Things are super scary in the world right now, and my thoughts, heart and prayers are with Ukraine and those affected by this hateful war. Hopefully my videos can offer some calm during these difficult times. I will donating the Adsense from this video to charities helping with relief for those in desperate need in Ukraine. Sending all of my love
Friends, a reminder that Green Chef is great option for ppl with disabilities that can struggle with usual shopping and cooking. I am autistic with adhd and multiple mental illnesses, and doing a regular grocery shop is a big struggle. Cooking can be really hard with executive dysfunction to the point where I often just do not eat anything, and food waste is also a massive issue with how forgetful I am, which makes cooking with fresh produce a struggle. Having recipie cards and pre portioned ingredients is incredibly helpful and I will def be looking in to Green Chef! I really struggle with giving my body regular good nutrition. Plastic waste is never ideal but for disabled ppl, trying to avoid plastic can be detrimental. Thank u for the video Maddy!!
I love your grocery shopping better bc you're good at little food waste and prep, and even though green Chef helps reduce food waste with recipes and portion control, the dred of all the plastic packaging waste that was there.
If it helps someone transition to being vegan, the benefits of eating vegan and low food waste will far outweigh the plastics. And helpful for people with disabilities etc. There are a number of reasons someone would benefit from having a meal box.
I think the idea is not something special because you can check some asda, tesco, co-op or whatever recipes and make an order from the specific store. But the amount of plastic of this green chef box was the first thing I'd noticed and I am totally agree with you.
I was thinking the same thing but to be honest most of the packaged stuff from the box is packaged the same way in the stores where i live. They could use biodegradable materials though, that's true.
No way you went to Slice of Cornwall! It's my sisters restaurant, I've sent her the link to this video because your review was so lovely. I'm vegan as well, I recommend making their Glas Dues vegan (by taking out the eggs, they can sub it for mushrooms but instead I get double rostis) it will change your life!! X
Lovely recipes, I had roasted veg tonight for dinner, it’s delicious. I enjoy seeing your recipes, I’ve been a vegetarian for 50 of my 53 years and it’s inspiring to see new recipes. I am going to add some Pak Choi to my list this week and also some Quinoa. Would love to see more cooking videos!
I do love your videos. It’s great to see that you are both committed to environmental kindness. I personally wouldn’t use the services of the food delivery companies because of all the single use packaging that is used. But if the benefit is an increase in people cooking wholesome and healthy meals then it’s a good compromise. Hard time swallowing that.
I love videos like this so much more than what I eat in a day videos, I find these so much more inspiring with less comparison. I got so many ideas from this, I haven’t made a stir fry in ages!
Thank you so much for the collaboration. It's so difficult trying to find meal packs that are vegetarian or vegan. It's so nice to have a normal person review it who also understands food. Please do more if you have the opportunity and feel like it's something you want to do
Happy Monday Madeleine! I always watch your video to start or finish my day because I found it a bit meditative for me :) Plus I love all your stir fry recipes!
That mushroom pasta does look good! I tend to do a lot of weekend meal prep for lunches during the week because I eat lunch at work. And I have to be intentional and flexible because some days, I’m in my office at lunch time with access to a microwave and some days I’m eating outdoors or in my work truck. For outdoor days I generally go with a salad, sandwich, or a sort of “mezze” platter if you will of different things and dips. I also always make sure to pack a snack so that I can stave off getting hangry. Nuts are usually my go-to. Right now my favorite is pistachios. But I also recently found some roasted fava bean snacks I like. The sriracha flavor is my favorite.
Would love to see some "on the go" ideas! Eating at the office means something that either reheats well in a microwave or that travels well like sandwiches
Loved this video, more like this please! I also love cooking but as you say it's easy to get stuck in a rut and keep doing the same selection of meals. I appreciate the inspiration!
Can i jut say that i love you. I always want to watch your videos and I am grateful for how natural you are and that you laugh at your self. Watching your videos is comforting. Other peoples videos can be fun and there are so many youtubers that create so much judgment. Im grateful for your voice and energy on youtube and your awesome hair ;)) I wonder what else you can create?
Wow looks delicious...I need some escapism from these hateful times, so thanks helping me out! Never thought of adding cider vinegar to sir fry. Looking forward to trying it... I usually add natural peanut butter to the stir fry for taste and protein
I got my Riverford box from your invite a friend to Riverford and got 15.00 back. I hope you have receive 15.00 back too from my order. I will say since eating just organic veg my skin is glowing as before I alway had bad skin. The pesticide in normal veg must of be the problem . Its be life changer no more wasting money on skin care , feed skin from with in .
I recommend trying gluten free pasta if you can. Whole wheat or whole meal bread and pasta is extremely inflammatory to the lymphatic system. I recommend cutting it out if you’re interested.
Such a calming, lovely video - so needed at the moment. Thank you for donating the Adsense money to those in need in Ukraine too. Ps your hair looks so beaut in this x
Every time I tune in for your cooking (or shopping) videos I get so hungry for such special food! I cannot get foods like this in Central America . It is just not how people grow, sell or eat here - and of course there are no Green Chef grocers who deliver either 🤣 We have a small vegan community in my town (5 people I think) and some of us have successfully grown a few vegetables. Generally it does not work here and stores won't carry what people won't buy. The one time one Asian owned store agreed to order for us we bought as much as we could eat but it wasn't enough to repay the merchant. Conversion here will not be easy. Meanwhile I'll try to imagine what the lovely meals you make taste like. You are very blessed.
This is fantastic to help with food waste, helping people transition to vegan. Help people who have been struggling with getting balanced meals. Help people looking for inspiration for new meals for their arsenal. Help people with executive dysfunction disorders. Help people with disabilities eat fresh. Help people who can't get to the supermarkets at the moment. Help people with anxiety and depression by having their meals set for the week, and not having to make a decision of what to eat for dinner. Helps people who just like meal boxes and want fully vegan options. Maybe just chill on the poo-pooing because it's got plastic and think outside of your own life 🙃
Love watching your videos Maddie. You inspire me to cook more veggies and to be less wasteful. Unfortunately the amount of useless plastic packaging by Green Chef made me feel so bad that this is being promoted on your channel! Love the recipes though ❤️
I understand your point of view. Thank you for being kind and constructive with your feedback ❤️ I really appreciate it! I am open minded when it comes to plastic usage that for some this is a stepping stone to going vegetarian, vegan or cooking from scratch. Which in my view outweighs the single use packaging. Hopefully some of my audience will find value in a vegan food box like this to help them learn to cook with plants and have the time to do so in a step by step way. I am privileged in knowing how to cook from my mum, but there are many who haven’t had that upbringing or chance to learn. I am so careful about my sponsorships and felt this one aligned perfectly with my goal to help people to learn how to cook vegan meals in a simple way ❤️
Thank you for your reply 😊. I understand your point of view as well. Veganism itself is highly beneficial for our planet and I do agree, sometimes it outweighs plastic use. I'm sure by time this company can find ways and means to reduce single use plastic packaging. The idea is very cool indeed.
My first idea was the same as you : so much plastic waste !! But then I remembered, all (and all and all…) the ingredients I bought in order to try new recipies, and that I didn’t like after all. Ending up at the bottom of the food pantry, until the shame of buying something expensive that I don’t use was reasonable enough for me to accept to throw it away (no one in my family and friends wanting it). With this kind of box, you can try new food and see if you like it or not before buying it in large quantity. Of course, in my opinion, it is not a box to use every day of every month all year round ! But discovering new recipies and adding them one at a time to your diet seems a very good idea ! (Sorry for my English, I’m French)
Just signed up for the meal delivery! There was an option for gluten free and I’ve been searching for something like this to make dinners easy. Thanks!
Even though the point of food boxes is to eliminate waste, I think they just use so much packaging and it's all mostly plastic!! It's so much better to just buy things in bulk and loose if you can than one-portioned meals from a box that's been delivered. Lovely recipes in the video, though!
I use riverford, all the ‘plastic’ is not standard plastic, it’s compostable . They try to out all they can in paper, and they used card punnets if possible, there’s all whole section about this on their website 🙂
Same goes for the second recipe. Plus having tiny amounts of spices individually wrapped up in plastic, and processed imported products, is not at all eco friendly.
Currently in season in the UK.. Artichoke, Beetroot, Cabbage, Carrots, Chicory, Cucumber, Leeks, Parsnip, Purple Sprouting Broccoli, Radishes, Sorrel, Spring Greens, Spring Onions, Watercress
Yummy vegan recipes video Madeleine. It's terrible what is happening in Ukraine at the moment and yes it's a scary time for our brothers & sisters in Ukraine and even those within Russia who don't support the government's decision to go to war.
The green chef box has lots of single use plastic. How can it be more substantial with all of that plastic? I totally get that the idea is no food waste but at least food waste is much more easily recyclable.
Then this isn't for you and that's okay for it not to be. There are people watching that this is a fantastic option for them. Let's not forget about our disabled, or mental health communities, they too watch RUclips.
Roasted veg quinoa salad absolutely delicious, except one thing----the vegan cheeses are seriously unpleasant in my view. They have zero nutrition, zero protein and are basically slabs of coconut fat! Sorry, horrible! Especially not good for kids. Nuts are infinitely better. However, I love your recipes and have lots of favourites, so thank you! Lizxx
Perhaps you could read some of the labels and see for yourself the amount of protein and nutrition in the many different types of vegan cheese before jumping to conclusions. They have improved massively in the last 18 months. 🙂

