How Did They Get This Far

- Shawn and Mike got a call for a Honda car stuck in the snow up Sand Flats Road. On the way up the hill they had issues with Big D. Lost fuel pressure. After some quick diagnostics they found a popped off fuel line. Once that was addressed they were on their way to the customer. They got there and decided to finish spinning the car around to go out the way they had come in. Then a couple pulls up some steep parts and some shoving they got it out and back to good roads. Thank you everyone for watching and supporting us.

You say “Thanks for watching “ I say Thanks for recording!!!
And thanks for editing and posting.
And thanks for taking the words out of my mouth 😂❤
Shawn is a RUclips certified master mechanic 😂😂
RUclips University is the best education
Master mechanics who can't smell fuel pouring out on the ground by the pint. 😂🤣😂🤣
The Shawn and Mike show is always entertaining! A little tour guide, a little troubleshooting and a little towing 😂😂
Good job Shawn suggested the old bang on the tank trick. It obviously wasn't a bad pump motor, but getting under the tank to whack it allowed you guys to spot the leak. great stuff. :)
They should have smelled the gas but I bet the wind was blowing the smell away from them
But the first thing you do is blame it on Ford! PURE proffesionalism.
There's nothing like traveling with a couple of mechanics. Can't beat that with a stick!😂
It is also fortunate that they have tools. A mechanic without any tools is just as helpless as anyone else. ALL of my vehicles have tools, AND, a spare serpentine belt along with the tools to change said belt. Harbor Freight has a nifty tool kit especially designed for installation of a serpentine belt. Even if you do not know how to change the belt, if you have the tools and a belt other people can help you change it. That is one of the few things that will stop a newer vehicle that CAN be repaired in the field.
Only thing better is being a seasoned mechanic on a trip. Even if you have an issue, you don't have to rely on anyone else..

You guys are awesome
And hilarious
We need a uncensored version!
Definitely needs an uncensored version, I'm just scared that might bring us to Only Fans, and we don't need these guys that uncensored. I mean some ladies may sign up though 🤣
2:39 You'll anger the engineering gods if you pack your tools away before you've confirmed the fix has worked!
I know that's right!
Hopefully when they get back to the shop, they will invest a little time and install a compression fitting on the end of that gas line so that they can install a hose barb fitting for the hose. These newer fuel pumps have too much pressure to just use a hose and clamp on a straight tube.
Between Murphy and the engineering gods, they've got it covered. Wrath shall follow.
But listen to 'em, dissin' Fords for something THEY put together coming apart. LOL
I know it’s a joke, but there is only one God. If you had a understanding or a relationship with God, you wouldn’t make silly jokes that are offensive to the creator/God. Jesus❤

thanks for taking us along for another episode of "the mike and shawn show". perfect!
Mike and Shawn to their own rescue... then to the customer.... and it is "Running Like a Turd" is very close to 'Running Like a Ford' 😂 Ole Blue must be at King of the Hammers 🙂 Thanks for sharing Shawn and Mike 🙂
My F250 diesel towed a broke down GMC with four tons of bail up a steep hill. Ford built tough!
I just don’t like all the electronics. 🤮
Yo. The Mike and Sean show!! ALWAYS A GOOD ENDING!!
They crack me up!!😂
Hello Rory Shawn and Mike. My favorite part of Saturday💥⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐💚❣️
First 3 minutes of this video is why you all are the best to watch. Problem. Diag. Fix. Proceed. Keep it up. Smashing that like.
It's probably the fuel filter is clogged and that's why it built up so much pressure that the pushed the hose apart.
That's why it's running like crap too.. Not getting enough fuel through the clogged filter.
That was likely before the filter. That truck has an in line filter mounted to the side of the frame just behind the cab.
@@javman03 Yes.. The filter is under the cab.. and if it's clogged it will create a huge pressure spike from the filter all the way back to the pump.. because the pump keeps pumping, but there's nowhere for all that fuel to go since the filter is clogged.. and there's not pressure regulator back there.. so again, that huge pressure spike is what pushed the hoses apart.
Glad you got it running so you could rescue the brilliant customers that thought a snowy offroad trail in a car made sense. Lol
Note that they did drive all the way up there unaided. Itappears they decided to turn around, perhaps due to the snowfall, possible at the wrong spot. They amazingly well. Almost everyone has done something like this and needed help.
