How is this any different than someone getting their rat stolen? Talk about a robber setting their sights low!

The dog was reunited with her owner. She was left at an animal shelter and he picked her up!

She was stolen. Make no mistake. If their intention was to return her she would have been back home within 24 hours (chipped and information on her collar) maybe not even that long

Highly irresponsible to leave a dog alone in a dog park. So many scenarios that could happen. Hope he learned his lesson. Unfortunate situation.

I know his feet hurt but they have walkers that have a seat on them! And he could have just sat and watched her run & play! And when she poo you have to see where she did her business so you can pick it up! So happy this had an happy ending

The Dogs human is a disabled human. He just stated that he could not walk, so he let Wiggles out to do her business. This is common and normal for disabled humans. I hope the people who took Wiggles will return Wiggles and to show forgiveness for the mans honest mistake 😢.❤🙏

at no point was it said that “he could not walk.” he literally _took_ *HER* to the dog park; (wiggles’ gender was referenced several times) this isn’t the yard outside his house. sitting in the car while one’s dog runs around the dog park unsupervised isn’t the same as being unable to walk.

Was the dog micro-chipped and with a collar? If I find a dog without a collar, I check for a microchip, if the dog has no microchip and no collar, I take it home, and will post on Craigslist and NextDoor. If I cannot find the owner or the owner doesn't want the animal back, I volunteer for a few dog rescues, and I will bring the dog through fostering and will re-adopt.
I have ALWAYS been able to find the owner, but I have no compunction whatsoever about taking a dog in, and I will not take it to a shelter, ever. I will do my due diligence, but if you can't bother with a $15 microchip or bother to get a tag on the dog, you're an idiot and really don't care about the animal. Two dogs I found had neither, both were reunited with owners. One just got a bath so they didn't have the collar on, the other was a malamute puppy that just got out of the yard, I explained to both owners that they were lucky, get the dog chipped.

Most, if not all dog parks I know of have benches for their owners to sit & watch their dogs play.
Some have them both inside the gates and outside.
Unless he was cold & needed to run the heat, he could have sat with her.
Seems the Park is not w/in easy view of the parking lot. All the more reason to not leave her alone there.
He’s not the first person to leave a dog in a park area & paid the high consequences. Another Vet lost his dog after he went to a Convenient store right across from a fenced in park area. Said she was the only dog in it. And came out to an empty play area. Don’t know if he got her back, as it was more a rest stop area for dogs to romp in. Gas station & big store right there. .
I’m sure this Vet here, won’t be leaving her alone ever again.
    Glad they’re back together.

Kinda like VERY DUMB to not monitor your own "service dog".
They are expensive first of all, require extensive training and
resources. A dog park is a place that an owner NEEDS to be
present. There are other dogs there that could be violent or
aggressive and their owner must be present at all times. It
is a known detail among fellow dog parkers.

It’s odd to leave your dog unattended at a dog park, I’m hopping a 12 year old took it as someone abandoned their dog at a dog park. Who wants to take care of someone else’s animal? It’s not impossible but I’m leaning on “this is a misunderstanding” kinda response

No, dogs do go missing. I've found 4 dogs in the last 15 years. I always got them back to their owner, but I lived with one of them for 3 days before I found the owner. He was a good dog, was glad to return him though.

Perhaps he should have kept his eyes on the dog.
I don't doubt the person who took him thought he was abandoned.
