the Grand Prix track.That would be epic. I miss these older vids back when I first started watching like 4 - 5yrs ago. Love the new vids also don't get me wrong especially since adding Charles. Definitely a great addition to C & C 🔥
The difference between the two drivers came down to better throttle control. John was controlling the throttle much better where as Ike was hard on the throttle without lifting as much as john. Pick any part of the track that has some breaking involved in it along with some high speed turns and watch both of them drive the same area much differently then you're gonna notice how John lifts earlier and taps the throttle more while using less breaking where as Ike does the opposite. John carries less speed going into the corners/turns letting his Kart cruise around the turns better and gets on the throttle earlier giving him another advantage in the straights if you will. Great fun though.
I think John had a SLIGHT advantage with weight distribution while, giving him slightly more traction in the rear for more speed while drifting the corners.
+CarsandCameras Yeah, it's extremely expensive and competitive. you need a bunch of time to be competitive at all. And new engines cost between $1500 and $5000 new, and have to be "freshened up" at least once per season. It's fun and I'm glad I got that experience, but it just wasn't worth it for me anymore.
blake woolam That's such a bummer that there isn't an option for people like Ike and I that are just looking to have a good time. There's always the GoPro Motorplex!
+CarsandCameras Actually, now that I think of it, there is a clone class, at least in my area. They run Chinese close engines, and there are stock classes. Maybe you should look into it. It is still quite competitive, but much less expensive.
Ike, it looked like you kept trying to man handle it, which would set you up to spin. John on the other hand was being "gentle" or "soft" on the throttle. sometimes, slower can be faster.
I want to see those karts on an actual track sooo bad!!

your next project should be a shifter kart with some kind of motorcycle engine maybe a Yamaha R6
