  • Comparing Voice 1 vs Voice 2 on the Fishman Fluence Moderns. Voice 2 is seriously UNDERRATED, with the right setup (boost) it feels chunky and stands really good in the mix. Going through Pantera's Mouth For Warn and Regular People (Conceit) intro riffs for the showcase. The drums, bass and vocals are part of the backing track, all guitars are recorded by me. Using the KSR Eros at the front of the amp to tighten things brutally.

    Hey super cool guitar. The pickups sound killer. I just got a Schecter SLS Evil Twin E-1, and I have a question does the Voice 2 sound when the knob is pulled out? Then with Voice 1 you leave push/pull knob in? Your right, I feel the Voice 2 is underrated. With those pickups can you a more passive sound with voice 2? Sorry for the quesitons.

      Hey no problem! Yeah the default wiring activates Voice 2 when the knob is pulled. Voice 2 will be lower output, less compressed and have a more... well, passive feel overall.

    How do you switch from voice 1 to voice 2? I feel like I’m liking the sound of voice 2 a lot more and I have these pickups coming in the mail with my new Solar guitar

      The most common way is to have the voicings wired up to a push/pull pot like the volume, but it can also be wired to a separate switch or even the pickup selector. Up to the manufacturer.

      @@SergioChongLoo that’s what I figured, looks like in my case it’s a push pull volume knob, like you said probably the most common setup. Cheers!

    do those fishmans last long under 9v/the battery pack? their voice is awesome, but i've heard that they don't last very long under 9v compared to other active pups. not sure if charging is a major concern to worry for the fishmans (never try actives before)

      I can’t really tell you because i use neither, I use an EMG external power supply (via stereo guitar cable) for all my actives. Most of my guitars have active pickups so it makes no sense for me to have individual batteries all over the place. Also don’t like the idea of having to plug a separate usb cable to charge the battery pack.

      Fishmans draw more current than EMG's. Tested. Not by the mile to be honest but more. Yet ...the sound is way much better... especially with Alnico ones. (do not go with Carpenter's signature ones - rubbish. Moderns original and Tosins are awesome)

      @@xenzenco Carpenter and the KSE are the only ones I haven’t tried... pretty much everyone agrees the Carpenter are not worth it.

      @@SergioChongLoo btw which one do you use to power the EMG power box, 9v batteries or 9v adapters?

    Nice playing but why most demos of those pickups sound so treble boosted?

    • @SergioChongLoo
      @SergioChongLoo  3 года назад

      You mean how most of _my_ demos or most demos out there in general? Are you listening to the samples through a particular headphones/monitor system?

      @@SergioChongLooi didn't mean your demos just this pickup. It appears to be a bright sounding pickup.

      @SergioChongLoo  3 года назад +1

      @@0Orion Yes in general you could say it's bright due to the fact it's a ceramic based (ceramic bridge and alnico neck in my case), but it's really not brighter than your regular EMG for example. If you like the sound but are just concerned about the brightness, I'd recommend going for the alnico model, especially if you already have a bright sounding guitar.