@@geraldhenrickson7472 But, it was fortunate that they had phone reception. Reception in the boondocks is iffy at best. Think what it would have been like if the phone had not worked. Not much traffic on a road like that, especially in bad weather.
I was trapped under a motorcycle, and could not get into a position to lift it off my leg. It was during the middle of the week, and on a rugged road/trail that does not get much traffic. However, I always carry a Personal Locater Beacon that can access the search and rescue satellites. Thank goodness that I wore my slip-on mini-boots that day. I was able to pull my foot out of my boot and drag my leg out from under my TW200 dirt bike. I would have felt bad to drag out search and rescue just to lift the bike off of my leg, BUT, I would have done it. If I had worn my lace-up boots that day............I probably would have had to tap-out!
Nah the point they should have turned around at is where the snow on the road started.
@@geraldhenrickson7472 most have done it in the snow to get home maybe but an offroad trail is already a challenge for a car without an inclement weather. At the very least have chains if you are going to attempt it in the snow. Or don't and just go for it and call Rory to help you out after.
Or right where the pavement ended..@@m_ssingp_eces
Nice field repair.
Thanks guys!
Big D doesn't sound well 😮😂 Another great video ❤ Beautiful
I've got a shitty 20 year old Jeep Liberty and it has 4wd which at least gets me to trailheads/staging areas well enough... but man, I'd never take it down a road like this. And these guys thought a sedan would be just fine. The confident incompetence some people have really blows my mind.
Do they give away licenses in cereal boxes now?
How anyone would think that car could make it on that road is beyond me... This is funny but at the same time a serious danger to responsible drivers...
Always like the Mike & Shawn show! You cant blame Ford for the fuel line, tho. That line was cut, probably when the towing rig was installed, and 2 worm drive clamps is not the best answer. Maybe THREE clamps?
7 is the right answer lol
Shawn and Mike are hilarious together.
Another great episode of the Mike and Shawn Show.
Shawn is "this thing runs like a turd" a technical term, and if it is we need to sit down with a beer or two to discuss! 🤣💩🍺. You both earned your money on that rescue.....like actually pushing the car 😇.Great vlog as usual.
Everyone needs a little Mike and Shawn Show in their life!
The height of optimism is packing tools away before giving it a good try out! Thanks for sharing Mike and Shaun👍👍
Snow on mud! Nice combination.
Always a good day when big D is on the Job btw those 460’s usually like about 15-20 psi of fuel pressure
My F250 runs a BBC.
Wow that’s some beautiful country out there guys thanks for taking us along with yea
Shawn and Mike show, never a disappointment. Has the gentleness/kindness vibe of an off-road wrecker version of the Mr. Dress-Up show (Canada-Mr Rogers US??). GK
Totally Mr Dressup vibe. Aww, I'm 6 again 🤩
Beautiful scenery good job guys.
What beautiful countryside you guys live in, I'd have to have shares in a gas company to take my 454ci all the way from East Kootenays to Utah, but I'd like to
Thanks for the ride fellas. Enjoy your day.
Yeah, it seems like Big D doesn't get any love. What do you expect
That's because the Ford is the DUFF
Yep, jury-rigged fuel line fails and it's the vehicle's fault ...
It’s been a while since I watched any of y’all’s videos or any of my other favorite videos. Pertaining to off-road wrecker service. I’ve been very sick off and on. It’s so good to be back.
And how neither of you quipped “it ain’t got no gas in it “shows amazing restraint
but you HAVE to say it with Carl's accent.
I didn't.... no restraint here.
Was the first thing I said… 🤷♂️
The Mike & Shawn show pulls another one out of their hat..😁
great recovery Shawn and Mike, a car driving where they don't belong in that type of weather, they is no one except the Honda got a little bruised, good thing Mike banged on the tank to find the hose popped off, good easy fix, yes I would say Big D likes going downhill more right now 😉 you boys need to get Big D into the shop and give him a bit of love , go through him from bumper to bumper and fix those little things like fuel lines that'll leave you stranded, good thing you two are off road master mechanics 😉 Great video one the parts of my Saturdays next to the best cup of coffee freshly ground beans 👍
Good work, guys! Purty scenery, too....
Thanks Shawn & Mike for a little drive in the mud and snow and a quick recovery in beautiful country.
Can’t help but admire (?) your sense of obliviousness to danger. “Running like crap… Off we go!”
