There`s about 20 minutes of video from these gigs finally being released soon in a documentary I read to be released on August 22nd in US cinemas..its called "Sid:The Final Curtain ://ruclips.net/video/Xr7kbvTbOc8/видео.html
I used a Sony Pressman mono cassette recorder sitting on the table. Max's sound system wasn't the best. Other than that, I'm not sure exactly what you are referring to.
I was at one of the shows. Sid had some great musicians with him, but he was washed up already. At that time he had become a sad character and the only topic of a conversation with him was: Do you have some drugs?
I remember the ad in the Village Voice for what I believe was a three night stand at Maxs. Was never really tempted to go since I thought Sid was all pose and image and no talent. A guy that fell apart when the edifice of the Sex Pistols was withdrawn from him. He had people around him who wanted to record music and make him the next punk rock superstar, but he was too much of an empty leather jacket to make that happen.
Sid had plenty of time to go into the studio after the Pistols split and before he died and record at least one single with the the Idols (N.Y. Dolls rhythm section FFS) which was the plan but I doubt he had any lyrics written for them to record.
Hi Debra. Let's face it, yes Sid was just a gimmick. Most of the tracks on never mind the bollocks were written by Jones, Matlock, Cook and Rotten with just two by Jones, Cook, Rotten and Vicious. Them two tracks being Holidays in the sun and Bodies. What could anybody expect him to do after the band split up? Sid (John Simon Ritchie) was just trying to be a punk rock 'n' roll star after the Pistols demise. Let's face it he was really only trying to survive till the next day after the next for his next fix. " Gurgling bloody mess? " Yes, but I do think he had something just a shame he never really found it. Totally agree with you that he wasn't a a true part of the punk fab four but not he's fault. Just ashame Glen Matlock was replaced as he was. Gonna get my headphones on now and listen to that classic album again. 👍👍👍

I think this is my recording - I recorded 4 of the 8 shows at Max's (2 this night and 2 on Sept 28)
Did the band sound like this in person or the tape you used to record this was just broken

I don't ever recall Pure Hell gigging with Vicious.

They supported him and were his backing band at Max`s,there`s several recordings and photos on here @@bklyntonw3187
great piece of history. was this during the period when the clash and/or bernie rhodes wanted to kick mick jones out the group?
No,earlier than that.
Sid was a better frontman than a bassist, in my opinion.
Could have made more effort with the video, there`s plenty of photos from this gig out there.
quel bordel
poor nancy tried her best with this show. bless her heart

I think this is the only thing that Sid did good

Sid & the sex pistols😊
Glenn Matlock was the bass player on the only album the sex pistols recorded. Sid's music was total Rubbish.
Sid's music wasn't his music, it was covers from mostly the iggy and the stooges/new York dolls.
Glen was also the main writer of the melodies, if not the songs, for the Pistols.

Actually Steve played most of the bass on Bullocks, he talks about it in his book
@@stephenwivverP original Banshee bud, that counts for a lot.
