I'm sorry man. My dog Bailey recently passed away. I've had her since I was 7 and now I'm about to graduate college, so it's been a long journey. I hate that I wasn't there when she died, I was out of town doing an internship. Everyone was there with her but me and I wish I could have been but I wasn't. The next time I was at my house, I was eating dinner and once I was done I put the plate on the ground and walked into the kitchen. When I came back out I looked at the plate expecting it to be clean and it wasn't. That's when it really hit me. I had known her for 14 years of my life and grew to know her personality. It might sound dumb but she was like a real person, she was happy and sad, energetic and tired, she whined and begged, she even looked visibly guilty when she got into something she shouldn't have and would go hid in some corned ashamed of herself. At some point the line between pet and family blurred and when I lost her I knew I had lost family. Obviously I can't imagine losing my mom or anyone else. You are really strong for getting through that, even though there is still probably plenty of tunnel left to go...I wish you luck Max.