There's a job to do and they're already on the road. Doesn't exactly look good to the customer when you have to call them and let them know it's gonna be an extra couple hours because you're broke down, especially when they're up a mountain in freezing temps and a foot of snow with weather getting rapidly worse. Customer safety takes priority over all
@@Patrick.Weightman well, that’s silly. If your ability to provide rescue and safety is left to chance, you’ve really put nobody but adventure first.
@@markstevens1729 The truck is a mobile toolbox. You can always fix the truck on the go, but you can't fix a frozen customer.
@@Patrick.Weightman oh sure, bring up the mortal danger factor. With that in mind, the risk of a wrecker breakdown and the ill-conceived idea to bring a two-wheel drive that far out kind of balance each other out. The good side wins another one… 👺
Always inspirational having fun being aware of surroundings no matter the situation our kind of boys that built America 😊❤
The fuel issue with Big D is similar to an issue I had with an 81 Tbird. I ran out of fuel, figured fuel pump died. I put on an electric to bypass the mechanical and got it home. Went to do a permanent install, found a leaking line at the tank!
See what had had happened is Shawn was driving!!! Love you guys!!!
'Reasonably OK'. Makes me feel so comfortable. 👍
The Mike and Shawn show, always fun.
Another beautiful recovery gentlemen pleasure watching y'all
Dang Mike "It aint got no gas in it"!!!🤣 People take cars places they never should, great recovery!!😀
Love the mike and shawn show! Great job on the field repair! Get ya sone high pressure clamps for safety!
I've had a lot of jobs but never had one where I'd had so much fun as you guys.
Shawn and Mike to the rescue in the snow and mud with Big D which likes going down hill!
I knew this was going to be a great video (17 sec in) when they blame it on a Ford right off the bat!!!! Pure ecstasy for the bow tie boys! Oh, that's right...they NEVER breakdown. Still the best show on YT.
Thanks for sharing. Flare tool for the win. I’m guessing he took the biggest Philips and push and pull to roll a lip on the tubing to hold it together.
Aye, truck is doing all sorts of clanking and sputtering. Clearly there is something funny going on with the engine. On a different note, it might be prudent to install low tow points on it to hook onto something because while wrapping a shackle around the boom worked, it could very easily pop off a hose and then entire thing does not work. You need something like a D ring welded to bottom of the boom or something.
Yep, had fun. Thanks y'all
That mud looks nasty. We have a lot of red clay here in Missouri and it's just a mess with the right amount of rain. Thanks for the video!
Love your shows I watch it every week and have for the past 21/2 years . I don't know why you all bad mouth FORDS all the time. I own a 2014 F-150 4x4 with a 5.0 coyote with 256,000 miles on it best truck I've ever owned and I've also owned Chevy's and Dodge s
Shawn's laugh makes him sounds like a mad man. You guys have a level of fun that makes me jealous I don't work for Rory
That is one handy tool kit. Have one.
City folks, gotta love them.
Love some Mike and shaun show!
Thanks for taking us along
Nice recovery guys. Quick roadside repair on Big D. Putting the tools away before confirming it's fixed is always a gamble. Paid off. Thanks for sharing
A great lesson in snow and mud driving for this customer. No judgment, just helping with a great attitude. I really needed your no fuss fun today, thanks
Get a flaring tool that has a where you can double flare only what you do is you don’t go all the way with the flare you just on that steel line go in a little bit and it’ll make it expand a little for you so when you put your rubber line back on the fuel line, it won’t come back off
It's great to see you out of the shop on recoveries again, and it's awesome to see some of that amazing scenery that we love so much. I think Big D needs an overhaul, it doesn't seem like it has enough power left to pull anything uphill, or maybe I'm mistaken. Thanks for taking us along.
Mike and Shawn show. Good work men. 👍👍
Thanks for making
Y'alls videos are like a drug, addictive 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
You guys really do have a good time together. Clearly, it's authentic and not just for the video. Nice work and be careful out there.
Hey Mike Shawn Awesome hanging out with you guys 💪🏻👍☮️✌️
Love to watch the Mike and Shawn show!!! I can tell Shawn's a big fan of Ford, I am too, lol. Lol great job guys! Thanks for the video
🤣Shawn: just put it on rewind, youll see us going downhill but backwards🤣
I personally, would definitely enjoy the view out though💚❣️
Always a good time on the Mike and Shawn show!