@@mollyb8136 thats absolutely not what I was trying to say and even said that these boxes can be really great for some people... My point was that these kits do use a lot of unnecessary soft plastic packaging - which is harder to get recycled as most councils will not collect it (systemic issue not individual) so you have to actively seek out a soft plastic recycling point. The sounds of the vegetable chopping for the Green Chef lunch was soooo satisfying!
A always do my meal planning for the week on Sunday, so this is perfectly timed

Purple cabbage!!! Great addition I make same !! Tofu and some chopped kale
Those are some lovely recipes, and I agree roasted/grilled vegetables always go down well.
Wow that salad looks amazing!
If you do buy the Soy Cream get it from the Free Fron Aisle not the chiller it is about 40p cheaper a carton in Tesco. Great video and lovely ideas. 😍

I followed this recipe to the tea. I will say I found the vinegar clashed with other flavours. I would leave it out if you want a classic Stirfry

I need those vegan waffles in my life 😍 That mushroom linguine 🤤😋
1 part quinoa 2 parts water goes for volume not weight thus it should be bit more than 400 mL for approx 1 cup quinoa (200 g)

How well does the first dish freeze in the freezer?
Yummy! A tip is to put the lid on the boiling quinoa to save energy :)
What brand is that pretty cream-colored cookware you're using for the quinoa in the first recipe?
Le creuset xx
That looks good

What make is your knife please?
Will you add the first recipe to the description?
Food wastage low. Well done!
Energy usage a bit high, perhaps.
Eg in the first recipe what ingredients were UK produce?

Do the codes work anywhere in the world? From Canada 🇨🇦 I’m not noticing green chef specifically but I notice they have 3 vegan options! I am hopeful!
How come you didn’t roast your veggies in the aga? I miss having an aga as they make veggies so tasty
There is something wrong with it at the mo so we have it off!
