Can you make a demo video on the MODX showing how to to create a song step by step using the scenes, style parts, drums, bass, etc,, arps, rhythms, patterns sequencer, etc?
@@elyad67 I have Yamaha modx. I updated and I got 16 track sequencer. There's no way I can use this sequencer. I used the old sequencers such as the Roland xp50, Roland Fantom x and korg Triton. Simple yet powerful. Yamaha need to change their sequencer. I'm forced to hook up my keyboard to either Logic pro or Cubase.
@@AbdiPianoChannel that's true man, i was on the verge of buying a MODX8 until the sequencer, I really cannot stand software DAW's and luckily the new Fantom gives you total independence from DAW's and software. Costs more but definitely worth every penny!! Nonetheless the MODX is still a proper bang for buck!
Yamaha took a huge step back by removing the extremely capable sequencer in the Motif XS and XF. I hate booting up the DAW every time I want to lay down smthing very quickly. You just can't do that on the MODX. I will hold on to my MOTIF for the time being.
Excellent tutorial. I love using the MODX two sequencers when I create performances. Often I get ideas when making performances, and having the pattern and song sequencers are great for capturing my ideas. Later it all goes into CUBASE. Of course one could create whole songs using the MONTAGE/MODX sequencers. MODX/MONTAGE + CUBASE= great workflow.
@@lassel1644 When i first got MODX i was like, should i skip its sequencers and really learn CUBASE sequencer only? In the end i embraced both MODX and CUBASE sequencers. But if i could only use one sequencer, it would be CUBASE. Before CUBASE a couple of years ago, i used only hardware for everything. I still love a good hardware sequencer. There are times when it is nice not to be tethered to a pc.
yes it the same.... the differences are: ModX has plastic chassi, not so good keybed, no extra outputs on the rear, no midi thru jack, 64 voices only on the FM part. Less buttons visible on the chassi
Blake, please make a video tutorial on how to make a scenes with full drum and other instruments sequences...many of us would like to use a modx montage as an arranger keyboard..just to make fast demo songs, there's no tutorial on how to do that!! please!!!
@@YamahaSynthsOfficial Greetings, how can I purchase one of these boards from Jamaica? I love the bundles at Kraft but they advised me that they are not permitted to sell to persons outside the USA. I checked the Yamaha website and it directed me to the Caribbean and Central America distributor in Costa Rica. This is not consistent with my language and we mostly trade with the USA. Please advise as I want to buy from a reputable entity. Thanks.
Does not make sense in the song mode to have to 'overdub' to record a different part track. Replace should just replace the current MIDI track. Otherwise its impossible for you to come back the next day a re-record for instance the bass part of the song. I see that as a bug that recording bass on MIDI channel 4 actually erases all MIDI tracks instead of the current one. Another problem : You can't record several take and take the best one ( the latest ) with the loop mode in 'replace' mode which is a shame. Another problem : The initial stroke can be missed in punch mode in case you hit the keys slighlty before , which is very likely to occur . They could have fixed this by 'snapping' the recorded note to the closest bar with a small quantization that does not affect the melody ( say with a resolution of 1/64 of a bar that's enough )
I noticed you have a Performance sound with all the Performance sounds you need for a Song. It's incredibly annoying that the only way to record more than one Performance sound into a Song is to create a new larger Performance sound, link it to the Song, then toggle off/on each Performance sound within the larger Performance sound until all the tracks are recorded. If you need to add another Performance sound, you need to create another even larger Performance sound then link that to the Song. Seriously, what was Yamaha thinking when you thought this was a great idea? Come on Yamaha, Performance sounds should NOT be linked to a Song. Please make what is a laborious and difficult process to record a Song with multiple Performance sounds easy by allowing the user to add another different Performance sound to an empty track in a Song and allowing it to be saved without the Song defaulting to the first and only Performance sound and removing all other Performance sounds in the other tracks when its reloaded. Yamaha is making an easy process extremely difficult and frustrating for the user. This is an easy software update that should be available to your customers (like me) who want an instrument that works to its full potential without (deliberate?) constraints.
This video sucks for people who are trying to learn how to use the synthesizer for the first time. The manual and reference book do not give clear, simple instructions. I wish I never bought the MODX7.

I totally agree.
It needs a more in depth tutorial.
Here here
Please do
I love this keyboard - so glad you guys have listened and added the Pattern Sequencer!
Just started using it and I'm loving it. Just trying to work out how to save.
I'm loving it.
This is such an amazing keyboard, so deep, I love it.
Very well done, Blake! You are a top musician and at the same time a top teacher!! Thanks for this great vid! Adri from Holland
Hi guys. Why linear sequencer isn't in the modx and montage? Linear I'm mean the old school 16 track sequencer. Not every one use DAW
New Fantom from Roland has it, one reason i went with that instead of the more budget friendly ModX8

how do I record a live instrument in the sequence

Thanks for the videos.
Any Yamaha Genos vids of recording midi and audio and step edit and all how to edit the recording in audio etc

This was fantastic. Please keep doing these!!!! Thank you.
How many songs can I store in the MODX?
Excellent video once again, many thanks.
Does MIDI recording save in the MODX itself, or to USB?
Are these features for song recording available also on the modx7? How long can be the whole song? Thanks and compliments

I see no overdub where yours is..just a blank square next to rec quantize
Make sure you have the latest firmware update from Yamaha web site. My Yamaha modx is 2.52.0 and when I updated everything showed up.
They should have all the same recording daws in them for Geno's and mod so there's no confusion