That Ford probably holds a record for turning the most gas into the least power😂
I love that Mike always points out the bits of nature. In the midwest we have some pretty country but mostly flat and either row crop fields or dense woodland that you can't really see through. The open and varied vistas in and around Moab are beautiful. I made a trip through there once and stopped at arches national park and hikes a number of trails in the park for a day. I wish I would have had more time to explore. As long as they don't close all the trails down I will defiantly go back for a longer stay.
You guys make the difficult look easy! Great fun to watch you get out of any situation without breaking a sweat.
That car was a really nice blue😊
This is almost as good as the Dirtbilly Deluxe channel 😅
You guys might consider carrying a handheld flaring tool. We used to keep one in our race car as part of our emergency tool kit.
Nice snow and muck recovery. Loved the man power method - push the car along from behind while cheering the car on! Cheers to you guys!
the fountain of gasoline makes troubleshooting easy. always a good time with the Shawn and Mike show!
Nice easy recovery guys. Great job!! Nice to see you working in your winter wonderland office! LOL!!
Never a bad time with the Shawn and Mike Show
The human mind and the way it ticks over in some people is amasing.
Great job guys. Thank you 😊
The blue on the Honda is an amazing color.
That FORD TOW Truck is BAD ASS...!!!
Nice recovery, end of that fuel line needs a bit of a flare to stop the hose coming off.
Men I love the country. I live in Wyoming worked in Greenriver. Never.used my truck on that side of the hill. A Willeys. . FUN.
Lucky you. I've been trying to move out to Wyoming for ages but I just can't find any work out there to save my life.
I used my 10' Trail Mater rope today love it 😎 had to spin one rig around in the snow and did seven recoverys total today 😂 used my 30' too 😊
I vote for BIG D getting a 12v Cummins! Good Job Mike and Shawn! Mike, are you sure you're not missing Wisconsin weather? First tornadoes in February!
GO TRAIL MATER AND MIKE AND SHAWN OF COURSE. That was pretty simple except the pushing part lol. Thanks for the video guy's can't wait for the next one.
Shawn & Mike Show doing a job on a snowing road in the mountains, helping a stuck car. They did a great job as always., Where is # One? Shawn and Mike seem to be doing everything any more, is the Boss OK?
Great snow video Thanks
We appreciate the support! Thank you for watching!
You guys are always a hoot! And good to have along on adventures, especially when stuff happens!
Good video. Thanks guys!
Nice rescue ! 👍
Because it is Fuel injected it should have between 40-50 psi at the fuel rail. More than enough pressure to pop that line off with no flare in it.
Sounds like a fouled plug or more... I have a 92 f150 have had more good than bad out of it, but one time after just finding and fixing an ani freeze gremlin leak on my thermostat housing hose🙄 I thought about time I finally found out where the fluid was getting out , and well that's another story, I took it for a drive to town...as soon as I pulled onto the highway it started to sputter and buck I was like oh this is a knew one. Well I found that one of the spark plug wires was off. That was it, I popped it back on and I was back in the saddle again. Ran for years after that pulled my trailers full loads 2hour trips ,when I moved and then some before my steering column snapped, well it was the shifter on the what isn't a column anymore ,. They don't make full columns on these ,and the shifter mechanism is made up of white crap metal. It left me stranded on the side of town and I did not like it, with the enormous amount of blessings from God 🙏🙏🙏 an angel named Angela stopped within a minute of me saying a prayer for help, I was 2hours away from home now. I had two dogs in the truck and if it wasn't for them I wouldn't have been all to concerned. But she happened to be an ex heavy equipment mechanic on her way home from her job at a truck parts and service shop. She got my transmission into drive from underneath as I had my foot on the brake. Trust me when I say sent from God, I sitting on the side of the road in my rusty scrap metal truck and trailer grubby as I was,and a woman not only stopped but had not been afraid to get out and help me, cause she said she knew it was about to be dark soon and that area was /is known to be seedy. I asked if it was ok for me to give her a 🤗 hug and she hugged me back. I thanked her smiled and waved as we drove off in different directions. I still need to send her a big thank you one of these days. Well I just thought I'd share that rescue that someone did for me. 🇨🇦🇺🇸
Needed this this morning 😅 thanks boys
Shawn wicked evil laugh had me .😊😅😅😅😅
