    Well, this shows just what a shy, nervous and inexperienced kid Sid really was. It’s great to see him smiling, but we all know that there wasn’t going to many more of those days left for him. Iggy Pop playing in the background is perfect! I feel lucky to have known these guys, I still think Never Mind the Bullocks is one of the most iconic albums ever recorded and SIDS video of “My Way” is definitely the best Rock Video of all time! 🕊🐄🌟❤️🐓

    He was a shy guy who used drugs and drink to overcome that shyness which is a fatal combination. I think that was the case with Kurt Cobain and Jim Morrison as well. The stage fright is too much so they self medicate and then get addicted.

      No way. Kurt Cobain did drugs mostly because of his stomach problems. Heroin was one of the drugs that helped him with the pain. Then soon after he started seeking oblivion because of his depressive state. It was never to overcome his shyness or anything like that. As for Jim, I honestly don't know.

    • @TDWE
      @TDWE 10 лет назад +46

      Rebeca Cervantes
      Kurt Cobain was also known as a chronic liar. He probably first used heroin for recreational purposes and then found out how well it also helped with his stomach problems. I don't mean any offense to Kurt by calling him a chronic liar, but he was and he liked doing it; lying to journalists and what not, always fabricating stories.

Sid is a perfect example of Media preying on a lost young boy and sacrificing his soul. There are other celebs who overdosed on drugs and receive all the support from both fans and families. Sid had neither of them. Many people show empathy towards other celeb overdose tragedy but say awful stuff about Sid almost everytime and before you call him a murderer just get your facts straight that it was never proven and it was in the old days where forensic science (DNA fingerprints)was not well developed. There are lots of unsolved murders even today. So fuck off with your judgement

      Punk had a bigger scene in the '80s than in 1977. It went underground, got tougher, often a lot faster and more abrasive. U.S. punk (check out Soul Jazz's _Punk 45_ compilations) and mostly hardcore punk through the '80s (scenes in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, Austin, Washington D.C., New York, &c.) and British street punk/UK82, Oi!. Check out the playlist on my channel if interested in U.S. punk. Plus, MTV and punk: that's a paradox. You could say Nirvana did that, but Kurt wasn't punk; Kurt was more an emo ahaha

      It’s arguable that Billy Idol had the career Sid could’ve had if he’d been a decent singer and kept away from the drug scene in the late 70s. Their images were similar, except one had black hair and the other blonde. They had the same sneer and attitude, they knew each other and were part of the same scene, Idol was in the Bromley contingent, the first group of people to follow the pistols about, and he had been in one of the original punk bands, Generation X.

    When he wasn’t high he was extremely talented but people forget he was only 21 when he died. C’mon Everybody, Something Else, a cult version of My Way, the Johnny Thunders cover Born to Lose. Sid was quality and brought Great Rock and Roll Swindle to Life and his vocals are very clear in that film. Also no Sid no Duff Rose McKagen. He inspired a generation of low slung bass players. It is great just to see him being natural as often hammed it up for the cameras.

Yeah they fought but he would have left and so would she if they didn’t truly love each other.

    So many people there who would go on to become famous. That was Dave Vanian doing Sids shoe up wasn't it and Steve Severin next to him. When I was a kid I used to think Vivienne Westwood looked old but she's way younger there than I am now. Poor Sid was just a young 19 or 20 year old kid when the Roxy was open.. He's become an icon in the way James Dean has. He has a great look and while we age he will always be 21. One of my favourite little quotes is this..... Sid once asked Lemmy to teach him to play bass. Sid said'' I can't play bass'' and Lemmy replied''Yeah, I know!

    • @rexterrocks
      @rexterrocks 8 лет назад +3

      Yes,, You are right.I'm sure It IS Keith Levene. I only looked at it once before I wrote what I did and looking at it now I recognise him. I have a few good books of photo collections of the scene and most young people don't realise how small the actual number of people into the punk scene were in London in those days. You see the same people again and again, Particularly at the Roxy as that wasn't around for that long. I love The Slits, I believe it is them. I saw Don Letts a few weeks ago doing a DJ set. right near where I live. It was excellent listening to songs he would have played back then.

    • @strumbolli
      @strumbolli 8 лет назад +3

      +Paul Evans I think Shane Mcgowan is in there for a second too. When I was 9 years old and my brother was 13 we saw Generation X on Top of The Pops in 1978 from that day on I was into all things Punk which in turn led me into all kinds wonderful music from the MC5, to King Tubby to Eddie Cochran to Velvet Underground to Can etc etc.Punk set me off on a life time of listening interesting music.

    • @rexterrocks
      @rexterrocks 8 лет назад

      strumbolli Great taste in music.Everyone you named is someone I like. The funniest thing is I'm actually wearing a King Tubby T shirt and it's the first time I've worn in in about 5 years. I like a lot of US bands like Television and the MC5 but The Velvets have to be one of my favourite bands ever and Eddie Cochran and Gene Vincent are real heroes of mine.. I even got the same model guitar that Eddie Cochran used. I went to see the Velvets when they got back together in the 90's. They played Glastonbury.It's on here. It's hilarious because people complain that ''Pale blue eyes' sounds better on the record''. They obviously haven't heard any live recordings of them before.. That looks like Shane MacGowan at the bar leaning against the wall.. I've seen him in Julien Temple footage too. There is some footage shown often whenever Punk is mentioned on TV where he has a Union Jack top on. I was born in 67 and my brother was born in 66. It was a good time to grow up in. One of my g/f's mothers isn't much older than me and she's in 'The Punk rock movie' and in photos in books I own. The Clash have always been one of my favourite bands. I got to see the last incarnation of them without Mick and Topper. That's the album no-one talks about. 'This is England'. 'Bernie Rhodes knows, don't argue! :-)
